I have my two fav sims SH4 and Darkstar One. Both crash on, mostly during the game. SH4, I have just sunk a ship and then desktop. When I start the game, no visuals but sound until I reach the loader bar. and visuals appear. Same with Darkstar One, initial screens gone but sound, then the logo and game appear.

I recently changed my rig from a box pc to a laptop and attached 27inch monitor (MSI) which was doing fine until about 3-4 days ago.

I have totally no idea what to do next! Games reloaded and still bust on me. The DS1 game throws a violation box on the screen and crash. SH4 just goes straight to desktop.

Running on Win 10? Was there an update that may have screwed up something?

Hi Cat, heres a update. On win 11 home, up to date. Firstly its solved, on both counts. I think it was my brand new MSI 27 inch monitor. I had tried everything right down to uninstalling both and reinstalling. After failing to find anything. I switched back to my previous Coolermaster 27 inch monitor. And suddenly no crashes!!! :D

I am still on the 'older' monitor and not had a single crash. Which is great because Dark Star One was famous for its Ascaron violation notices and SH4 is running happily along. Fingers crossed.

So I contacted Amazon UK and a very helpful young lady (after failing to contact MSI) arranged for it to be returned and refunded. And done. :salute:

I wonder how a monitor could cause troubles like that :hmmm:
Maybe driver related? But new monitors are mostly pug and play, if not always in the desired resolution.
But good to hear all works now!

I suppose I got what is known in the UK as a friday afternoon tv, where they rush it so they can go home! The tv I am on now was my last one now back on. and functions beautifully. THe only reason I got a new one was on my sons advice, having removed my big pbc and installed a juicy laptop and run my 27 inch off it.
