so, i bought this game 2 days ago, it was on sale for like 2 bucks on steam!
I've played a bit, and I've installed some mods. the mods I've installed are the 4GB patch, GWX, and commander.

anyway, i have some questions about the game!

1st:
what does the gramophone do? i press play, and it just plays the same music. is there a way to

2nd: I've heard about a 1.4, and some people saying the steam version doesn't have it? or am i just going crazy.

3rd: so far I've only played on easy, is the game more fun the more realistic it is?

you can set TC in SH3 Commander -> SH3 Options -> Time compression:

yes, it is more fun when you play it with more realistic settings PLUS you get more renown for uboat upgrades as reward for sinking ships with higher realism settings.

im now doing it on realistic, but i cant really figure out how to range things, i was testing it on a ship in port, i could set the direction, but i couldnt set the speed/distance. is there a way to input this into the notpad?

If you have the patience the game is better the more difficult it is. Establishing target range and speed was very difficult in real life. Fortunately if you shoot when the torpedo gyro angle is zero the range does not matter.

To see how it is done look at this guy:

If your PC can display 1920x1080 I also recommend using the new GWX Knights Cross supermod (links on the silent hunter 3 mods forum). It is easier to install and much better than the original GWX.

manual targeting can be quite challenging for new players when you have to learn so many new things. I'd leave that untill last.
