Has the thread title says, I need help identifying a jacket, how is it called/what is the name that it is referred.

I recently saw Broken Arrow,1950 film with James Stewart. In a few scenes he's dressed a jacket, that I want to know so i can see if i get a similar one.

Here is a few images of him using the jacket.

I tried a quick search in google and stumble upon "rancher jacket". Is it a correct name for it?

It's simple a "cowboy" jacket? Or a simple denim jacket?

When I was stationed in Germany they used to tell us not to wear Jean Jackets off base because it would make us stand out from the Germans. As if our army hair cuts didn't do just that.

https://www.levistrauss.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/A-Short-History-of-Denim2.pdf Enter the 1930s - when Western movies and the West in
general captured the American imagination. Authentic cowboys wearing Levi’s® jeans
were elevated to mythic status, and Western clothing became synonymous with a life of
independence and rugged individualism. Denim was now associated less often with
laborers in general, and more as the fabric of the authentic American as symbolized by
John Wayne, Gary Cooper and others. LS&CO. advertising did its part to fuel this craze,
using the West’s historic preference for denim clothing to advertise Levi’s® waist
overalls. Easterners who wanted an authentic cowboy experience headed to the dude
ranches of California, Arizona, Nevada and other states, where they purchased their first
pair of Levi’s (the products were still only sold West of the Mississippi). They took these
garments home to wow their friends and help spread the Western influence to the rest of
the country, and even overseas. denim-rugged look...and I otta know:arrgh!:https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/picture.php?albumid=815&pictureid=8803

C'mon now! I used it in Who What Wear thread where the question was "What famous island is in the right upper corner" (Mare Island):yeah: At some point in my long-haul trukkin' mid 70's, I owned a long-gone denim jacket that was referred to as a ''trucker jacket' ($69.99): https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/shopping?q=tbn:ANd9GcS0tHnp9ejmKnSUAarSYsTkHMb7kbz lfzZWa457hTmYJFLYqHqluH_tD095PGp6nF5dLS5Ksw6Yp_YsK oF1Pkdn_ozr80uEKLPHmbVvIkjSFqa9aSQjK242dyNKIB1hbLw 773DmYAk8GYY&usqp=CAc I had gone sleeper-team driving and was, in fact, the 'boss' ie: lead driver. Claude Akins from the the short-lived '74-'76 trucking show: Movin' On was undoubtedly my sartorial inspiration :O:

When I was a teen there was a revival of what we called a Harrington Jacket. Everybody had one - girls too. They were characterised by a tartan lining and were always zip-ups. Popular with "mods" in the summer when they weren't wearing "Parkas" on their scooters

Wore leather jackets and did the "Ton Up" more then once on my trusty Triumphs!
