Who would have thought it - in Paderborn in Münsterland, practically in the immediate vicinity of Münster, a German whisky has been distilled since 2015 that has it all. In 2022, The Westfalian was named the best whisky in the world by the IWSC (International Wine and Spirits Competition) and has already won several gold medals. Look at that! I could even become a drunkard - out of local patriotism! :D

The Scots envy the Germans' success, but they did the same to the Japanese. They promptly imposed an export ban on Scottish whisky casks and accuse the Germans of not brewing whisky, but only “alcohol”. It is true that the Germans remove the methyl alcohol contained in Scotch whisky, which can be highly harmful to health.
Their brewing master learned in Scotland and America. The casks in use are American casks. The founder of the company initially ran a temporary employment agency, got bored by it, and then turned a hobby into his new profession.
