Why am I receiving so small amount of renown? HELP

First of all - I am a noob, this is my first play trough
it's my 18th patrol and I only have 2100 renown. I still only own Type IIA but I am getting tired of it. It was many hours of playtime and I already want something else, mostly because I don't have deck gun and I only have 5 torpedoes.
I sunk 3 merchant with almost 2.0000 tonnage and a warship destroyer. I torpedoe was a dub but others were one shot - one kill. I only got 180 renown for that. How's that possible??
I am playing on 0% realism because this game is already quite hard to me so I doubt I will have fun on higher realism.

Loving the game but I feel like I am doing something wrong. Any help appreciated :hmmm:

Sinking ships like that I'd say you were doing a lot of things correctly. :up:

But it's the realism percentage that's affecting the renown scores. The higher the realism the more renown awarded. You could certainly enable a few settings without seriously impacting the difficulty. Many of them only have a relatively small effect on the game-play and are simple to understand.

The two significant ones with correspondingly steep learning curves would be Manual targeting and No map contact updates. If you get to the stage where you want to try those I would recommend learning manual targeting with map updates on first. Both are challenging in their own ways so best to learn one at a time.

Event camera, external view and stabilize view I would put down to personal preference even for an advanced player.

yeah, that is because of low realism setting.
Play on higher realism for higher renown rewards.


You really dont need such low realism to have fun - I would recommend to keep auto-targeting and external view, the rest can be enabled for higher realism and more renown rewards.
