When I lived in Kent it always seemed there were guys digging out in the fields for aircraft downed during the Battle of Britain. What they sometimes failed to appreciate was that aside from unexploded ordnance, there were great dangers from hydraulic components still pressurised and waiting to blow someone's hands off

UXO is a common occurrence here, too. There was a large freight railway station in our town which was heavily bombed five times between April 1944 and the end of the war. The freight station is long gone, but whenever something is built in the area the building grounds are thoroughly searched.
Also the nazi city government refused to surrender the city to the advancing British, so there was heavy fighting in mid-April 1945. To this day people still find grenades and mines. Just one month ago someone found an old 8.8cm PaK43 shell while he was gardening. The shell's exploder was so corroded that the shell had to be blown up in place.
I was thinking two minds one thought as I had posted same story in our Daily news thread

We have several suspected bomb discoveries here in Münster every year, and at least one or two actual defuses every year after confirmation, one of them on the site of a liquid gas terminal with a large open-air storage area here on the Dortmund-Ems-Canal and quite close to me, I often pass by there. If that had gone off, the whole city would have shaken.
