Hello again guys, I'm playing a 1939 2nd Flotilla campaign, currently mid September, and this past (ingame) day Ive already got 2 reports which instead of mentioning grids mention areas. The first radio message is as thus:

Freedom of action to attack in the whole of Area F has been given

The second reads thusly:

U-30, U-27 off the North Channel in Areas U and V. U-30 also has permission to attack in Area V. U-53: Area B. U-28, 31, 32 Area C off the Bristol Channel. U-29 Area B, West of the Channel. U-26, 34, 35 Area F, West of the Channel. U-33 Area J.

Ive attached a screenshot of the second message. Notice how the From: line instead of showing BdU shows FdU? I reckon that is related. Regardless, what are these "Areas" and how do I know what part of the map they each refer to?

Many Thanks!

Edit 1: Just thought of another question and there is not point creating a whole new thread as its related to radio messages. Basically the age old problem of getting constantly interrupted when transiting under TC by radio messages unrelated to my mission. All thread I've read recommend using WB's Mission Orders Lite (https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=1385) mod to limit radio messages while at sea, but (correct me if I'm wrong) the mod is not present in the files at the link provided. I clicked the link and searched using my browser's Find functionality for "Mission", "Orders", "Lite", and got not results. Does anyone know how I can achieve this effect?

Hi promitheas those radio messages may not be directed at your Uboat just general radio messages to make players feel that they are not alone giving the player that theres other uboats out there on patrol

But where are the areas it refers to, namely F, U, and V?

I would'nt worry about them those radio messages they are just for game emmersion when you left your home port for your patrol you had your orders to get to and patrol a grid like AM17 AL63 ect once you have got to your grid and patroled that grid for 24hrs you are free to go where you like Sir and get no penalty like less renoun for Uboat upgrades.
Theres no better feeling being out on patrol and as dawn breaks you dive to periscope depth and you do a search on hydraphones and you hear high pitch screws of an escort faint at first then they get louder then a second escort then the dull thud of approaching merchants and tankers holly cow we've hit the jackport a large inbound convoy happy days.

Ohhh I see, I thought they were part of my campaign. Like if it was possible for me to get to those areas in time there would actually be a convoy there and I could join a wolfpack or something.

Seeing as its like this, do you have any idea whats going on with the WB's Mission Orders Lite mod? If they're not useful radio messages, I would like to disable them so that they don't constantly pull me out of TC while I'm transiting to a place I want to hunt. It gets really annoying and causes my right hand RSI from clicking the mouse so much to get back to my TC level :O:

I just zipped up and uploaded my copy of WB's Mission Lite file. The read me in the documents folder should explain what it does.

Also if you eventually get into using h.sie's hardcoded patch, it includes a fix that prevents the TC from dropping to x1 when a message is received.

Funny you should mention that, im planning on biting the bullet and doing that whole patching process now before progressing too much. Ive got a few general questions (about that and other topics) so Im planning on creating a new thread tonight after work with all of my questions together :)
