View Full Version : TKSS TYPE VIIC takes too long for watch crew to get on bridge

... I have tried every trick I can think of to get my TKSS18 Type VIIC to have the watch crew on the deck when surfacing in the same time as GWX VIIC's or even the TKSS18 type VIIB. It takes a little more than twice as long as any other boat. The same goes for the VIIC/41. I think this is not acceptable.
I just want to know if anyone else has this issue and if there is a fix, Thanks.

...Well, after more testing I found the GWX Onealex Edition 1.53 Type VIIC has a normal watch crew time, but still not the Onealex Type VIIC/41. It only matters because I like the TKSS turms, which do not fit the GWX hulls; otherwise I would use the GWX. I also found that any attempt to modify the type VIIC hull model results in slow watch crew time. This is just too bizarre, and maybe why most of them have this issue.

I've found a solution to fix this problem. Are you still interested?

In S3D, replace the hull of VIIC with this one (import both models at the same time (ambient + AO (uv2))): https://www.mediafire.com/file/gztw0p08m3jpxfv/Mister_M_-_Corrected_hull_for_VIIC_TKSS18.zip/file

OK, that's great! Thank you for the info, but now I only need a VIIV/41 that doesn't have a slow watch crew.

Ah, you mean the special VIIC/41 mod included in the compilation?

Yes, I also use that VIIC/41 model for the VIIC/42, which I realize is not historical, but is so hard wired into the game I keep it as an option.

The Type XXI also has this problem. (OneAlex)

I don't experience the problem that you describe with this mod. :hmmm:

Send me the .dat file of this sub, so I can try to fix it.

I concur with SDFilm, the TKSSS18 XXI also has this issue. Continuing to test with various file changes, but it really seems to be the .dat file with these boats.

I will investigate on the type XXI. As I said, the problem comes from the hull 3D model in the NSS_Uboat----.dat file.

If you are playing with the VIIC/41 without the VIIC/41 mod, then you have to replace the model in NSS_Uboat7c.dat with the model I've corrected.

Hey guys, this thread ended up on the front page of Subsim, which I'm sure you saw! Maybe I'm not too observant, but I never noticed they put Forum threads on the front until now. Anyway, the only issue I have now is the XXI. Thanks for responding.

Thanks! How was it fixed?

The fix consists in adding some geometry (here a small square which will be hidden inside the coning tower) above the hull (at the same level of the handrails if they were there). Don't ask me why this is working... :O:
