I've updated to Win 10 and downloaded Uconnect. It's been awhile since I played SH5. My problem is when I go to the game on Uconnect it say's 'download game' and that's it. I have the full install plus TWOS on my E drive. It is under:

E:/Game1/steamapps/common/Silent Hunter 5

Edit: The game isn't recognized as downloaded in my Steam library. I would imagine that this is the primary problem. I can't figure out how to do this.

How do I connect this to Uconnect?

Thanks.

I think you need to activate the product key in uconnect.

In your Steam library, right click on the game, Manage or Admin, there it will show you the product key, copy it, and you have to register the key in Uconnect. If it is already downloaded on Steam, Uconnect will not ask you to download it.

If Steam does not recognize it as downloaded, even though you have it on your hard drive, it is because it was somehow uninstalled (many times Steam does not delete it when it is uninstalled), you will have to install it again.

Cheers mate.

You may be right regarding the game not being installed. The folder is there in E drive with lots of stuff in it but it may just be TWOs and add ons.

I would imagine there's no way of just downloading the game and keeping what I've got.

I'd dearly like to keep my old campaign.

Thanks very much for your help.

Normally you can keep your files and your old campaign, if you do a backup and rename your "Silent Hunter 5" folder. You save game and settings you will find at "C:\Users\[your user name]\Documents\SH5".

First, you can try to install the game again, do a first start of it and overwrite it with your old "Silent Hunter 5" files and overwrite your new save game and settings with your old one. Normally it should work, but this is not the fines way.
My suggestion is to do a complete new installation of SH5 and TWoS, activate all mods you need and try to load your old save game/old campaign.

If everything works like it should, you can delete your backup.

I tried downloading again and copy/pasting TWOs files over it. This didn't work.

But what also doesn't work is running the vanilla game. It goes into the loading animations then no menu etc.

My screen is 2560 X 1440 which wasn't supported by the original game.

I deleted my save files under USER: etc.

I'm not sure what's going on here.

Apologies for the run around and I appreciate any help folks can give.

Update for anyone experiencing similar problems.

The culprit was the SH5.EXE.

Went into properties and changed the compatability DPI settings. Also changed to administrator.

Loaded up the vanilla game sucessfully.

I then copy/pasted everything from my previous install including TWOs to the new folder.

I then copy/pasted my User data old save files.

TWOs booted up perfectly.

Many thanks to you all!
