I’m ready to drive from Florida to Arkansas but the way current weather forecast stands, looks I’ll be staying put and have to be satisfied with 53% coverage.

Pity it isn't the same date in May, I'd like to have seen it whilst in Mexico (if in fact that would have been possible).

Best way to see the eclipse is on the Internets Tubes.
Any time something cool is going to happen, I can set my clock to Iowa having a solid overcast. :/\\!!

I'm REALLY close to the center of the travel line.
Got our "Don't go Blind" eye wear ready.
If I got to go Blind, I have a more enjoyable way to do that.

....the weather forcast this AM is that much of the total dark path viewing will be botched by rainy weather. Given the eclipse of Mons in 1914, and the mid-battle eclipse at Isandlwana on 1/22/1879, these things tend to portend disaster...:hmmm::oops::dead:

Weather forecasts are a mess. I was ready to travel the 1500 miles to Arkansas to video totality but ONLY if the weather forecast was sunny or mostly sunny.
Looking at the Arkansas short range ensemble forecast it’s nothing but clear sky as far as the eye can see! But then the Canadian ensemble shows 30-40% cloud coverage and the American ensemble shows overcast sky. They’re not even close to the same.
I’m just staying home, eclipse is only 53% coverage but hopefully I can get some video of that. Of course Im facing the same issues here, the national weather service forecasts 30% cloud coverage which is OK. But then Weatherunderground forecasts 70% cloud coverage or worse.
If its too cloudy my back up plan is to go to the beach and pout

Going back there next month but to a different hotel. I had the chance to go on a day trip visit whilst in Mexico but went to swim with the dolphins instead.

Even as I type this, Eich is busy trying to set the perfect scenery layers and weather conditions in Flight Sim 2004 so he can take screen shots. :yeah:
If that doesn't work, I have a plan to re-introduce the joys of landing on aircraft carrier scenery. :D It only takes about 100 hours of seat time to get consistent and, even then, I can always say, "Yeah, but you didn't catch the 3 wire" or "It doesn't really get fun until you set a total overcast 50 feet above the waves plus a 20 knot cross wind". :hmmm:

:har: nuthin' good goes outta style https://static.life.com/wp-content/uploads/migrated/2012/11/1952_00129471.jpg I wore them in 1960, age 9, to see the ghosts in GHOSTIt just can't be as much fun watching this at home without a Ghost Viewer as it would have been back in the day. When you went to the theatre, you were given a piece of plastic with two strips of colored plastic. When the ghosts appear, you can look through the red strip and see them (eek!) Or if you were just hopelessly terrified to the point where your underwear was not safe. you could look through the blue plastic and see the scene without that nasty apparitions (since the ghosts were shown in blue in an otherwise black & white film. Or was it the other way around? Sounds kind of like a William Castle epic, you may well think and indeed it was. I wonder if William Castle would be more highly regarded as a filmmaker if he hadn't gone in for the goofy gimmicks? Maybe. He did mostly lightweight drive-in horror flicks but some (like SARDONICUS) were pretty good in their own right.

OK, there's not much chance you missed it, given the amount of coverage everywhere. There were countless articles online and so many TV items during the news letting you know how to view it safely, you can't have missed all of them.

So, for example, I might answer Vinny's post with a great big Whack since he got his apostrophe in the wrong place - too late to edit it now, Vinny. :haha:

I really don't want to become involved in this but in all honesty, very few if any truly knew Steve's feelings on the matter so I would respectfully suggest this is not a good idea Glynn.
