Been out of the SH series for years probably a decade.

Runing SH4 Wolfs of the Pacific with the UBoat missions to get it up to 1.5.

All of a sudden on way back from inserting an agent into Japan 1942 time frame. Anything above time compression of 128 it starts stuttering for lack of a better word. The more compression the worse it gets till un-playable.

remind me: are you using LAA (Large Address Aware)?
it's a utility that allows SH4 to use up to 4 gigs of memory to run.
it's in the MODS forum for download.
the time lag is due to a large number of friendly and enemy ships and planes spawning, and that takes up memory as well as CPU cycles. LAA will help.

even after you implement LAA, it is highly advisable that you do not exceed TC 1024 (time compression). higher TC causes more issues than just time stutter.

Mien Got!

I have 64GB of memory and you're telling me it is not enough!

Also, a very high end I7.

PC was built just a few months back now.

WOW!

I shall see what I can do.

Thank you!

"64-bit versions of Windows require no modifications to the operating system to benefit from this application; however, in 32-bit versions of Windows, you must increase the user memory setting."

Well the LAA is out the window for a fix as I have a 64 BIT OS.

And 64GB of ram.

So I don't know why it is stuttering.

Played some U-boat mission last night worked just fine.

ok...your PC may have 64gb of memory but Ubi is only using the first gig or so to play SH4. using LAA will enable SH4 to use up to 4 gig of memory.

LAA will work with either 32 bit or 64 bit OS. i have it installed on two 64 bit OS and it performs fine.
read this post (https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/showpost.php?p=2452635&postcount=1).
even though it is several years old, it is still relevent.

Tried it.

Did not help and crashed to desktop.

Saw MANY posts of not saving your game over an old, saved game.

I was doing just that.

If that is the case I will have to start all over again because all my saves were over old saves.

I guess once it gets corrupted it stays that way.

Also saw where to check for Compression in the .ini file, mine were fine.

Also when I started this Captain I had map updates turned off.

After the 1st mission I turned them back on.

Talk about flooding the map with sightings!!!! :o

I think I will try a new start with maps on and not saving over old saves.

Worth a shot should know REAL fast!
