Kremlin hardliner Medvedev warns of “unavoidable” conflict in smirking threat to US over Alaska

Russian President Vladimir Putin has directed authorities in Russia to search for foreign lands and Countries that once belonged to the former USSR the Russian Empire and register ownership over them. This is exactly what has happened in the Ukraine.

This should put Countries like Poland, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania among many other countries on notice as to the exact nature and Intentions of Russia.

Quote:
Although Putin's decree did not explicitly name Alaska, Washington has firmly told Moscow that attempts to claim U.S. territory will not be tolerated.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/kremlin-hardliner-medvedev-warns-unavoidable-152500098.html

Kremlin jester Dmitry Medvedev (https://search.yahoo.com/search?p=Dmitry%20Medvedev), who holds the symbolic position of Deputy Head of the Security Council in Russia, stumbled into the discourse over Alaska and, perhaps over a few drinks, came up with empty threats to take the United States to war.

This is laughable to me. If Russia thinks it has had a rough time in Ukraine, it hasn't seen anything yet if the U.S gets into it with Russia.

The document recognizes Kuban, Starodubshchyna, as well as Northern and Eastern Slobozhanshchyna in modern-day Belgorod, Bryansk, Voronezh, Kursk, Rostov oblasts, as well as Krasnodar Krai, as historically Ukrainian lands inhabited by Ukrainians.

I can think of a stronger phrase, one I'm under constraints not to say here.

To Russia, I would just say, If you want it bad enough, try taking it. :yep:

No, the only answer that amkes sense is to beef up and speed up the production of defense, and delivery of such to Ukraine, into the Baltic, also filing up our own reserves.

NATO signed a treaty with the industry to buy ammunition for 1.2 bn (I think) for artillery. The first deliveries will start in - 24 months. :Kaleun_Sick:

Also, we should start to economically boycott and economically threaten Hungary (over Sweden). Isolating it from deliveries of all sorts, especially those sorts that hurt. Of course, politely, endlessly politely - and then lots of icecold politeness. I would also always mention technical difficulties and would never forget to thank Hungary for its understanding, and would every day remind the media of that Hungary has a great deal of understanding for these technical problems and yes, I would thank them for that, too, and repeatedly.

What does any of this have to do with Russia wanting Alaska Back ? :k_confused:

Gotta have the Original receipt, the Original box it came in, and pay a re-stocking fee to return stuff. Then there's the time limit you can return a purchase.

Since the Original owners are no longer in business? Can't see returning it.

I'd say "Come and get it. If you can!"

Russia wants other territories back as well. As you said. Jim said "Nuts". I think its not trustworthy to just declare Russia nuts - you have to be able to put muscle onto the bone of that word. How can you if the West is split, devided, and endlessly refuses to beef its anti-Russian defences? As to be seen in the Turkish delay and Hungarian still blockade of Sweden? Why are such "allies" even tolerated in NATO? They are a risk. And then the insufficient defence spending in Europe?

Or Jim maybe meant the West when he said "Nuts"...? :)

What DaffY Duck Publications are you reading ? If this wasn't legitimate, why would the U.S State Department respond to it ? If this wasn't true, Why would there be a proclamation by Russia on reclaiming land that once belonged to them ? Why would Newsweek be reporting on it ?

I was simply referring to this:

According to those present when McAuliffe received the German message, he read it, crumpled it into a ball, threw it in a wastepaper basket, and muttered, "Aw, nuts". The officers in McAuliffe's command post were trying to find suitable language for an official reply when Lieutenant Colonel Harry Kinnard suggested that McAuliffe's first response summed up the situation well, and the others agreed. The official reply was typed and delivered by Colonel Joseph Harper, commanding the 327th Glider Infantry, to the German delegation. It was as follows:

To the German Commander.

NUTS!

The American Commander.

Really Markus?

Maybe in your country it's different but over here US Presidents can't give away (or sell or barter or eject or allow to secede) US states, protectorates or territories.

This story comes from numerous news outlets and not the one you mentioned. I repeat for the 2nd time, why would the U.S State Department feel the need to address this issue in a forthright manner if it wasn't true ?

Further, Putin did sign a decree initiating an investigation of the return of what they feel was territory that once belonged to them. This includes Alaska. Further still, Figurehead and deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev has made this and other claims before in concert with Putin.

Quote: Meanwhile, Vyacheslav Volodin, a close ally of Putin and chairman of the country's State Duma, suggested in 2022 that Moscow ought to retake Alaska (https://www.newsweek.com/putin-ally-vyacheslav-volodin-warns-us-russia-reclaim-alaska-1722342) as a retaliatory act against the U.S. for the heavy economic sanctions it imposed against them in the wake of the invasion of Ukraine.

Russian Claims Gain Momentum

Surprisingly, there have been reports of posters in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk dating back to 2022 that boldly proclaimed "Alaska is ours!" This indicates that a campaign to assert Russia's claim on Alaska might already be underway.
The push for Alaska's return is not limited to grassroots movements; it has found support among influential figures like Vyacheslav Volodin, a confidant of President Putin and chairman of the State Duma. In 2022, Volodin asserted, "When they [U.S. Lawmakers] attempt to appropriate our assets abroad, they should be aware that we also have something to claim back," referencing Alaska.

Additionally, there have been discussions about Russia demanding the return of Fort Ross in California, a settlement established by Russian traders in 1812 and occupied for thirty years.

https://www.newsweek.com/putin-ally-hints-russian-plot-reclaim-alaska-1851019

Therefore, the Information came from Multiple sources unlike yours and was published by Newsweek and other reputable publications. I assume you feel that Newsweek is a Parody or farcical publication. To be fair, I'm sure Putin can't be serious and probably the musings of a delusional individual.

You may of course believe what you like. I suggest you do some research.

That's good to hear. But the ones making those same claims over here are dead serious about it. They really think that Trump would and could give away a US state.

Snopes says it isn't true. Mostly because there's no specific mention of Alaska.
