A Few Questions About FOTRSU

Before I use FOTRSU, I played RFB2.0+RSRDC and completed 12 war patrols.
I was playing FOTRSU since last weekend.
I started a new career from October 1942 in a Gar class based in Midway. Until now I conducted 4 patrols and it is June 1943. Here are my questions on FOTRSU:

1. Are there too many ships? Do I meet them too frequently?
During my 1st patrol I went to south of Shikoku and sunk 11 ships, 55k tons.
2nd in Formosa Strait and Luzon Strait, sunk 9 ships, 53k tons.
3rd in Mashal/Gilbert Islands, Ocean Island and Saipan, sunk 9 ships, 80k tons, including a battle ship.
4th also in south of Shikoku, sunk 10 ships, 70k tons!
That was amazing......
Back in RFB+RSRDC, I often sunk only 3-5 ships in a patrol because I just didn't meet so many targets, before I ran out of fuel and have to return to base. It was a huge surprise to sink 7+ ships in a single patrol in RFB.

2.Is there a fuel consumption bug?(limited fuel is on, of course)
The max range of a fleet boat is about 11000 NMs, back in RFB, I often had only 3%-5% fuel left when I came back to base after a 50+ days patrol.
When I played FOTRSU, the fuel consumption rate was rather low! In my 4th patrol to Japan Home Waters, which had lasted about 45 days, about 3000 NMs from my Midway base, I had 70% fuel left when I returned to Midway.

3.How or When can my conning tower be upgraded?
If I start a campaign in early 1943(Jan 1943), I can get a late-war conning tower (2 AA gun slots) with any Porpoise/ Salmon/ Sargo/ Tambor/ Gar/ Gato class boats.
I started current campaign in late 1942 with a Gar class boat, which has a early-war conning tower (only 1 AA gun slot ). Now I have ended my 4th patrol with 4000+ renown and it is June 14 1943, but still no refit/overhaul was offered.
Earlier in my 3rd patrol, which ended in March 1943, I was offered new command of a Gato class boat, if I accept it, it still had an early-war conning tower. (I refused it, wish I could get a Balao after my 6th patrol.)
Why in March or June 1943 I can't have a late-war conning tower while I
could have it if I start a new campaign in Jan 1943?

u.Prestige, you will find more traffic in FotRSU than you did in RSRDC usually, but it almost sounds like you did not delete the Save folder after you changed mod configurations. The Save folder is usually "C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH4" or similar, unless you have used MultiSH4 and made a new Save folder of a different name. Delete the contents of that folder and start a new career. You should find more traffic than RSRDC, but less than stock, and with a more "realistic" mix.

As for fuel usage, yes there is a problem with that in FotRSU. We have the "balance" of the boat set more toward the new skipper, with a stable ride, but we did get real close on the dive and surface times, along with battery re-charging. However, we do want to make the boat less stable in rough water, and get the range down to a more realistic level.

The conning towers in all of SH4 is a bother. The game wants to give you a boat upgrade before it will give you a conning tower update, unless you take damage to your boat...
