can't order the diesels to go

After running submerged for some time, it is dark now and time to close and attack a ship. I surface the sub - type VIIc - and order it forward at the 2 or 3 speed. And nothing happens. 0 kts. I ring up the different speeds and no go. I check the staffing with the F7 key. Seems normal. What is going on here?

Eventually I get around it. I submerge the boat, move forward for a minute or two. Then surface, and it goes forward OK. But what happened. A bug?

Most likely just a bug. Sometimes if you're surfaced without the diesels running for a short while they won't work when you ask them to. Selecting a reverse speed setting usually fixes it and then it should work as normal.

Yes, a sort of bug :doh:. As being said, go reverse and then forward, the engines will work again.

I have had this happen a couple of times since then. The move to go to reverse briefly, then go forward again, works like a charm.
