Just got home from watching the game (vs. da Bears) at a friends. Promising start for our young QB and team. Just one game though.
Next up, Atlanta.

Is that a common thing among the NFL fans-change club, when their team is bad in the season ?

As a European I stick with my team-whether they are in top or bottom.

Bengals still alive in playoff chase. What’s their path to postseason?

"The Browns are 7-3 in the conference, and Pittsburgh is 6-5. The Bengals are still more likely to make the playoffs than the Steelers, according to both NFL.com (http://nfl.com/)
and ESPN playoff predictors, despite Pittsburgh sweeping them this season. The Steelers finish at Seattle and at Baltimore."

Yellow flag!

Some days ago I saw on the German channel RTL a football match from NFL.
There was given some yellow flag to some players.

There was however no penalty not what I could see.
Example:
A player(A) interrupt an another player(B) while he is running into position Player (A) is still on the field when the other has 2nd & 10.

Well, just so you know. The yellow flag being thrown during a play (penalty flag), in American football slang is known as; "Laundry on the field."

Not sure about your question without a replay, but sounds like a referee saw something he thought to be a violation of in-play rules; tossed the flag, but then
the field judge (guy with white hat), over-ruled and decided there actually was no penalty involved? Just guessing...

Markus

The short answer is that almost all football game infractions involve a loss of yardage to the offender ranging from 5 yards to 15 yards but there is also "at the point of the foul" and "half the distance to the goal" penalties which might result in much more.

Sometimes it also includes a loss of a down, although usually the down is replayed which is why sometimes the penalty will be declined by the other team. If the offender is playing defense an automatic first down is often awarded to the other team along with the yardage penalty.

In rare cases the referees will eject a player from the game. Those situations usually involve fighting or some other really egregious behavior.

Have read some part here and there in this rulebook which bweiss provide to me. Puh it's a lot of paragraf to keep in mind, thank God I'm not a NFL referee remembering all these rules.

No problem, glad to help someone who's interested. Note of caution though, as remote as it may seem today. IMO the clock is ticking for the NFL,
as we know it at least, as in it's current form it is akin to the folks who made wooden wagon wheel spokes in the late 1800's.

Get ready for the the Masterbot Bowl, featuring the Chicago Cyborgs vs the Baltimore Bolts.

The first one I was meet with following
"This site is currently unavailable to visitors from the European Economic Area while we work to ensure your data is protected in accordance with applicable EU laws."

The others was readable When I read about this CTE I came to think of an article in a Swedish newspaper, where they wrote heading a ball could case brain damage an English survey showed.

Well you had posted a link(the last) on this topic.

I'm on page two in this rulebook

I'm like :o

When reading following:
3. All line work is to be laid out to dimensions shown on the plan with a tolerance of plus one-fourth inch. All lines are straight

Of course we have laws on how a Soccer field should be like. I can't remember we have so precise rules on how the field has to be painted.

Nicely explained :yep: The complexity of the game is part of its appeal, and at times its frustration :/\\!! There's a great book I picked up a number of years ago by Pat Kirwan (NFL Sirius Radio), Take Your Eye Off the Ball: How to Watch Football by Knowing Where to Look. He has since published a 2.0, which I have yet to read, but no doubt will.

Back in the day before live broadcast censor delays (thanks a lot Janet Jackson), I would watch the game on TV with the sound turned down and listen to the radio announcer do the play-by-play. I learned a lot about the game doing that. It's because the radio guy always gives a much better description of the formation setup and play while the TV announcer usually babbled about stats or something irrelevant.

I got to see what a shotgun formation looked like for example as it was being described in detail and knew who was setting up wide right or inside left or was stationed in the backfield.

Alas there is now a 15-30 second delay between what you hear on the radio and what you see on TV and it's too frustrating to monitor them both simultaneously.

It's too bad about the delays you mention above now, because you hit the nail on the head. The live broadcast is like watching the movie. The radio, combined with the broadcast, is akin to reading the book, a much more comprehensive experience. The radio guys paint the picture, while on TV, they're more describing it.

I'll sometime listen to the game on NFL Sirius for that reason. Not often, but when I have, don't feel like I'm missing much.

Wow. Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots go their separate ways after an unprecedented 24 year run. Six Superbowl Titles and Nine Superbowl appearances in New England since Bill took the Head Coaching reins. Mike Vrablel of the Titans and Pete Carroll of the Sea Hawks are also out of their respective Head Coaching Jobs. I'm sure most will find Jobs elsewhere, especially Bill Belichick.

The Pittsburgh Steelers behind third string Quarterback Mason Rudolph will visit the Buffalo Bills for Wild Card weekend. The weather is expected to be cold, nasty and snowy on Sunday. Welcome to Buffalo. I never expected to see the Steelers in the playoffs and certainly not with Mason Rudolph at Quarterback where Mason has shined the last few weeks since taking the helm.

This is the NFL, to be sure.

Enjoy the games and weekend coming up. :yep:
