Ukraine also isn't 100% the ideal image of western society.

Ukraine also isn't 100% the ideal image of western society.
Look at the Azov Battalion as example.
It's a single battalion and from what I understand only a few of it's original members have questionable political leanings. Russian propaganda has made the problem a lot more significant than it really is.

Chinese troops in the region as "peace keepers" gives them the opportunity to study Western military doctrins and procedures of other Western "peace keeping" powers at close range and establishes an electronic surveillance and spionage platform in Europe.
I am totally and strictly against their presence.
They could also serve as a future troublemaker for Bejing in case China confronts the the West in the Pacific the hot way.
White House on maritime ceasefire agreement and energy infrastructureWhite House confirms agreement reached between Ukraine and Russia following talks in Saudi Arabia. Washington has published statements following bilateral talks with Russia and Ukraine. The texts read:
Ukraine and Russia have reached an agreement on a Black Sea ceasefire ‘to ensure safe navigation, eliminate the use of force and prevent the use of commercial vessels for military purposes in the Black Sea’.
Agreement was also reached on ‘developing measures for the implementation’ of a ceasefire on energy infrastructure.
The US and Ukraine agreed to continue working towards a ‘sustainable and lasting peace’.
The US will help Russia regain access to ‘the world market for agricultural and fertiliser exports, reduce maritime insurance costs and improve access to ports and payment systems for such transactions’.
Ukraine: Russian military fleet not allowed outside ‘eastern part of Black Sea’Ukrainian and US communications on reaching a ceasefire agreement on the Black Sea are largely consistent. Ukraine's defence ministry adds that if Russian warships sail outside the ‘eastern Black Sea’, Kyiv will consider it a violation of the agreement. They speak of ‘a threat to Ukraine's national security’ in that case. Kyiv then says it may exercise ‘the full right of self-defence’. For now, Russian communications are awaited. Russian state news agency TASS reports that the Kremlin will publish a statement shortly.
Zelenskyy: ‘Agreement goes into effect immediately’Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has provided more explanation on the partial ceasefire. According to Zelenskyy, the agreement will go into effect immediately. Zelenskyy also said he will request additional weapons from Trump should Russia violate the agreement. ‘If the Russians violate this, I have a direct question for President Trump. If they violate this, here is the proof - we will ask for sanctions and weapons.’
Kremlin confirms Black Sea ceasefire agreementThe Kremlin has just published a ceasefire statement. Here are the main points from the Russian communiqué:
Moscow confirms that an agreement has been reached on ‘developing measures’ to carry out a strike against attacks on energy infrastructure. The ceasefire will start for a period of 30 days, counting from 18 March.
The Black Sea ceasefire, according to Moscow, will take effect only after sanctions against ‘Russian Agricultural Bank and other financial organisations involved in international trade in food products’ are lifted.
Several other obstacles, such as those on ship services and the supply of agricultural machinery to Russia, must also be lifted before the truce comes into force, the Kremlin says.
The communication largely echoes Ukrainian and US statements. The US confirmed it would help Russia regain access to the world market for agricultural products. Only on the timing do Ukraine and Russia seem to differ. Zelensky earlier said the agreement would take effect ‘immediately’.

That serves Russian interests more than Ukrainian. Winter is over and was untypically mild anyway, Russia's bid to 100% strangle heating and electricty has failed (though it likely would have worked if the winter would have been "normal"), but they did damage, tremendously, Ukraine however had a run at Russian petrochemical and oil industry recently. Ukraine looses more military options by this ban on attacks on energy infrastructure than Russia now, since Ukraine alrerady has lost 90% of its former capacities anyway. Russia still was and is vulnerable, still has plenty left that could be destroyed by Ukrainian attacks.
And lifting sanctions. Nice onve, Donny, once again you show on whose side your sympathies lie.

[dpa] Russia has published a statement on the results of the conflict talks in Saudi Arabia that differs from that of the USA and Ukraine. According to the statement, Russia does not want to implement an agreement on safe shipping in the Black Sea until far-reaching sanctions are lifted.
For example, the Russian state agricultural bank and other financial institutions should only be given access to the international financial telecommunications system Swift again. Russia is also demanding an end to the embargo on the import of agricultural technology and other goods necessary for the production of food and fertilizer, according to a Kremlin statement.
According to the Kremlin, other trade restrictions on producers and food exporters should also be lifted, as well as sanctions against the work of ship insurers. Moscow is also demanding the lifting of sanctions against ports and ships flying the Russian flag and transporting fishery products, for example.
The USA had previously announced that Russia and Ukraine had agreed to ensure the safety of civilian shipping in the Black Sea. Two statements published by the US government stated that force should be renounced and the use of merchant ships for military purposes should be prevented. According to the Ministry of Defense in Kiev, Ukraine has confirmed that it will cease fighting in the Black Sea and attacks on Russian energy infrastructure. Such an agreement could then also be monitored by third countries, the ministry added.
Ukraine has agreed to the Black Sea ceasefire, seeing as it has sunk my navy anyway. https://bsky.app/profile/darthputinkgb.bsky.social/post/3ll7sm7dbpk2o

Zelenskyy: We are concerned about US having influence on Russia, not vice versa
The Ukrainian delegation did not discuss the issue of territories with the United States in Riyadh, but it is possible that the American delegation discussed it with the Russian delegation.
This was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.
"There were no questions about the territory, there were no questions about sanctions," Zelenskyy said during a conversation with journalists.
"I think the American side is talking to the Russians about the territory. We are concerned about the US having influence on Russia, not the other way around. This is the most important thing for us. President Trump has enough power, tools, sanctions, etc., various tools to influence the Russians, Putin, to end this war. We are concerned when they discuss something about us without us. We are concerned, and we tell our partners about it," the president said.
According to him, "it is clear from media reports and officials that they are raising the issue of territories." "And there were no agreements with us on the territories. They know that these are painful issues," the President of Ukraine added.
"I believe that two issues will be the most difficult with the Russians: a complete ceasefire - I talked about this even before the first meeting, because the Russians do not want to end the war - and the issue of territories, because the Russians do not want to end this war. That is, two different issues, but the same reason. And so it will be a difficult dialog. But it will be," Zelenskyy said. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3543207
Agreement on safety of navigation in Black Sea will come into force only after sanctions are lifted - Kremlin statement
The Kremlin has issued a statement following talks with the United States in Saudi Arabia, emphasizing that certain agreements will come into effect only after Russian demands are fulfilled.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by the Kremlin's press service.
Thus, the Russian side demands: to connect Rosselkhozbank and other financial institutions back to SWIFT and open correspondent accounts.
In July 2023, this was one of Russia's requirements for the continuation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
The Kremlin has also stated that it wants sanctions lifted against food and fertilizer producers and exporters, as well as restrictions on insurance companies working with cargo transportation, and expanded access to ports and payment systems for such transactions.
In addition, the Kremlin is demanding that restrictions on port services for Russian-flagged ships involved in the food and fertilizer trade be lifted, and wants sanctions on the supply of agricultural machinery to Russia to be lifted.
The Kremlin also claims that the Russian Federation and the United States have agreed to develop measures to ban strikes on energy facilities in Russia and Ukraine for 30 days, starting on March 18, 2025, with the possibility of extending the agreement or withdrawing from it if Ukraine violates it.
Negotiations in Saudi Arabia
On March 24, in an evening video address, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that after meeting with the Russian delegation in Saudi Arabia, the US delegation would meet again with the Ukrainian team.
It should also be noted that on Sunday evening, March 23, representatives of Ukraine and the United States met in Saudi Arabia to discuss a possible partial ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.
On March 24, 2025, the American and Russian delegations held talks in Riyadh. They lasted 12 hours.
It is worth noting that the points of agreement between Ukraine and the United States include: a ceasefire regime in the Black Sea and freedom of navigation; a ban on strikes against energy infrastructure; monitoring with the involvement of the United States and third parties; a commitment to move toward an unconditional ceasefire; and U.S. assistance to Ukraine in returning children, civilian hostages, and facilitating prisoner exchanges.

Coincides with Kremlin’s messages - Zelensky on Witkoff’s statement on "referendums" in Ukraine’s TOT
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that US Special Representative Steve Witkoff's statement about the "referendums" organized by Russia in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine coincides with the Kremlin's narratives.
He said this at a briefing, Censor.NET reports citing RBC-Ukraine.
The President was asked to comment on Witkoff's statement.
"You know my attitude. I believe that there are big disadvantages and advantages to this topic. Unfortunately, there is a lot of information disseminated by certain people and the person you mentioned (Vitkoff - ed.). His messages, unfortunately, very much coincide with those of the official Kremlin," Zelenskyy said.
He reminded that similar statements about "referendums" have been made many times before.
"We all know that there were no real legal grounds for holding referendums. Second, no one can legitimize these referendums because they were held at gunpoint. Thirdly, there are dead souls and plenty of evidence of who voted and who did not vote. Everyone knows that there were no legitimate referendums, and no one in the world recognizes them," the head of state said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that this is a Russian message, and "there are some high-level voices in the United States that are spreading this information that these lands were once Russian."
Also, according to the president, Vitkoff communicated too much with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
Vitkoff's statements about "referendums"
Earlier, Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff said that the biggest issue in this war is "the so-called four regions: Donbas, Crimea, Luhansk, and two more. These territories are Russian-speaking, and referendums were held there, where the majority of people voted in favor of being under Russian rule."
Witkoff later clarified his statement about the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine and the "referendums" held there.
Oleksandr Merezhko, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Policy and Interparliamentary Cooperation and a member of the Servant of the People party, said that Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, should be dismissed from his post. His statements about "referendums" in the occupied territories are "shameful and shocking."
The European Commission emphasized that the so-called "referendums" held by Russia in the occupied territory of Ukraine were completely falsified and "at gunpoint." Source: https://censor.net/en/n3543212
Ukraine has handed over list of energy facilities that cannot be hit by Russia to United States, - Zelenskyy
The Ukrainian side has handed over to the United States a list of energy facilities that fall under Washington's initiative to refrain from striking the energy infrastructure of Ukraine and Russia during the truce.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this during a meeting with journalists, Censor.NET reports.
According to the head of state, the US proposal to abandon strikes on energy facilities implies that "we do not hit their energy sector - they do not hit our energy sector."
"We separately, just in case, handed over (during the meeting in Riyadh - Ed.) all our energy facilities. We handed over which facilities, in our opinion, cannot be attacked," Zelenskyy said, adding that Kyiv was "very ready" for the meeting.
The President also noted that the proposal for a ceasefire in the Black Sea applies only to civilian shipping and provides for a ban on the striking of ports.

On March 24, in an evening video address, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that after meeting with the Russian delegation in Saudi Arabia, the US delegation would meet again with the Ukrainian team.

There was no talk of territorial concessions at meeting in Riyadh - Palisa
There was no talk of territorial concessions at the meeting of the Ukrainian and American delegations in Saudi Arabia.
This was stated by a participant in the negotiations, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palisa, Censor.NET reports.
We continue to work on effective mechanisms for monitoring the ceasefire and obtaining effective security guarantees because it is obvious that there is no trust in the enemy, said the deputy head of the OP.
"We warned the American team that the Russians would stall and put forward additional conditions. We are interested in a parity ceasefire, and we will respond immediately in case of violation of the agreements," the statement reads. .
"And as for the 'red lines': no talk of territorial concessions. This is all Ukrainian land, for which we are fighting and will continue to fight under any circumstances," Palisa said. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3543390
US needs Greenland for international security - Trump
US President Donald Trump said that the United States needs Greenland to ensure international security.
The American leader said this in a podcast by American host Vince Coglianese, reports EP, Censor.NET informs.
Trump, in particular, was asked to comment on the upcoming visit of the US Vice President and Second Lady to Greenland. The head of the White House replied that it was necessary for "them to know that we need Greenland for international security."
"We need Greenland for international security. We need it. We have to get it. This is an island that we need from a defensive and even offensive standpoint, especially in the current situation in the world... And we have to have it. I hate to say it, but we have to have it," the American leader said.
At the same time, Trump admitted that Greenlanders are unlikely to want their island to become part of the United States.
"But I think we have to do it, and we have to convince them, and we have to have that land because without it, you can't properly protect a lot of that land, not just the United States. So we have to have it, and I think we will have it," the US president said.
Earlier, it was reported that an American delegation would visit Greenland this week. The island's Prime Minister Mute Egede criticized the visit of the American delegation to Greenland, calling it a "provocation."
Later, it became known that US Vice President J.D. Vance would join his wife, Usha Vance, who will visit Greenland on March 28 with the US delegation.
Trump wants to annex Greenland to the United States
In early January, Trump said that Denmark should give up Greenland to protect the "free world."
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen cannot imagine and does not believe that the United States will use military or economic force to control Greenland.
Danish Foreign Minister Rasmussen, in turn, said that Greenland could become independent if its residents wanted it to, but it would not be a US state.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said that the EU will not allow other countries to attack its borders.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz warned against violent border changes in light of US President-elect Donald Trump's recent statements about claims to Greenland.
CNN writes that Danish officials fear that US President Donald Trump is much more serious about acquiring Greenland than he was in his first term.
Earlier, Greenland's Prime Minister Mute Egede said that the island does not want to be American or Danish but seeks independence, noting that this is nothing new.
On March 5, Trump said that the United States is ready to accept Greenland into its fold if the people are in favor: "We're going to get it one way or another." Source: https://censor.net/en/n3543394

Russia refused to discuss halt to strikes on civilian targets during talks in Riyadh – OP
During talks with the US in Riyadh, the Russian delegation refused to discuss the issue of ending attacks on Ukraine's civilian infrastructure.
Deputy Head of the Office of the President (OP) Ihor Zhovkva said this in an interview with Ukrinform, Censor.NET reports.
He stressed that Ukraine insisted that there should be a ban on shelling of civilian targets - residential buildings, schools, kindergartens, etc.
However, the Russian side in Riyadh told the United States that it allegedly could not discuss ending strikes on civilian infrastructure because it did not have the appropriate mandate.
"Indeed, we talked separately about civilian infrastructure - about residential buildings, schools, kindergartens, and so on. What did Russia do? During the negotiations, as far as we understand from the information provided by the American side, they refused to talk about civilian infrastructure at all, telling the American delegation that they had no mandate to discuss this issue," Zhovkva said.
The Deputy Head of the OP noted that on 25 March, Russia published its own list of energy infrastructure facilities that it claims should be exempt from attacks as part of a ceasefire.
"The American side did not agree to this list, because, just like the so-called statement about a Black Sea truce, it was released only in Russian. There is no such document on the websites of the White House or the U.S. State Department. This is simply a list compiled by the Russians to suit their own preferences," he said.
Russia, on the contrary, has recently intensified its shelling of Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure, the Deputy Head of the Office of the President said.
"You’ve seen all the incidents that have occurred in recent days following air silence Russia claims to be observing. The strikes on Kryvyi Rih and Sumy clearly prove that the Russians have no intention of halting their attacks — at least not on civilians," Zhovkva added.
The day before, in Saudi Arabia, the US delegation agreed with Ukraine and Russia to ensure safe navigation in the Black Sea and to "develop a mechanism" to ban attacks on the energy infrastructure of both sides. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3543583
Strengthening support for Ukraine is important element for strengthening Europe’s defense – Pistorius
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that strengthening military support for Ukraine is an important element for strengthening the European defense policy and ensuring peace in Europe.
He said this at the Europe 2025 conference in Berlin, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
He named three particularly important points in the restructuring of European defense. According to him, first, all EU countries should significantly increase defense spending. Secondly, it is necessary to create a single certification procedure and improve coordination in defense procurement. And third, support for Ukraine should be continued and strengthened.
"Reliable support for Ukraine is indispensable for peace in Europe," Pistorius said.
He also emphasized that reliable support for Ukraine is critical to ensuring peace in Europe. Pistorius said that, in his opinion, Russian President Vladimir Putin is not interested in a genuine ceasefire or peace, and therefore negotiations can only take place with the participation of Ukraine, which must receive genuine security guarantees.
"To end the Russian war, Ukraine must be fully involved and participate (in the negotiations). Any peace agreement must have truly reliable guarantees for Ukraine. Ukraine's armed forces must remain combat-ready and ready for defense. This is the only way to ensure the deterrent potential of the Russian army, which is constantly evolving," Pistorius said.
The minister also emphasized that the EU, although an important global power, has weaknesses in the defense sector, as it has long been dependent on the United States. He called on European countries to take more responsibility for the security of the continent and act quickly and in a coordinated manner. Pistorius pointed out the need for deregulation and increased interoperability in defense procurement, as well as the importance of increasing funding for security and defense in the next EU budget. Parliament passes law on cyber defense and critical infrastructure protection
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has passed a bill that strengthens the protection of information and cyber defense of critical state information resources and infrastructure.
This was announced by a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, Oleksandr Fediienko in a telegram, Censor.NET reports.
"A historic event took place today. The Parliament passed in the second reading the bill No. 11290," the People`s Deputy noted.
The bill was supported by 240 People`s Deputies.
As noted, the document provides for the expansion of the powers of specialized structures, the involvement of specialists from the private sector and the introduction of a cyberattack response system in accordance with European cybersecurity standards.
In particular, the law establishes the need to create a professional network of cybersecurity specialists in government agencies that process important data of Ukrainian citizens.
Under the new legislation, a national system will be established to respond to cybersecurity incidents, cyberattacks and cyber threats involving information and communication systems with limited access or critical infrastructure.
The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection will ensure the functioning of this system, which will include CERT-UA and regional response teams.
The law also standardizes methods of cryptographic protection of information and introduces a system for assessing the state of cyber defense. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3543551
Starmer and Rutte discuss support for Ukraine
The prime minister met NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Paris this morning, ahead of the coalition of the willing meeting.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Sky News.
"They discussed their enduring support for Ukraine, agreeing that Europe must do everything possible to keep them in the fight and keep up the pressure on Putin," Downing Street said.
A British government spokesman said that Starmer and Rutte recognized the "vital" role of the United States in "forging a path" for a ceasefire agreement between Russia and Ukraine.
The two sides also reaffirmed that Europe is ready to support a lasting and durable peace when it comes. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3543552
Greece has three conditions for participation in peacekeeping mission in Ukraine - media
Greece will take part in the international forces in Ukraine only under three conditions: a ceasefire agreement, no deployment in Russia and a clear exit strategy if hostilities resume.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to Ekathimerini.
As noted, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is set to reaffirm these conditions at a security summit in Paris, where leaders of the "coalition of the willing" will discuss security guarantees for Ukraine.
It is emphasised that Athens has made clear that any Greek involvement will only come after a formal ceasefire. Additionally, Greek troops will not operate in Russia, and in the event of a ceasefire violation by Moscow, they will be withdrawn immediately.
While some European countries had considered deploying troops under an EU mission, opposition from Russia and some member-states like Hungary has ruled this out. Greece favors an operation under UN oversight, believing it would provide broader international legitimacy.
If the mission proceeds, Greece’s role remains uncertain. Options include land deployment in Ukraine or naval participation in the Black Sea. The latter aligns better with Greek defense priorities. However, it is unclear how feasible that is, especially if Turkey’s proposal to take command of the force patrolling the sea is accepted.
It is also noted that Athens is treading carefully, balancing its commitment to Ukraine with national security interests. Unlike NATO, deployment in Ukraine offers no collective security protections for foreign troops, raising concerns over potential casualties. The location of deployment will be crucial, as risks differ significantly between eastern Ukraine and areas like Kyiv, Lviv or Odesa.
At the same time, it is noted that Greece is already contributing to the mission’s planning phase.
Earlier, it was reported that Europe wants to consider alternative options amid discussions about sending troops to Ukraine to ensure security. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3543549

Macron: Summit leaders agreed to continue supporting Ukraine and to uphold sanctions against Russia
The participants of the leaders’ summit in support of Ukraine agreed to continue providing assistance to the Ukrainian people and the Armed Forces, and reaffirmed that sanctions against Russia will remain in place until a comprehensive peace is achieved.
This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron following the summit in support of Ukraine, Censor.NET reports citing I-U.
"We will continue to support the Ukrainian people and the Ukrainian army. This is what is needed to make sure that we can prepare for peace. This is necessary to make sure that we can resist Russia's plan, which is to pretend to negotiate," Macron said.
He noted that Ukraine has prioritized strengthening its artillery, supplying ammunition, and strengthening its ground defense. Macron also announced the EU's decision to accelerate the disbursement of loans approved by the G7 countries, as well as the delivery of additional artillery systems.
In addition, the leaders of the summit confirmed that lifting sanctions against Russia is not yet under consideration. "With regard to additional support for Ukraine, we also unanimously supported and decided that the time has not yet come to lift sanctions. No sanctions should be lifted until peace is permanently established. We will continue to put economic pressure on the shadow fleets," Macron emphasized. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3543605
Russia has no right to dictate how Ukraine defends itself or how large its army should be
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia cannot dictate conditions regarding the number of Ukrainian troops.
He said this at a briefing following the summit of the "coalition of the willing," Censor.NET reports.
"Russia cannot dictate the rules for the defense of Ukraine, the number of troops. The entire coalition ("coalition of the willing" - ed.) that met today all agree that Ukraine must maintain a strong army to counter the Russian invasion. So it's important that the U.S. has the same attitude. Of course, the United States is important, and the decisions that America can demonstrate today can really affect the end of the war," the president said.
According to him, Putin wants to divide Europe and America, and the entire Kremlin machine has been working on this for years.
"We want the US to be stronger. I would agree with Macron that we all need America to be stronger in relation to Russia. We really want the US president to be stronger against Putin. And this is important to us," Zelenskyy said.

Zelenskyy: U.S. keeps changing terms of minerals deal
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the final version of the updated agreement with the United States on rare earth resources is not yet available, so it is too early to talk about signing the agreement.
He said this at a briefing following the summit of the "coalition of the willing," Censor.NET reports.
"The conditions are constantly changing. It seems that we have already agreed that there will be a framework agreement, and then a full agreement. Now the US is proposing to sign a full agreement at once. This requires a detailed study... I did not want the US to get the impression that we are against it. We are in favor of cooperation and do not want the United States to stop providing assistance or intelligence," the President explained.
Zelenskyy noted that at first, lawyers worked "on one agreement, then on another, and finally agreed on a framework agreement."
"We are acting with restraint, we are not nervous, we want to see the agreement. It's too early to talk about the conclusion. Lawyers will study it. We will support adequate proposals. If there are questions, there are always answers. It is important that Ukraine cooperates with the United States, so we act constructively every day," the president said, adding that he was not going to go to Washington for now because "there is no such issue on the agenda."

Macron: European "deterrence forces" will be deployed in Ukraine, covering several areas
French President Emmanuel Macron has announced that European "deterrence forces" will be deployed to Ukraine, but they will not be deployed on the front line in Ukraine.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Associated Press.
According to him, according to the "Franco-British" proposal, these troops should act as a tool of "deterrence" after the conclusion of a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. They could be deployed in the center of the country, along the Dnipro.
"It would be a force from several states, because there is no unanimity on this issue (...), present in pre-determined strategic locations with the Ukrainians and would have a deterrent effect against potential Russian aggression," the French president explained.
The possibility of deploying peacekeepers in western Ukraine or in a neighboring country is also being considered.
Macron added that these forces "will not be deployed against Russian forces on the first day of deployment," but will be forces that "will deter the Russians from attacking again."
However, Macron assured that they would be able to respond to a Russian attack: "If there was another aggression against Ukraine, these troops would actually be under attack. And our soldiers, when they are engaged and deployed, must react and respond," the French leader emphasized.
At a press conference following the results of the "coalition of the willing," Macron said that a delegation of British and French military officers would travel to Ukraine to develop the format of the future Ukrainian army.
"The deterrence forces will cover maritime, air, and ground domains and will be part of a broader security package," he added. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3543596
EU will not consider lifting sanctions against Russia without withdrawal of troops from Ukraine – European Commission
The European Union supports all diplomatic efforts aimed at establishing a just and lasting peace in Ukraine but will not consider lifting sanctions against Russia until Russian troops withdraw from Ukrainian territory.
This was stated by European Commission spokesperson Anita Hipper during a briefing in Brussels, according to Censor.NET, citing Ukrinform.
"These sanctions were imposed in the context of Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine. The end of Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified aggression against Ukraine, along with the unconditional withdrawal of all Russian military forces from the entire territory of Ukraine, is one of the key prerequisites for any review or lifting of sanctions. Russia must demonstrate genuine political will to end its criminal and unprovoked war of aggression," Hipper emphasized.
She emphasized that the EU's position remains unchanged: any peaceful resolution must guarantee a just and lasting peace for Ukraine.
Commenting on Russia’s demand to restore Russian banks’ access to SWIFT in exchange for a maritime ceasefire, Olof Gill, the European Commission’s spokesperson for economic security, noted that such statements demonstrate the effectiveness of the sanctions.
"The EU has extended this ban to Russian and Belarusian banks, which are no longer able to use the SWIFT payment system. This limits their ability to finance their criminal war of aggression. These banks can no longer easily receive foreign currency or transfer foreign assets abroad, which has negative consequences for both the Russian and Belarusian economies. Our sanctions are hitting the Russian economy — that’s exactly why they want them lifted," Gill explained.
Earlier, it was reported that the Russian Federation is stalling the implementation of ceasefire arrangements by putting forward additional demands — in particular, the lifting of sanctions and the removal of restrictions on the export of Russian agricultural products. MarkusUkraine is using F-16s from the Netherlands and Denmark to destroy Russian targets on the ground. This has been confirmed by the Ukrainian Air Force. Until recently, the fighters were only used to defend airspace against drones and missiles. A month ago, a video surfaced of an F-16 on combat mission. The aircraft was armed with eight US precision bombs. This fuelled speculation that the Ukrainians had begun shelling the Russian invasion force. However, the Air Force did not confirm the hefty expansion of the F-16's role at the time. The F-16 is the world's most successful fighter aircraft. This week, confirmation still came from the Ukrainian air force, but not very explicitly. A video published by the air force on Wednesday, featuring the first interview with an F-16 pilot, acknowledges that the F-16s have begun ground attacks. ‘Fighter pilots flying Western fighter jets show excellent results against both air and ground targets,’ the air force said.
It also showed footage of bombing of buildings. ‘The effectiveness of these attacks is very high,’ said the anonymous F-16 pilot. ‘If we wanted to, our bomb could fly in through someone's window.’ According to the air force, the Russians are being targeted, among others, with the GBU-39, a US 110-kilogram ‘hover bomb’ that can destroy targets up to 100 kilometres after launch. Also used is the Jdam-ER, a ‘dumb’ bomb that has been given an ‘electronic jacket’. This has made it a precision weapon. This US bomb has a range of 72 kilometres and flies towards its target via GPS. It is likely that the bombs used by Ukraine were supplied by the Netherlands, which gave 24 F-16s to Ukraine. The cabinet decided last year to arm F-16s for Ukraine with ground-attack bombs and missiles for 450 million euros. The missiles are meant for air combat. They can also shoot Russian cruise missiles out of the sky.
The munitions were then ordered from the US. ‘The Ukrainians should not only be able to fly the F-16s,’ Defence Minister Ruben Breukelmans said. 'They must also be able to deploy the aircraft. Armament is therefore crucial.' In the video, the F-16 pilot says he and his colleagues carry out several ground attacks every day. It is unclear which targets they pick out along the 1,200-kilometre front. The F-16s are also deployed to protect ageing Russian-made Ukrainian fighter jets, such as the MiG-29. The fighter pilot praises the F-16 and the Western precision weapons supplied. ‘Almost every missile hits its target,’ he said. ‘More than 80 percent of the missiles we fire hit the target, destroying Shahed drones as well as cruise missiles fired from sea, air and land.’
How many F-16s are now operational, the Ukrainian Air Force would not say. Defence Minister Roestem Umerov did say last month that most of Denmark's F-16s have already been delivered. The Danes have promised at least 19 aircraft. He also said the air force had again received a number of Dutch F-16s. Russia has so far failed to eliminate air bases from which F-16s operate. This is despite satellites to track F-16s and hypersonic weapons, such as the Kinzhal, at Russia's disposal. Those missiles can destroy a target thousands of kilometres away at lightning speed. Last week, the Ukrainian Air Force urged citizens not to post images of F-16s and other aircraft on social media, saying it would help the Russians. ‘Any information about the location of our bases, flight paths or manoeuvres can be used by the enemy,’ the air force said. ‘Video images of military flights in combat zones, especially those of F-16s that contain geolocation data, identifiable landmarks or other identifiable objects, pose a serious risk.’
^ Thank you for the information, made me glad reading about the F-16 are now being used for ground attack, which is also have been said in the video.
They are doing great, now the question pops-up did these F-16 arrive to late ?
and
The French fighter jet who should arrive soon, if not already can they cooperate with the F-16 ?

^French Mirage-2000s fighter jets have been modified to carry out ground attacks as well. French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Wednesday that Kyiv will get more Mirages. They have already seen action with success.

US is holding consultations with some countries on ceasefire monitoring – Zelenskyy
The United States will hold consultations with Saudi Arabia, Turkey and some European countries on monitoring the ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
"We have learned that the American side will hold consultations with both Saudi Arabia and Turkey, as well as with some European countries, regarding their readiness to monitor (the ceasefire and the suspension of attacks on energy facilities - ed.)
I don't know the results of all the conversations, so far our American partners have not told us about it, but they have voiced it, and we have voiced it to them that without monitoring (the partial ceasefire) will not work," Zelenskyy said. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3543853

I can’t guarantee peace deal to be concluded in week or month – Rubio
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio cannot say when exactly a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia will be reached.
According to Censor.NET, he said this during a conversation with journalists.
"This does not mean that I can guarantee you that an agreement will be concluded in a week or a month. I simply cannot set a time frame, because it does not depend on us. It depends on the Russians and it depends on the Ukrainians. It also depends on our partners in Europe, who have sanctions that I think have to be taken into account as part of any final agreement," he said.
Rubio said he was not ready to say whether Russia was " stalling" the negotiations.
"This war is complicated. As you can see, it has been going on for three years. And I never said it would be easy. We need to work hard with both sides, including the Russian side, with which we have not communicated for years," the US Secretary of State added.

Lammy on Russia’s night attack on Ukraine: Putin must agree to immediate, complete, unconditional ceasefire.
British Foreign Secretary David Lammy has responded to Russia's latest massive strike on Ukraine on March 28.
He wrote about this on the social network X, Censor.NET reports.
He said that such actions contradict the ceasefire negotiations and called on the Kremlin to immediately stop the fighting.
"Russia is still attacking Ukraine despite the ceasefire talks. These attacks have resulted in deaths and harm to civilians, and there are reports of damage to energy infrastructure. Putin must agree to an immediate, full, unconditional ceasefire, which is the first step toward a just and lasting peace," Lammy wrote.
According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on the night of March 29, Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with 163 drones, 89 of which were shot down and 51 imitators lost their location without any negative consequences.
The strike affected Kharkiv, Sumy, Poltava, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
It is also reported that this was the eighth combined attack on Naftogaz Group facilities since the beginning of the year and the eighteenth since the start of the full-scale invasion. Naftogaz CEO Roman Chumak said that experts are working to eliminate the consequences and assess the damage. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3543837
Ukraine may receive as much ammunition this year under Czech initiative as last year – Fiala
As part of the Czech initiative, in 2025, Ukraine may receive the same amount of ammunition as in 2024.
According to Censor.NET, citing Reuters, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said this after the summit in Paris.
"The Czech initiative to supply ammunition to Ukraine can deliver at least as many shells in 2025 as it did last year," Fiala said.
It is worth recalling that in February, the Czech Ministry of Defense reported that an initiative launched last year by the Czech government and funded by a number of NATO allies had provided Ukraine with 1.5 million pieces of artillery ammunition. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3543817

Revealed: Trump’s plan to force Ukraine to restore Putin’s gas empire (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/gift/34df812ab180a9d4)

From low to lower to lowest.
From Mapuc's link above:
Donald Trump is holding a gun to the head of Volodymyr Zelensky, demanding huge reparations payments and laying claim to half of UkraineÂ’s oil, gas, and hydrocarbon resources as well as almost all its metals and much of its infrastructure.
The latest version of his “minerals deal”, obtained by The Telegraph, is unprecedented in the history of modern diplomacy and state relations.
“It is an expropriation document,” said Alan Riley, an expert on energy law at the Atlantic Council. “There are no guarantees, no defence clauses, the US puts up nothing.
“The Americans can walk away, the Ukrainians can’t. I’ve never seen anything like it before.”
The text leaves little doubt that Mr TrumpÂ’s chief objective is to incorporate Ukraine as a province of AmericaÂ’s oil, gas and resource industries (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2025/03/27/revealed-trump-plan-force-ukraine-restore-putin-gas-empire/).
It dovetails with parallel talks between the US and Russia for a comprehensive energy partnership, including plans to restore West Siberian gas flows to Europe in large volumes, with US companies and Trump-aligned financiers gaining a major stake in the business.
The revived gas trade would flow through UkraineÂ’s network, and later via the Baltic as the sabotaged Nord Stream pipelines are brought back on stream.
The new draft states that the United States-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund will control Ukraine’s “critical minerals or other minerals, oil, natural gas (including liquified [sic] natural gas), fuels or other hydrocarbons and other extractable materials”.
All critical materials listed in the US Energy Act are covered, including both rare earths and 50 other minerals such as lithium, titanium, cobalt, aluminium and zinc.
The US will control infrastructure linked to natural resources “including, but not limited to, roads, rail, pipelines and other transportation assets; ports, terminals and other logistics facilities and refineries, processing facilities, natural gas liquefaction and/or regasification facilities and similar assets”.
Three of the five board members on the new fund will be chosen by the US. It will have “A” shares and golden shares. America will receive all the royalties until Ukraine has paid off at least $100bn of war debt to the US, with 4pc interest added – less than the $350bn floated earlier by Mr Trump but still half of Ukraine’s GDP, and unpayable.
Ukraine has only “B’ shares and will receive 50pc of the royalties only once its arrears are paid off.
The fund is registered in Delaware but under New York jurisdiction. The US has the first right of refusal on all projects. It has authority to examine the books and accounts of any Ukrainian ministry or agency whenever it wants during working hours.
(...)
GermanyÂ’s Bild Zeitung said talks have been underway for weeks in Switzerland to reopen the Nord Stream 2 pipelines, conducted secretly by ex-Stasi agent Matthias Warnig and Mr TrumpÂ’s envoy Richard Grenell, a man known for his Kremlin sympathies.
The terms would give US contractors operational control and a fat revenue stream, creating money out of “thin air”. A cynic might call it a legal “donation” to Mr Trump’s circle by the Kremlin.
“There is talk about Nord Stream. It would be interesting if the Americans put pressure on Europe, to make them stop refusing our Russian gas,” said Sergei Lavrov, Russia’s foreign minister.
--------------
I can only adequately think of this in terms and words of fecal language.
Add to it the mafia Don's war threats against Denmark, NATO, EU. (Yes, annexation is an act of war).

Total casualties of Ukrainian army reached one million !
Since the outbreak of the war, the Ukrainian authorities have been hiding the real losses in the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU), allegedly to prevent panic among Ukrainians, whereas the total casualties in manpower have reached 1 million, according to Ukrainian media.
Real losses
It is almost impossible to count the exact number of people killed, wounded and missing during the Russian-Ukrainian conflict due to misleading data from the Ukrainian command. It was reported that officers deliberately claimed the dead as missing in order to conceal the real frontline situation, with many of those actually missing being referred to in documents as serving in the army.
Meanwhile, analysts from the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross are hesitant to give an accurate estimate of casualties in the Ukrainian army due to the ongoing hostilities and limited access to data. However, in late October 2024, the secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, Oleksandr Lytvynenko, told members of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) that a total of 1,050,000 citizens had been drafted into the AFU.
Desertion in Ukrainian army
Military experts regard deserters as a separate category of irrecoverable losses of the Ukrainian army. According to Ukrainian media, the AFU has between 100,000 and 170,000 deserters. According to Verkhovna Rada MP Ihor Mosiychuk, the Ukrainian army has 170,000 servicemen who have deserted their units. Ukrainian experts argue that the number of deserters in the AFU will only grow, with forced mobilisation not contributing to raising morale.
According to the data, during the last exchange on 8 November 2024, 563 bodies of dead soldiers were returned to Ukraine, whereas Russia received 37. During the previous exchange on 18 October, Ukraine received 501 bodies, whereas Russia got 38.
The prolonged war leads to a significant weakening of the Ukrainian army. Intense fighting is unfolding almost along the entire front line, including the key city in eastern Ukraine, Kurakhove, and the stalled incursion into Russia’s Kursk region. The gradual advance of Russian troops, as well as Donald Trump‘s victory in the US presidential election, could force Kyiv to the negotiating table, whereas new major battles could lead to even more casualties.

Vance calls on Trump to fire Waltz over Signal chat scandal - Politico
U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles have called on President Donald Trump to fire National Security Advisor Mike Waltz over the Signal secret chat scandal.
According to Censor.NET, citing Yevropeiska Pravda, this is stated in the article by Politico.
Thus, it is noted that Vance, Wiles and White House Chief of Staff Sergio Gore suggested that Trump consider firing Waltz.
In turn, the US president agreed that Waltz had "screwed up," but ultimately decided not to fire him for now in order not to give the "liberal media" and the Democratic Party a reason to claim their righteousness.
The newspaper writes that immediately after the Signal scandal broke, outrage over Waltz's actions grew in the Trump administration: he not only did not admit guilt in the situation, but also did not offer to resign, at least formally.
However, after Trump's meeting with Vance and Wiles, the national security adviser publicly took responsibility for the incident - although he continued to place the blame on the journalist who wrote about the chat.
Two Politico sources reportedly suggested that Trump would eventually fire his national security adviser.
"For now, they (the Trump administration - Ed.) are hanging on to him (Volz - Ed.), but in a couple of weeks he'll be gone," one of them predicted.
Leak of confidential information from Signal chat
Earlier, the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic, Jeffrey Goldberg, accidentally joined a private chat on Signal where members of the US presidential administration discussed strikes on Yemen.
Trump also said that he was "unaware" of the report by The Atlantic journalist, who was accidentally added to a secret Signal chat where members of his administration discussed strikes on Yemen.
Subsequently, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth denied that US military plans were discussed in the chat room and accused The Atlantic's editor-in-chief of "spreading fake news." Source: https://censor.net/en/n3543985
Putin is skeptical about Vienna as platform for peace talks, as he considers it "hostile place" - Austrian Chancellor Stocker
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin does not accept Austria's proposal to become a platform for negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine, as he considers it a "hostile place".
According to Censor.NET, citing Ukrinform, Austrian Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker said this in a speech to the National Council.
"Austria offered itself as a platform for peace talks. As far as I know, the Russian Federation under President Putin is quite skeptical about this proposal, because he does not want to understand that even if we can distinguish between victim and perpetrator and know who was the aggressor in this war, this does not mean that we should be considered a hostile place for negotiations," Stocker said.
He emphasized that "Russia has launched a brutal war of aggression against a free country on our continent, in violation of international law."
According to him, Austria will continue to insist on the inadmissibility of distorting the roles of victim and aggressor, as well as on the need for peace to be just and sustainable. He also emphasized that no one wants peace more than Ukraine itself.
"We are ready to offer ourselves as a place for negotiations at any time and support everything that will lead to such a result. We are sticking to our position: Ukraine should be at the negotiating table, and Europe should also play a role, because I believe that the European Union and Europe can make a significant contribution to this process," Stocker added.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that negotiations with the Kremlin dictator resemble ping-pong, so Ukraine will agree to talk to someone who can represent Russia, including business representatives. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3543982

Russian negotiator suggests ceasefire may not be reached in 2025Russian negotiator Grigory Karasin cast doubt on the Trump administration's efforts to broker a quick ceasefire in Ukraine, saying on March 28 that the talks with the U.S. may not yield decisive results this year.
Karasin led the Russian delegation that held the 12-hour-long technical consultations with the U.S. in Riyadh on March 24. These talks led to an agreement on a partial ceasefire covering strikes against energy infrastructure and Black Sea operations.
The Russian official described the meeting with the U.S. delegation as "constructive" but acknowledged limited results, suggesting that the consultations will continue. When asked about the timeline for clear results in the negotiations, he said they might not come "this year or at the end of this year."
"It would be naive to expect any breakthrough results at the very first meeting," Karasin, chairman of Russia's Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, said in an interview with the state-owned TV channel Rossiya-24. https://kyivindependent.com/russian-negotiator-suggests-ceasefire-may-not-be-reached-in-2025/

The Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Grigory Karasin suggested that the results of the Ukrainian settlement should not be expected before the end of this year. The politician said this in an interview with the Rossiya-24 TV channel on Friday, March 28. According to the senator, positive results of the ceasefire talks will be, "maybe not this year or at the end of this year." In addition, Karasin noted that it is very naive to expect any breakthrough results at the very first meeting. He suggested that consultations between the Russian and American delegations will continue, but a breakthrough on this issue is possible "depending on the situation on the ground, including in political circles in Ukraine."
Kremlin prepares to launch multi-vector offensive along 1,000-km line of contactRussian troops are preparing for a new offensive in the coming weeks to intensify pressure on Ukraine and strengthen the Kremlin's position in ceasefire negotiations. Analysts said that the new offensive could last from six to nine months. Officials and analysts said this could give Russian leader Vladimir Putin grounds to drag out negotiations on a ceasefire in an attempt to seize more territory.
Ukrainian officials reiterated that Russia is not interested in a genuine dialogue to end the war. Analysts and military commanders told AP that as the spring fighting season approaches, the Kremlin is preparing for a multi-vector offensive along the 1,000-kilometre line of contact. Citing intelligence, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Russia was preparing new attacks in Sumy, Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.
AP noted that in the north, Russian and North Korean soldiers have almost deprived Kyiv of an important bargaining chip by retaking most of Russia’s Kursk Oblast. On the eastern front, fighting has also escalated in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts. Some commanders are concerned that Russia could move battle-hardened forces from Kursk Oblast to other parts of Ukraine’s east.
"It will be hard. The forces from Kursk will come on a high from their wins there," a commander of the Ukrainian battalion that is fighting in Donetsk Oblast said on condition of anonymity. Military analyst Oleksii Hetman, who has ties to the military general staff, told AP that Russia was preparing offensives on the front line that should last six to nine months, almost all of 2025. https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2025/03/29/7505102/

“Ready to wage war for a century”: Putin reportedly does not expect a quick peace in Ukraine.
No wonder his economy is in full war production mode. It even would possibly stall if war production is given up.
Did I say some weeks ago I think its possible the war would end due to exhaustion of both side? Maybe Ukrainian exhaustion, being further stabbed in its back by Trump. He simply is not match for Putin, never was, Putin plays on him like on a musical instrument. Trump currently is the best and sharpest weapon in Putin's arsenal.
https://www-tagesspiegel-de.translate.goog/internationales/bereit-fur-ein-jahrhundert-krieg-putin-geht-wohl-von-keinem-schnellen-ukraine-frieden-aus-13448062.html?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=de&_x_tr_pto=wapp
Putin's negotiating strategy appears simple, the sources say. He believes he has a good grasp of Trump and can therefore convince him to end the war on Russia's terms. However, a source familiar with the negotiations is also quoted as saying: " But Putin is also prepared to wage war for a century. His idea of waiting for Ukraine to collapse isn't all that stupid."

Following significant losses in the combat zone, the command is taking urgent measures to strengthen defences, including by transferring equipment from Crimea,” partisans say.
Underground sources note that electronic warfare systems, such as the Pole-21, which are designed to jam communications and counter Ukrainian drones, artillery, and aviation, are being actively delivered to the region. Additionally, there is an increase in air defence systems, particularly near strategic areas. The Atesh emphasizes that the rush to reinforce the region is driven not only by the loss of equipment but also by high casualties among Russian soldiers. Accurate coordinates provided by partisans and local residents play a significant role in this situation.
Meanwhile, Russian forces have warned residents that satellite dishes capable of receiving Ukrainian signals will be confiscated in Kherson Oblast. Activists from the Ukrainian Yellow Ribbon movement have reported that in some areas of the region, people have already been warned that inspections will be conducted systematically. Even residents of private houses are being forced to dismantle “suspicious” equipment. https://euromaidanpress.com/2025/03/29/pro-ukrainian-partisans-growing-impact-forces-russian-troops-to-deploy-more-air-defenses-in-kherson-oblast/?swcfpc=1

NYT: Biden administration was 'surprised,' 'angry' by Ukraine's sinking of the Moskva in 2022There was "anger," "surprise," and "panic" among the administration of former U.S. President Joe Biden after Ukraine sunk the Mosvka, the flagship of Russia's Black Sea Fleet, a report published by the New York Times on March 29 suggests. The Moskva sank on April 14, 2022, after being struck by two Ukrainian R-360 Neptune anti-ship missiles. The attack marked one of Kyiv’s most significant early victories in the full-scale war and dealt a major blow to Russia’s Black Sea fleet. According to the New York Times, American and Ukrainian naval officers were on an intelligence sharing call when the former noticed the ship sinking on radar screens. "Oh my God. Thanks a lot. Bye," the Ukrainians reportedly replied.

No surprise, I said already back then that the US did not want Russia to lose the war, or in the eternal phrasemongering of the one and only Babble-Olaf of the GDR2: "we want Russia not to win and Ukraine not to lose". Boiling the frog. Didn'T it work marvelously...!?
Biden's Ukraine policy always was despicable, and weak. Trump's is even worse. Utmost cynical they are both. And now Donny-the-Super-Don's minerals "deal": denying Ukraine any sovereignty, total control and exploitation of its ressouces wealth, veto rights in its inner fiscal policy making, total helplessness of Ukraine, and absolutely no American mandatory obligations whatsoever, just drivel and reality distortion and blackmailing. Its what Russia always wanted. Its American Mafia at work.

According to the presidential decree, Russians aged between 18 and 30 are to be called up by mid-July. This is the highest number of conscripts since the Kremlin has increasingly relied on professional contract and temporary soldiers as part of the army reform since 2012. Twice a year - in spring and fall - Russia still calls up more than 100,000 men for their one-year military service.
The Kremlin has already increased the number of troops in the Russian army three times since the invasion of neighboring Ukraine. Last fall, Putin ordered an increase in the target strength to 2.4 million military personnel - of which 1.5 million are soldiers. Officially, conscripts are not taking part in the war against Ukraine, although they have been involved in fighting in the Russian border region on several occasions.

Trump is only person who can mediate peace between Ukraine and Russia - Stubb
Finnish President Alexander Stubb believes that US President Donald Trump is perhaps the only person in the world who can mediate peace talks between Ukraine and Russia.
He said this in an interview with the media, Censor.NET reports.
"The conversations I had with President Trump in Florida boil down to two very simple messages. First, he is probably the only person in the world who can mediate peace between Ukraine and Russia. Why? Because Putin (Russian dictator Vladimir Putin - ed.) respects, and in many ways fears, Donald Trump," Stubb said.
The second message, he said, concerns the ceasefire. Stubb reminded that he proposed to set a "deadline" for Russia until April 20.
"If President Putin, who is the only one who does not agree to a ceasefire because the Americans want it, the Europeans want it, the Ukrainians want it, if he does not obey the ceasefire, then we have to go for a huge package of sanctions from the United States and Europe," the Finnish leader added.
To recap, Stubb also said that the United States' patience with Russia's position is "running out" and a new package of sanctions may appear in the near future.
Earlier it was reported that Finnish President Alexander Stubb met with US President Donald Trump at his estate in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3544282
Fico says von der Leyen called him"complete idiot " for talking to Trump
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called him a "complete idiot" for having talks with US President Donald Trump.
This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
Fico said that he had discussed with Trump the tariffs that the US president plans to impose on Europe. For this, Ursula von der Leyen scolded him for half an hour, calling him a "complete idiot."
"Today I spoke on the phone with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. We discussed two topics. The first was the duties that were imposed on us. She scolded me terribly: "Robert, what have you done? Why would you negotiate with Trump like that? Are you sane?" Waltz discusses not only Houthis, but also Ukraine in Signal - WSJ
In addition to discussing operations against the Houthis, US National Security Advisor Mike Waltz has created a chat room on the Signal messenger to discuss the peace agreement in Ukraine.
This is reported by The Wall Street Journal, Censor.NET informs.
Two US officials said that Waltz created many other national security conversations on Signal with members of the US government, including how to achieve peace between Russia and Ukraine, as well as military operations.
The sources declined to say whether these chats contained any classified information.
The sources also said that Trump retained Waltz's position because he did not want to give Democrats and the media a reason to criticize him.
According to the source, if the news of the chat had first appeared in a conservative media outlet, Waltz would have been fired.
The publication notes that the White House is conducting an internal campaign against Waltz. His ideological opponents want to remind Trump that Waltz has not always been with him: he opposed the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and Syria, supported aid to Ukraine, and worked on national security legislation with Liz Cheney, who opposed Trump's attempts to cancel the 2020 elections.
Subsequently, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth denied that US military plans were discussed in the chat room and accused The Atlantic's editor-in-chief of "spreading fake news." Source: https://censor.net/en/n3544250
European Commission: Hungary’s poll on Ukraine’s EU membership is internal affair of country
The European Commission considers the intention of the Hungarian authorities to conduct a consultative survey on Ukraine's future membership in the EU to be an internal affair of this country.
This was stated by the European Commission spokesman Marcus Lammert, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
"Regarding Hungary and the poll. We are aware of the decision to hold a new consultative vote, which was launched by the Hungarian government, on Ukraine's accession to the EU. This initiative is a matter for national authorities. Our position is clear: enlargement is and remains a priority for this European Commission. Ukraine belongs to the European family, and that is why the EU has opened accession negotiations with Ukraine in June 2024," the European Commission spokesperson emphasized.
Lammert emphasized that Ukraine has proved its determination to move forward with EU membership and is achieving significant results in reforms to transform the country, while continuing to fight for its own survival and defending itself against Russian aggression.
"More than ever before, EU enlargement policy is a strategic investment in the long-term peace, stability, prosperity and security of our entire continent. We must make no mistake - this is about our own security, as there will be no European security without Ukraine's security," Lammert said.
According to him, EU enlargement is in the interests of new and existing member states. "This is a watershed moment for Europe, so there is no room for hesitation now. The European Commission intends to continue to support all partners in the enlargement process, including Ukraine, and to achieve sustainable progress on their way to EU membership," the spokesman added.
At the same time, the European Commission refrained from commenting on how the agreement on the exploitation of Ukraine's natural resources proposed by the United States could affect the process of its European integration, as such an agreement has not yet been formed and is still subject to negotiations. This is reported by the Russian media, Censor.NET reports.
"To carry out from April 1 to July 15, 2025, a call-up for military service of citizens of the Russian Federation aged 18 to 30 years who are not in the reserve and are subject to military service in accordance with the Federal Law of March 28, 1998. A secret military partnership between the US and Ukraine went much further than thought, according to an investigation by US newspaper The New York Times. Even attacks on Russian territory were supported. Five remarkable insights show just how deep US involvement in the war in Ukraine has been so far. For almost three years before Trump returned to power, the United States and Ukraine had been working closely together in an exceptional intelligence, strategy, planning and technology partnership. The evolution and workings of this cooperation were known only to a select group of US and officials. The Pentagon has now been remarkably transparent, giving more details about the $66.5 billion in weapons supplied to Ukraine. However, an investigation by The New York Times reveals that US involvement in the war went much deeper than previously thought. The secret alliance focused both on setting overall military strategy and passing highly accurate targeting information to Ukrainian soldiers in the field.
A US base in Wiesbaden, Germany, provided the Ukrainians with the coordinates of Russian troops on their territory.
The idea behind the deal was that the United States' close cooperation with Ukraine would compensate for Russia's huge advantages in manpower and armaments. To guide the Ukrainians in deploying their increasingly sophisticated arsenal, the United States created an operation called Task Force Dragon. The secret heart of the cooperation was at the US Army command centre in Wiesbaden. Every morning, US and Ukrainian military officers determined which Russian units, equipment or infrastructure should be attacked first. Intelligence officers from the US and its allies analysed satellite images, radio broadcasts and intercepted communications to locate Russian positions. Task Force Dragon then gave the Ukrainians the coordinates to attack these targets. Military officials were concerned that it could be too provocative to simply call the locations to be attacked ‘targets’. Therefore, they were referred to as ‘points of interest’
US intelligence and artillery quickly helped Ukraine turn the tide against the Russian invasion.
In spring 2022, the Biden administration authorised the delivery of High Mobility Artillery Systems (HIMARS). These are advanced missile launchers equipped with satellite-guided missiles that could hit targets at a distance of up to 80 kilometres. In the first year of the war, the Ukrainians were extremely dependent on the United States for intelligence. Task Force Dragon controlled and oversaw almost every HIMARS attack. The attacks caused an increase in Russian casualties, and the 2022 Ukrainian counteroffensive was largely successful. In December, the Ukrainians surprisingly prevailed in a classic David versus Goliath battle against their Russian opponent.
The Biden administration continued to push its boundaries.
From the beginning, government officials tried to draw a red line: the United States was not at war with Russia, but wanted to support Ukraine. Yet they were concerned that certain measures might provoke Putin to attack NATO targets or even carry out nuclear threats. Although the government gradually accepted more and more risks to protect Ukraine from the growing threat, many of the most sensitive and provocative steps were taken in secret:
To ease the ban on the presence of US troops on Ukrainian soil, Wiesbaden was authorised to send a dozen military advisers to Kyiv, Ukraine's capital. To avoid attracting public attention, the Pentagon initially called them ‘subject-matter experts’. Later, the team was expanded to some 30 men, and the military advisers were eventually allowed to travel to Ukrainian command posts closer to the front.
In 2022, the US Navy was authorised to provide Ukraine with information on targets for drone attacks on warships just outside the territorial waters of Russia-annexed Crimea. The CIA was given the green light to support Ukrainian operations within Crimean waters. That autumn, the intelligence agency assisted Ukrainian drones in covert attacks on Russian warships in the port of Sevastopol.
In January 2024, a team of US and Ukrainian military officers worked a joint operation in Wiesbaden. This Operation Lunar Hail used the allies' long-range missiles combined with Ukrainian-made drones. They used these to attack some 100 Russian military targets in Crimea. The operation was largely successful and forced the Russians to withdraw their equipment, facilities and troops in Crimea to the Russian mainland.
Eventually, the US military and CIA were allowed to help with attacks in Russia.
The Russian border posed the biggest challenge to defining arrangements and restrictions. Last spring, to protect the northern city of Kharkiv from a Russian attack, the government authorised the creation of an ‘ops box’ - a zone on Russian territory within which US officers in Wiesbaden could provide Ukrainians with precise coordinates. The first version of that operating area stretched across much of Ukraine's northern border. The zone was later expanded when North Korea sent troops to counter Ukrainian attacks in Russia's Kursk region. The US military was later authorised to carry out missile strikes in an area in southern Russia where the Russians were storing troops and equipment for their offensive in eastern Ukraine.
Traditionally, the CIA was not allowed to provide intelligence on targets on Russian territory. But the CIA could request ‘variations’, which amounted to exceptions to support attacks for specific targets. For example, a large ammunition depot was identified in Toropets, 470 kilometres north of the Ukrainian border. On 18 September, Ukrainian drones carried out a massive attack on the depot. The explosion, which was similar to a small earthquake, left a crater the size of a football field. Later, the CIA was authorised to support Ukrainian drone attacks in southern Russia to slow the advance in eastern Ukraine.
Political divisions within Ukraine played an important role in the failure of the 2023 counter-offensive.
The 2023 counteroffensive was meant to build momentum after the triumphs of the first year of the war. But after holding strategic war talks in Wiesbaden and defining a joint strategy, the plan ran into internal political tensions in Ukraine. The head of Ukraine's armed forces, General Valery Zaluzhny, embraced the plan for an attack towards the southern city of Melitopol. The action would cut off Russian supply lines. But his rival and subordinate, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, had his own plan: he tried to invade the occupied eastern city of Bakhmut to seize control of Russian positions. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy backed Syrskyi and decided to distribute ammunition and troops over two fronts instead of one concentrated attack. The Ukrainians were unable to recapture Bakhmut, and within months the counter-offensive ended in failure. Russia regained the upper hand.

If Trump would offer simply a fair deal - the Ukrainians most likely would be glad to accept it. But he wants their total self-subjugation and turning them into a colony delivering ressources for way under value, leaving internal control over Ukrainianian fiscal policy to the US with total veto rights, and Ukraine doing his buddy Vladimir the favour to seize to exist as a sovereign nation and ethnic culture (and until today Ukrainians insist on that they are NO RUSSIAN). Who is this Trump to tell them differently...?
Here is the deal: let Ukraine order weapons in the US - and pay their usual market price - in ressources. Fair, straight, simple, tit for tat, weapons for minerals, calculated by counting both in their financial market value. Bartering its called. But Trump wants to plunder Ukraine and throw it before the Russian bear. Fair deals are not his taste. Never were: read about his business biography.
And again, its a personal thing for him, his offended psychpathic ego that wants Zelenskji personally suffering and kneeling before him for that he refused to help him to bring down Hunter Biden during the elections back then. Trump holds Zelenskji responsible for having helped to "steal" the elections from him. Trump wants revenge. Personally, egocentric, blood-thirsty. He wants to punish Zelenskyi, and thats also a reaosn why Trump eants to help Putin to subjugate Ukraine: its the penultimate humiliation for his intimate enemy Zelenskji: that Zelenskji must see his country falling despite his efforts to save it. Trump wants to subjugate Ukraine not over political issues, and the war, and Russia, and even explotiing its mieral wealth is just a scneario that maqy or may not come as a bonus - but in the main Trump'S deep-rooting psychological motivation is his own perosnal offended ego. You cannot understand Trump in full wiothout consideirng the heavy psyhcolgical basis in all what he does, and that basis is that of a deeply narcissistic, anti-social psychopath. Thats how psychopaths tick: they punish if they meet disobedience, they retaliate. Brute force.
In the end, what enrolls in the US currently can only be described as fascism unfolding. It adds its own new American flavour to the ideological concept, its own typical interpretation of the old theme just like German and Italian fascism were slighty different, too, or fascism and socialism at first glance seem to differ but in the end are just of the same roots, are just two masks of one and the same insane actor - but no other term of politology seems to be able to get closer to adequately describe what happens in the US. If this does not get stopped, I will need to refer to the USA of today as the FST in the future: the Fascist States of Trump.
I read they are now start hacking away at the secular separation between state and religion in the US. Fundamentalists always dreamed of this and tried it, but its now at senators level that they push forward according legislation in several tstaes. A really threatening scenario. Fascism in religious disguise, it cannot get much worse. Spooky that I described this possible scenario already twenty years ago during the 2003 Iraq war. Some American forum members back then laughed. Well...

Russia takes US peace proposals seriously, but has its own priorities - Russian Foreign Ministry
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Moscow has not yet heard from Trump any signals to Kyiv to end the war.
This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Russian media.
"The U.S. position on Ukraine does not currently require solving the problems associated with the root causes of the conflict, it must be overcome," he said.
The Russian deputy foreign minister noted that Moscow takes Washington's proposals seriously, but has its own priorities.

Putin tests limits of Trump’s patience in ceasefire talks, - Hill
US President Donald Trump is growing increasingly frustrated with dictator Vladimir Putin, as the latter's demands are delaying ceasefire talks in Ukraine and dashing the US leader's hopes for a quick end to the war.
According to Censor.NET, this was written by Laura Kelly, a foreign policy reporter for The Hill newspaper, in her article "Putin tests limits of Trump’s patience in ceasefire talks".
Thus, Putin's demands for a new leadership in Ukraine prompted Trump to threaten Russia with sanctions on Russian oil exports if Moscow does not demonstrate more flexibility in negotiations with Kyiv.
Ukraine has supported the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire, as well as an end to energy strikes and an agreement to limit attacks in the Black Sea. However, the Russian delegation to Saudi Arabia put forward various conditions for any agreement, calling on the US to help lift sanctions on Russian banks and promote Russian fertilisers and agricultural products on the global market.
The author recalled that the Trump administration has prioritised improving relations with Russia, and US officials sometimes repeat the Kremlin's theses.
At the same time, many Republicans still support Ukraine and are sceptical that Putin will agree to an acceptable deal. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3544390

EU supports automatic liability for Russia’s war crimes against Ukraine - Kallas
EU High Representative Kaja Kallas has stated the need for automatic responsibility for the crimes of the Russian leadership and war crimes against Ukrainians, emphasizing the importance of justice and support for Ukraine.
She said this on Tuesday in Strasbourg during a plenary session of the European Parliament, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.
"It is clear that responsibility for crimes of aggression, that is, crimes of leadership, when someone decides to attack another country, as well as war crimes, should be more automatic," Kallas said.
Kallas emphasized that one of the main challenges is the impunity that used to be possible. Thanks to modern technology, such as photographs, phone records, and radio transcripts, it is now impossible to deny that crimes have been committed. She emphasized the importance of collecting evidence, including documented cases of forced displacement and deportation of Ukrainian children, which are among the most serious human rights violations.
"The number of crimes committed in this war is simply unsurpassed," she emphasized.
The EU High Representative also said that the birth rate in Ukraine has dropped by 30% as a result of the war, emphasizing how devastating the war is for the country's future. She also mentioned the EU sanctions against more than 70 people responsible for the deportation of children from Ukraine.
"Russia's campaign against human life and dignity truly has no limits. We also see this in reports of enforced disappearances, torture, extrajudicial executions, sexual violence against civilian prisoners and prisoners of war by Russian armed forces in the occupied territories," said Kallas.
Kallas also reiterated the EU's support for the establishment of a special tribunal to investigate the crime of Russian aggression and its support for Ukraine in its quest for justice. She noted that the EU is actively assisting in the investigation of more than 117,000 criminal cases in Ukraine.
"That is why the EU also supports the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine by strengthening its capacity to investigate and prosecute international crimes committed in Ukraine, including through the EU Civilian Advisory Mission. And with regard to the specific crime of aggression, the EU is working to establish a special tribunal," Kallas said. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3544398

Think Russia Is Winning the War? Here’s the Cost of Every Mile Gained“Ukraine is collapsing. Russia is advancing. The war is already decided.” You’ve seen these headlines. You’ve heard the pundits. You may have even believed them. But the latest OSINT-verified data tells a radically different story, one built on numbers, not narratives. According to a combined analysis from ISW, Oryx, Ukrainian intelligence, and international economic monitors, Russia’s 2025 war effort is a masterclass in unsustainable strategy.
Territorial Gains: Painfully Small
Since January 2025, Russia gained only 73 square miles, roughly 3 Manhattans.
Compared to 2024, that’s an 83% slowdown despite a higher concentration of troops.
Each square mile gained cost 1,433 Russian soldiers, up 47% from 2024.
Personnel Losses: Catastrophic Attrition
104,650 Russian soldiers killed or wounded so far in 2025, 1,350 per day.
Reliance on conscripts (up to 40% of front lines) is growing, drawing from occupied territories and even migrants.
Armoured Vehicle Losses: Mechanization Collapse
2,565 tanks, AFVs, and artillery systems destroyed in less than 3 months.
T-90M production: just 80/year vs. 1,400+ MBTs lost/year.
Russian armoured capacity projected to fall to 23% of operational need by end of 2025.
Industrial and Economic Breakdown
Defence spending: $145 billion (32% of state budget).
Yet factories face 45.5% inflation, labour shortages, and heavy reliance on North Korean shells (67% of supply).
GDP growth slowing to 1.3%, down from 5.6% in 2024.
Ukraine: Strategic Repositioning, Not Collapse
Ukraine withdrew from parts of Kursk to stretch Russian logistics and divert BTGs from Donbas.
81% of Russian missiles and 63% of drones are now intercepted.
Domestic production of 16 Bohdana howitzers/month and 3,000 FPV drones/day is replacing Western dependence.
The Cost of 1 Square Mile in 2025:
1,433 soldiers lost
35 armoured vehicles destroyed
~$12.5 million in financial cost
At this rate: To gain just 500 km², Russia would need to lose 450,000 soldiers and 12,600 vehicles, a pace incompatible with its demographic and industrial capacity. Conclusion: The Myth of Collapse Works Only if You Ignore the Numbers Russia’s war machine is grinding forward, but at an astronomical price. Ukraine is trading space for attrition, and it’s working. Attrition is becoming strategy. Russia still has forces, but increasingly fewer tools, less time, and growing domestic pressure. Does time really favour Moscow, or it is yet another Putin’s tricks? I guess we will find out soon. https://ukrainetoday.org/think-russia-is-winning/

As I use to say: Fear the worst, hope for the best.
Now you have posted what Russia have lost in life and materials. What about Ukraine-What have they lost in life and material ?
Is our news agencies lying when they say Ukraine has problem getting fresh soldiers to the front ?
Markus
Would not say lying, but they do not know If you can do incursions into Russian Belgorod you have not so big problems, the media states. Russia still can not win with its mass, this doctrine is not from this time.
Would not say lying, but they do not know If you can do incursions into Russian Belgorod you have not so big problems, the media states. Russia still can not win with its mass, this doctrine is not from this time.
You're right-Despite the huge masses of soldiers and material, Russia is unable to conquer huge land areas.
The other thing-Wanna know both sides loses is just me who want that
Everyday I hear about Russians loses and how they having problem getting fresh meat to the meatgrinder in Ukraine.
I do understand since we are supporting Ukraine, we keep quite around this topic.

Russia's mass cannot win the field battle, but it can suffocate the enemy over the time distance. Thats what war of attrition is about: TIME. The bigger numbers hold out longer, and that way: "win".
The cost is something different, but Russia obviously thinks its worth the costs. And it is able to pay it so far.
Belgorod means little, it is a PR stunt show to get positve headlines of some sort. Its an established pattern by Ukraine: they suffer setback, and immediately try to remodulate the headlines by staging a counter offensive somewhere: Cherson, Kursk, now Belgorod. Strategically it means nothing, its just war in the information space and for media supremacy.
Relevant is more how high Ukraine's losses were at Kursk - and it seems they were a desaster. Especially the material ones. The Russians were recently parading equipment in masses that fleeing Ukrainians had to leave behind. Ukraine paid way too much and gained far too little compensation.
Two things go well currently for Ukraione, howev er. First, it managed to delay Russian progess at Pokrovsk, which was not necessarily to be expected, second, and that is more relevant, it has developed new long range missiles and long range drones enabling it to strike into Russia up to 1000 km deep. Fuel dumps, ammo depots, HQ and so forth all are in reach within that distance. I think of all worries the russians currently have, this probabaly is the biggest. Is it a deciding variable? That depends on whether or not Ukraine has enough of these ammunitions to really saturate the enemy targets with them. And here is where I have doubts and think they depend on Western missiles for the simple reason that they cannot make enough of their own. The pinpricks make the Russian bear scratch itself - they hardly knock it down, there are simply not enough pinpricks for that.
Still, Russia trying to invade Ukraine and getting away with it, China watching in amazement the US siding with Putin ... it will act accordingly with Taiwan. All this could have been averted.
Agreed :yep:
How exactly was Russia going to be prevented from getting away with it?
How exactly was something that hasn't happened yet going to be averted?

Instead it was Biden and Scholz and Macron versus Putin - and none of the three were a match for Putin. And Trump is not one bit better, he is just different - and even worse.

Key Takeaways From America’s Secret Military Partnership With Ukraine
An investigation by The New York Times has revealed that America was woven into the war far more than previously known. :yeah:
With remarkable transparency, the Pentagon has offered a public accounting of the $66.5 billion in weaponry it has supplied to Ukraine. But a New York Times investigation reveals that America’s involvement in the war was far deeper than previously understood. The secret partnership both guided big-picture battle strategy and funneled precise targeting information down to Ukrainian soldiers in the field.
A U.S. base in Wiesbaden, Germany, supplied the Ukrainians with the coordinates of Russian forces on their soil.
The idea behind the partnership was that America’s close cooperation with Ukraine would compensate for Russia’s vast advantages in manpower and weaponry. To guide the Ukrainians as they deployed their ever-more-sophisticated arsenal, the Americans created an operation called Task Force Dragon.
The secret center of the partnership was at the U.S. Army garrison in Wiesbaden, Germany. Each morning, U.S. and Ukrainian military officers set targeting priorities — Russian units, pieces of equipment or infrastructure. American and coalition intelligence officers searched satellite imagery, radio emissions and intercepted communications to find Russian positions. Task Force Dragon then gave the Ukrainians the coordinates so they could shoot at them.

Europe asks itself if America is still on it's side. Well we just lost four of our soldiers taking part in a NATO training exercise in Lithuania. They are certainly not the first Americans to loose their lives defending Europe. Knew a couple people myself who gave the ultimate sacrifice for European defense back in the '70's. Maybe we should ask their families that question.

Palisa: 10-12 countries are ready to join coalition of willing
The "Coalition of the Willing", which plans to deploy a military contingent on the territory of Ukraine, is ready to join 10-12 countries in one format or another.
This was stated by the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palisa, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
"During the President's visit to Paris, an agreement was reached to hold a meeting in Ukraine. It will concern practical military planning, in particular, the presence of the contingent. At this meeting we will discuss our common vision of further actions. Representatives of France and the United Kingdom will definitely participate. Representatives of other countries may also join. Currently, about ten to twelve countries are ready to join the coalition.
The only question is in what format it will be implemented. That is why discussions are ongoing: we have our basic vision and our partners' vision based on their capabilities," said Palisa.
He added that after all the details are agreed upon, it will be possible to move on to a more substantive conversation, and a second meeting will be held soon, which will be more technical. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3544924
Zelenskyy: Talks between US and Russia on unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine continue
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that during the talks in Saudi Arabia, Russia did not agree to an unconditional ceasefire, but negotiations between the United States and the Russian side on this topic are ongoing.
He said this during a conversation with the heads of territorial communities in the Chernihiv region, Censor.NET reports.
"Then in Saudi Arabia, you know, we agreed to an unconditional ceasefire. Russia has not agreed to it yet, we see that. Although we know that there are conversations between Americans and Russians on this topic. There are non-public conversations," Zelenskyy said.
According to the President, the United States and Europe have their own interests in the issue of a quick ceasefire, and they are united in putting pressure on Russia.
"I think it is possible to do this as soon as possible in the coming weeks, maybe months, or it can be different: sometimes it happens in one moment. Especially with this part of the end of the war," he said.
The Head of State emphasized that the completion of the hot phase of the war is a complete ceasefire, and this is the right step that Ukraine supports.
"As for the other step, there will be time later, for example, the first agreements may take a month, two months, whatever, to be honest. But this is a chance for the countries to start diplomatic options for certain dialog formats. They can be really different, completely different. It takes time," Zelenskyy added. "At the meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels, I emphasized that we need strong NATO muscles and strong political will to build them. Economic guarantees, including EU membership, are foundation of just peace for Ukraine, Zelenskyy said
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that economic guarantees should be enshrined in documents after the end of the war in order to ensure Ukraine’s access to EU funding and programs.
He said this during a meeting with the heads of territorial communities in the Chernihiv region, Censor.NET reports.
"Finance is part of the security guarantees. Financial support is important for us. The first is the European Union as an economic union, which we should join in the near future. We are counting on it. For us, this means economic guarantees and access to funding. Freedoms, rights, and values that we share with Europeans are also important — but it is equally important that we are on equal footing and have access to all relevant programs," Zelenskyy said.
The President added that membership in the European Union will open up significant economic prospects for Ukraine, particularly for the agricultural sector of the Chernihiv region, where there are great opportunities for exporting products. "It is very important to understand and know this, because this is the return of money to your region from exports (of agricultural products)," he said.
Zelenskyy emphasized that these economic guarantees, along with rights and freedoms, are part of a just peace that must be enshrined in international agreements. "So that no one can block this in the future, we want guarantees. And it is very important to fix them in the relevant documents at the end of the war," he added. Trump’s trade tariffs dealt blow to US economy — Bloomberg
The introduction of new tariffs by the Donald Trump administration has resulted in significant losses for American assets, triggering a drop in stock indices and a weakening of the US dollar.
Bloomberg reported this, according to Censor.NET.
According to the report, US stock index futures fell by more than 4% following the introduction of the new tariffs, which also caused the dollar to weaken and the yield on 10-year Treasury bonds to drop to its lowest level since October of last year.
Meanwhile, European and Asian markets suffered smaller losses. The Stoxx Europe 600 index declined by 1.9%, but the euro strengthened by 2.2% against the dollar, and the Japanese yen rose by 1.9%. Over the course of the day, the dollar experienced its sharpest drop in two years, as investors adjusted to the potential negative economic consequences.
Ray Attrill, an expert at National Australia Bank Ltd, noted that rising concerns about U.S. economic growth — driven by the new tariffs and falling stock indices — are contributing to the weakening of the dollar, which is losing its traditional role as a safe-haven reserve currency.
Reports indicate that the U.S. stock market was already experiencing volatility, and the new measures have only worsened the situation. Since the beginning of the year, the S&P 500 has fallen by 3.6%, and the Nasdaq 100 by 7%. U.S. tech companies have also incurred losses. In contrast, Germany’s DAX index has risen by 10% in 2025.
Against this backdrop, investors are actively seeking safe-haven assets, anticipating potential countermeasures from other countries. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3544902
Ukraine has solved some manpower shortages in war effort, US general saysWASHINGTON, April 3 (Reuters) - Ukraine appears to have resolved some of its shortages of troops fighting against Russia, including by widening the pool of eligible recruits, the top U.S. general in Europe said on Thursday. U.S. Army General Christopher Cavoli also underscored that any U.S. cutoff in U.S. provision of weapons and intelligence to Ukraine would be extremely harmful to its war effort, despite Kyiv's attempts to diversify its supply of weapons suppliers. The comments came after President Donald Trump temporarily cut off some assistance to Ukraine after an Oval Office blow up with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in which Vice President JD Vance complained about Kyiv's manpower shortages and Trump said Zelenskiy didn't "have the cards" to end the war without U.S. backing.

[Tagesspiegel] (https://www.tagesspiegel.de/internationales/der-text-ist-ein-grauen-was-in-trumps-neuem-entwurf-fur-den-ukraine-rohstoffdeal-steht-13471933.html) "The text is a horror": What Trump's new draft of the Ukraine raw materials deal contains
The scandal in the White House prevented the conclusion of a raw materials deal between the US and Ukraine. Now the Americans have presented a new draft – and it's quite something.
By Valeriia Semeniuk
"Plundering," "slavery," "colonial enslavement of Ukraine": Ukrainian and Western media have found harsh terms in recent days for the new version of the so-called raw materials deal that the US wants to conclude with the country attacked by Russia.
A quick reminder: The agreement, which gives Washington a share of revenue from Ukrainian natural resources, should have been signed long ago. US President Donald Trump had pushed for it at the beginning of the year, but his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, eventually caved.
The Tagesspiegel app: Current news, background information, and analysis delivered directly to your smartphone. Plus the digital newspaper. Download it for free here.
But then, on February 28, the famous scandal in the White House occurred, in which Trump ejected Zelensky from his government headquarters after an argument in front of live cameras. And the raw materials agreement seemed to be off the table for the time being.
But now the issue is back on the agenda. Ukraine will face "very big problems" if it backs out and refuses to sign the planned agreement, Trump threatened last Sunday. However, the content of the deal has been changed in recent weeks – to Kyiv's disadvantage.
While it was originally primarily about US participation in the revenues from the mining of so-called rare earths, oil and gas have now been added. This is according to statements by Ukrainian politicians who have been given access to the draft. The White House also reportedly wants to co-manage Ukrainian infrastructure such as ports, pipelines, and the railway network.
"The text I saw is simply horrific," said shocked Ukrainian MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak. The only hope, he said, is that it is not yet a final document, but a draft.
However, Zheleznyak should also be aware that Trump, who temporarily withheld all military aid from Ukraine in order to impose his will in negotiations with Russia, is not known for his willingness to compromise.
One of Washington's fundamental conditions is that Ukraine should recognize $120 billion in previous US aid as debt.
That is certainly less than the $350 billion Trump initially wanted. But for the war-torn country, whose gross domestic product in 2024 was $180 billion, it is still overwhelmingly high. Many in Kyiv are also offended that the new US president wants back money that his predecessor, Joe Biden, once gave them as aid among allies.
According to the deal, Ukrainian debt is also considered a basic US contribution to a Ukrainian-American investment fund intended to benefit reconstruction.
Ukraine is rich in natural resources. However, this Donetsk coal mine is currently located in Russian-occupied territory.
If Trump has his way, the fund will be managed by a "general partner" appointed by the US. Ukraine, on the other hand, will only be a "limited partner": without decision-making power, but with the financial obligation to pay 50 percent of future income to the fund. An earlier version of the draft had envisioned the two sides as equal partners with equal rights.
Three of the five seats on the fund's supervisory board now go to Washington, and only two to Ukraine. And the US will have the primary right to invest in the Ukrainian economy. Only if the American side is not interested in investing will Kyiv have the right to negotiate with other states.
"Ukraine has become a hostage of Trump, who is notorious for his aggressive business practices," Yevhen Mahda, director of a Ukrainian think tank called the Institute for World Politics, told the Tagesspiegel newspaper. Yevhen Mahda is a political scientist and heads the Ukrainian think tank Institute for World Politics.
On the one hand, such an agreement would be political suicide for Zelensky, says Mahden. Furthermore, it is unlikely that a majority in parliament will vote for ratification of the document in its current form. "Without ratification, however, the agreement cannot enter into force," explains Mahda.
However, the political scientist also sees the significant risk that non-signing could pose for his country: The easily offended Trump could perceive this as a public slap in the face. "The US president is already annoyed by Zelensky's intransigence, which he perceives as an inability to negotiate," says Mahda. "Rejection of the agreement could be the final straw that leads to a final split between Ukraine and the US – with unforeseeable consequences."
On the other hand, the expert believes it cannot be ruled out that Trump is deliberately pushing the terms of the deal so high that Ukraine could no longer agree to it. Then, he argues, Trump could officially blame Zelensky for the failure of his peace initiative.
Kyiv therefore has little choice but to hope that Washington will soften its own demands. This did indeed work once before with the previous version of the deal – the one Zelenskyy was supposed to sign during his US visit at the end of February. Even then, the US side's ideas originally went significantly further than those ultimately reflected in the final draft.
Mustafa Nayem is the former head of the State Agency for the Reconstruction of Ukraine.
The former head of the State Agency for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, Mustafa Nayem, refuses to give up his confidence. "It is necessary to make a number of changes that ensure Ukraine's equal representation and reduce financial risks," he says. "Then the model envisaged in the agreement would transform from a threat to Ukraine into a development opportunity."
But Nayem has already negotiated with the US investment agency DFC, which is now slated to co-found the new US-Ukrainian Development Fund. He therefore also knows: "The DFC is primarily concerned with protecting American investments. Therefore, Ukraine should not appeal to political sympathies, but rather to the pragmatic interests of the United States."
His optimism is therefore extremely cautious, as Najjem himself admits. "So far, the agreement has been formulated entirely in the interests of the American side," he says. "Without any real powers or guarantees for Ukraine."

NATO is not participating in negotiations to end war in Ukraine - Rutte
The North Atlantic Alliance is not involved in negotiations to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in an interview with NV, Censor.NET reports.
"... we as NATO are not involved in these negotiations. They are really led by the United States together with Ukraine and the Russians. I am glad that the US has moved this issue forward, and these talks are now underway," he said.
Rutte noted that the talks are moving slowly, not because of Ukraine but because of Russia, and "the ball is clearly in Russia's court now."
The Secretary General also emphasized that NATO, as a separate organization, has no "red lines" in the negotiations, as it is not a party to this process.
I think that NATO does not have its own red lines because we are not part of this process. But, of course, in general, we want Ukraine to be a proud sovereign state moving forward. This is what we all want. It has to be a just and lasting peace. Putin should never try to do this again," he added. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3545225
French and British Chiefs of Staff Burkhardt and Radakin meet with Zelenskyy, Umerov, and Syrskyi. PHOTOS
The Chief of Staff of the French Armed Forces, General Thierry Burkhardt, and his UK counterpart, Admiral Anthony Radakin, met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, in Kyiv.
According to Censor.NET, General Burkhardt reported this on social network X.
"Kyiv. Meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Defence Minister Rustem Umerov and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi, along with my colleague Admiral Anthony Radakin," the post reads.
According to Burkhardt, the purpose of the meetings is to:
maintaining strong support for the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which allows them to continue their fight;
defining a long-term strategy for the restoration and transformation of the army model, which is the main guarantee of the country's security;
discussing options for security guarantees developed by France and the UK as part of the international coalition to support Ukraine after the ceasefire.
"Together, we are committed to guaranteeing a sustainable and lasting peace in Ukraine - a prerequisite for the security of the European continent," the General added.
On 4 April, representatives of France, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine met in Kyiv to discuss the deployment of a military contingent. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that consultations would continue.
Peacekeeping forces in Ukraine
Earlier, it was reported that French President Emmanuel Macron would discuss with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk the deployment of peacekeeping forces in Ukraine if an agreement is reached to end the current phase of the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk denied that Polish troops would be sent to Ukraine after the ceasefire.
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, assessed the possibility of sending a European peacekeeping mission to Ukraine.
Italian Defence Minister Guido Crozetto expressed his readiness to support a peacekeeping mission to Ukraine if peace is achieved.
In turn, Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, called these discussions "premature".
Germany, together with its partners, will consider the possible deployment of peacekeepers in Ukraine as part of "security guarantees" only after the conditions for this are created, namely a ceasefire with Russia.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has stated that several countries are currently considering participation in a potential Western allied contingent in Ukraine. However, specific plans for the deployment of foreign troops are still under discussion. Source: https://censor.net/en/p3545216

No one saw this coming !
Russian armed forces launched a high-precision missile strike on a restaurant in Krivoy Rog, where a meeting of commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and foreign military experts was taking place. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the operation was carried out using a missile with a high-explosive charge. As a result of the attack, the enemy suffered significant losses: up to 85 personnel, including foreign officers, as well as up to 20 vehicles were destroyed. The strike was part of ongoing military operations aimed at weakening the command structures and logistics of the Ukrainian forces.
The Russian Defense Ministry clarifies that the purpose of the operation was to prevent the coordination of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' actions with the participation of Western instructors, who presumably provided support in planning operations and using the supplied weapons. The choice of the restaurant as a meeting place was probably due to an attempt to disguise the event as a civilian activity, but Russian intelligence revealed its true purpose.
Some sources claim that NATO members may have been among the casualties, raising questions about the extent of Western involvement in the conflict. Russia has repeatedly stated that it considers foreign military specialists legitimate targets, accusing them of directly participating in the fighting on Kyiv's side.

Ukraine reportedly hit Russia's only fibre-optic plant, possible impact on drone productionA Ukrainian attack is likely to have hit the only Russian plant producing fibre-optic cables. The governor of Russia's Mordovia region confirmed that Ukrainian drones hit a company, but would not go into further detail. According to Russian Telegram channel Baza, Optic Fibre Systems' fibre-optic plant was hit. The fibre-optic plant is crucial to Russia's war industry. According to estimates, the plant produces 25 per cent of all glass fibre in Russia, with the rest coming from China.
As both Ukraine and Russia increasingly have equipment to disrupt drones, both countries now make extensive use of wired drones. A kilometre-long fibre-optic cable is attached to such a drone, eliminating the need for a signal that can be disrupted. This makes control more reliable. The disadvantage of these drones is that their range is limited, and the cable can get entangled in trees and bushes, for instance. According to the governor, there were no deaths or injuries in the attack. It is unclear what the damage is to the factory. Saransk is more than 800 kilometres from the border with Ukraine.

Czech FM says ammunition initiative shifts Russia-Ukraine shell ratio from 10:1 to 2:1The Czech ammunition initiative has secured monthly deliveries to Ukraine until September, while Czech industry supplied 1.5 million rounds last year, including 500,000 large-calibre shells. On 3 April, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský announced in Brussels that the Czech initiative to provide ammunition to Ukraine ensures supply until September, Ukrinform reported. The Czech Republic has emerged as a key player in supporting Ukraine’s defense amid Russia’s war, spearheading initiatives to address critical shortages in ammunition and military supplies. Its innovative “Czech Initiative” focuses on procuring artillery shells from non-EU countries to meet Ukraine’s urgent battlefield needs, with commitments for 1.5 million rounds in 2024 alone.“The key point is that we’ve secured funding, so this initiative now has enough resources to send ammunition to Ukraine on a monthly basis until September,” Lipavský stated, also expressing gratitude to countries such as Canada, Norway, and Denmark. He highlighted that this initiative has reduced the effectiveness of Russian artillery by 500 percent. Due to the ammunition acquired through the initiative, the ratio has shifted from 1:10 in favour of Russia to 1:2.
Lipavský emphasized that the Czech initiative does not conflict with the European Commission’s plan to supply two million rounds of ammunition to Ukraine. He also reported that Czech industry sent 1.5 million rounds of ammunition to Ukraine last year, with half a million being large-calibre. Previously, Ukraine’s Minister for Strategic Industries, Herman Smetanin, said Ukraine started producing small arms ammunition under a Czech licence. https://euromaidanpress.com/2025/04/03/czech-fm-says-ammunition-initiative-shifts-russia-ukraine-shell-ratio-from-101-to-21/

Zelenskyy is disappointed with US Embassy’s response to attack on Kryvyi Rih: Such strong country, and they are afraid to say word "Russian" when talking about missile
The Russian attack on Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region, killed 9 Ukrainian children.
This was announced on the telegram channel of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Censor.NET reports.
"Three-year-old Tymofii, unfortunately, died in hospital today. Seven-year-old Radislav. Arina, who is also 7 years old. Nine-year-old Herman. Fifteen-year-old Danylo. Fifteen-year-old Nikita. Fifteen-year-old Alina. Konstantin, who is 16 years old forever. Nikita is 17 years old. These are the children who were killed by a Russian ballistic missile strike on Kryvyi Rih. It was only a few minutes after the launch from the Taganrog area in enemy territory. Unfortunately, 9 adults were also killed," Zelenskyy said.
According to him, the missile hit right on the street - there were ordinary houses, a playground, shops, and a restaurant around. Another 62 people were injured in the strike, including 12 children.
"There are very seriously wounded, they are now in hospitals. Doctors are doing everything possible to save their lives.
In addition to this ballistics, the Russians used attack drones against Kryvyi Rih yesterday, right during the rescue operation, during this time of grief for the people. As a result of the drone strike, 7 people were injured and one person was killed. There is simply no deeper cynicism, meanness and hatred of people than those that Russia is now embodying," the Head of State noted.
It is very important that this Russian strike on people, on the city and every such strike does not remain without a reaction from the world. He reminded that Kryvyi Rih and the whole of Ukraine have already been supported by many people yesterday and today.
"I am grateful to the foreign ministers of the Czech Republic, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Austria for their principled position. I am grateful for the position and support of the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. We appreciate that the embassies of Japan, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Germany have spoken out in principle. Unfortunately, the reaction of the American Embassy is unpleasantly surprising: such a strong country, such a strong people, and such a weak reaction. They are even afraid to say the word "Russian" when talking about the missile that killed the children.
Yes, the war must end. But to end it, we must not be afraid to call a spade a spade. We must not be afraid to put pressure on the only one who continues this war and ignores all the world's proposals to end it. We must put pressure on Russia, which chooses to kill children instead of a ceasefire. We need to impose additional sanctions against those who cannot exist without ballistic missile attacks on the neighboring people. We need to do everything possible to save lives," Zelenskyy adds.
"And we talked, in particular, with the American side about additional air defense systems to protect against such missile strikes. We are counting on our agreements with the President of the United States, who promised to help with the search for additional "petriots". And we hope that the power of peace will overcome this evil - this war, this Russian aggression.
It is only through the strength and coordinated work of our partners that we can stop the killing of people, save the lives of children and establish a lasting peace. I thank all those who have been with Ukraine since the beginning of this war and especially in these tragic days. Eternal memory to all our people whose lives were taken by Russian strikes!" the president summarizes.
As reported, US Ambassador Brink commented on the strike on Kryvyi Rih, but did not mention Russia.

US may make "historic mistake" in negotiations with Russia - Polish Prime Minister’s advisor Kowal
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk's adviser on Ukraine, Pawel Kowal, said that the United States could make a "historic mistake" if it recognizes Russian control over the occupied territories of Ukraine during negotiations with Russia.
This is reported by Censor.NET with reference to RBC-Ukraine.
Thus, it is noted that Donald Trump may make a "historical mistake" if, during potential negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine, he agrees to recognize Russian control over Crimea, Donbas or other occupied territories.
According to Kowal, any recognition of Russia's expanded borders would be a "red line" for Poland and for the entire Central Europe.
He emphasized that Russia officially recognized Ukraine's borders after the collapse of the USSR, including Crimea and Donbas, and that this is what the legal security system in Europe is based on.
The advisor also reminded that Poland has its own historical experience - the division of the country in 1939 between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, as well as the Yalta Agreement of 1945, which defined a new architecture of the continent after World War II.
In addition, it is noted that Warsaw is increasingly closely monitoring Trump's political stance against the backdrop of his recent praise of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, criticism of NATO, and demonstrative exclusion of European allies from negotiations.
At the same time, Koval expressed confidence that the US president would not go for full legal recognition of Russia's territorial claims, as this would contradict US economic interests in Ukraine's post-war recovery.
He is convinced that the West should focus not only on discussions of post-conflict guarantees, but above all on immediately strengthening support for Ukraine, as Putin is using the pause in diplomacy to escalate his offensive.
The adviser also commented on the position of the Polish government: "Warsaw will continue to be one of the main providers of assistance to Ukraine, but the participation of the Polish military in a peacekeeping mission is excluded. The main reason is the need to maintain a combat-ready army on its own borders in case of threats from Russia and Belarus. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3545337
During war, it is unnecessary to know whole truth, otherwise people will have opinions - Budanov
The head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, said that society should learn the whole truth about the war later, but not during active hostilities.
He said this in an interview with military servicewoman and TV presenter Anna Maksymchuk, answering the question of whether society needs to know the truth about what is happening at the front, Censor.NET reports.
"Society should be ready to learn the truth over time. During the war, it is unnecessary to know the whole truth. Otherwise, people may have different opinions," Budanov said.
At the same time, he stressed that this is not a distorted reality or anything like that.
"I'm not talking about distorted reality or anything like that. No. It's just that not all people's consciousness is adapted to perceive the hard truth. You don't need to test people with this, as they say. Everything should be dosed," the DIU chief said. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3545292

Russian spy sensors found tracking Britain’s nuclear submarines in UK waters: report!
A new report revealed Russian spy sensors are tracking the United Kingdom’s nuclear submarines – with the alarming discovery kept hidden from the public despite British military officials deeming it a national security threat.
Now military operatives are in fear that the devices, some of which were found lurking in surrounding waterways by the Royal Navy, were planted by the Kremlin to monitor and potentially sabotage critical British infrastructure, including four Vanguard subs carrying nuclear missiles, The Sunday Times reported.
“There should be no doubt, there is a war raging in the Atlantic,” one senior military source told the outlet.

Putin supports ceasefire in Ukraine, but number of issues still need to be resolved - Peskov
The spokesman for the Russian dictator Dmitry Peskov said that Putin allegedly supports the ceasefire.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Russian media.
"Putin supports the idea of a ceasefire in Ukraine, but a number of issues need to be resolved, and for now they are ‘hanging in the air,’" he said.
Peskov also said that Russian troops are allegedly hitting "exclusively military targets, no strikes are being carried out on social facilities."
As a reminder, the day before, Russia struck Kryvyi Rih. The attack killed 20 people, including 9 children.
33 people remain in hospitals, including 4 children. Another 20 people, 2 of them in serious condition, are in hospitals after previous enemy attacks on the city. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3545463
Millions of Ukrainians in EU may lose protection after war - Euractiv
The legal status of millions of Ukrainian refugees in the EU may be at risk due to the lack of a unified strategy after the potential end of the war with Russia.
This is reported by Euractiv, Censor.NET informs.
After Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, EU countries activated the Temporary Protection Directive (TPD), which allowed millions of Ukrainians to stay legally in the European Union. However, the EU currently lacks a clear plan of action for the end of hostilities, creating uncertainty for an estimated 4.3 million Ukrainians.
Polls show that an increasing number of refugees do not plan to return to Ukraine, with the share of those willing to return dropping from 77% in 2023 to 65% in 2024.
Despite the fact that temporary protection has been extended until March 2026, member states have different interpretations of this directive, which creates unequal living conditions for Ukrainians.
The European Commission is already exploring options, including:
extension of the TPD,
transition to national statuses,
support for those wishing to return to Ukraine.
As noted, a number of countries are already introducing national solutions. Poland offers a three-year temporary resident status, while the Czech Republic offers a five-year residence permit for working Ukrainians. Other countries, such as Austria, Italy, Estonia, and Latvia, are also working on their own long-term protection mechanisms.
In June, the EU Home Affairs Council plans to consider the future of temporary protection. However, any decision will require the unanimous consent of member states.
According to the UN, as of December 2024, 6.8 million of Ukraine's citizens were outside the country. Some of them are in Russia and Belarus. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3545445

Norway allocates another 415 million euros for the purchase of artillery ammunition for Ukraine
Norway is allocating NOK 4 billion for the Czech initiative to buy artillery ammunition for Ukraine, and another billion for the same needs through the mechanisms of the European Peace Fund: the total amount is more than EUR 400 million.
According to Censor.NET , citing Yevropeiska Pravda, this was reported by the NRK edition.
It is noted that Norway provides 4 billion kroner - approximately 332 million euros - for the Czech initiative to purchase artillery shells for Ukraine around the world. Norway also allocated funds for the Czech initiative in 2024.
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre emphasized that this is one of the key needs for the Ukrainian army, so Norway is making its contribution.
Another 1 billion kroner is being provided for the European Peace Fund, through which the EU also finances military aid for Ukraine - the contribution will also be used for artillery ammunition.
Europe must take more responsibility for supporting Ukraine in its fight for freedom. Our contributions to the European Peace Fund and our joint support for the Czech initiative emphasize that Europe stands by Ukraine," said Støre.
As a reminder, the Norwegian government has agreed to increase its support for Ukraine by another 50 billion kroner (approximately $4.6 billion) in 2025. This will bring the total amount of aid to 85 billion kroner ($7.8 billion).
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala also said that under the Czech initiative, Ukraine could receive an amount of ammunition in 2025 that would be equal to the amount supplied in 2024. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3545551

Russia is ready for "serious dialogue" on Ukraine, but we will not be fooled - Nebenzya
Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasiliy Nebenzya said that Ukraine allegedly demonstrates "complete non-negotiability" by continuing to attack Russia's energy infrastructure.
According to Censor.NET, his statement at a meeting of the UN Security Council was quoted by Russian media.
According to him, Moscow will not allow the negotiation process to be used to strengthen Ukraine's position.
"We are ready for a serious and practical dialogue, but we will not allow anyone to deceive us and directly or indirectly use this negotiation process in the interests of strengthening the military potential of the Kyiv regime... This once again indicates the incapacity of the current Ukrainian leadership, which lost its legitimacy almost a year ago, and further convinces us that no agreements with the gang that usurped power in Kyiv are possible," he said.
In addition, Nebenzya called Ukrainian troops and instructors from Western countries "legitimate targets" for the Russian Armed Forces.
He also cynically stated that the cause of the civilian deaths in Kryvyi Rih was allegedly "unprofessional actions of the Ukrainian air defense system."
Earlier, Censor.NET reported that on April 4, the occupiers attacked Kryvyi Rih. So far, 18 people have been killed, including 9 children, and more than 60 injured. Zelenskyy: There are no serious grounds for lifting sanctions against Russia, but we should work on it
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy assured that there are no serious reasons to worry about the possible easing or lifting of sanctions imposed by the West on Russia.
The head of state said this on April 8 during a joint press conference with Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever in Kyiv, Censor.NET reports.
At the same time, the president emphasized that Ukraine is constantly working with international partners to ensure that these sanctions remain in force.
When asked about the risks associated with Russia's ability to access its frozen assets, Zelenskyy answered: "I think there is no need to be nervous yet. In addition to the Hungarian vote, we now see united efforts and an understanding that any sanctions, including frozen assets, will not be lifted against Russia. But we need to work on all this."
He also confirmed that the Ukrainian side has information about Moscow's attempts to find ways to unblock its assets, but the partner states continue to demonstrate unity in maintaining sanctions pressure.
In his turn, Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever emphasized: "There is a lot of support for these sanctions to remain... We will do everything possible to ensure that they do." Source: https://censor.net/en/n3545717
If France, Britain and Germany send troops to Ukraine, Belgium will join, - Prime Minister de Wever
Belgian Prime Minister Bart de Wever said that his country is ready to consider sending a military contingent to Ukraine as part of the "Coalition of the Willing" if key European players - France, the United Kingdom and Germany - join the initiative.
He said this during a joint press conference with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.
According to de Wever, the Coalition of the Willing is determined to support peace if a ceasefire is reached that meets Ukraine's interests. Preparations for a possible peacekeeping role are already being discussed between the governments of France, the United Kingdom and the Belgian Ministry of Defense, as well as the military command of the Belgian army.
"In my opinion, it would be very logical that if France, England and possibly Germany take the initiative and send people, we will join. We are a founding member of the EU and NATO. We have always been part of multilateral coalitions and peace initiatives. So our place will be next to them when the time comes," the head of the Belgian government emphasized.

How Europe hopes to turn Ukraine into a “steel porcupine”Investing in the country’s defence industry is the best way to keep it in the fight. A CEASEFIRE BETWEEN Russia and Ukraine remains a distant prospect, and Europe has made slow progress towards creating a “reassurance force” to help support one. American military aid is dwindling and will soon run out altogether unless renewed by Donald Trump, which looks unlikely. The best way to guarantee Ukraine’s security, its supporters say, is to ensure it is armed to the teeth, ceasefire or no. To that end, on March 19th the European Commission outlined a two-part “porcupine strategy” for Ukraine.
First, Europe would procure more munitions and weapons systems on Ukraine’s behalf, including crucial air-defence missiles. Second, it would boost Ukraine’s own defence industry, which it calls “the most effective and cost-efficient way to support Ukraine’s military efforts”. The plan is the brainchild of Kaja Kallas, a former Estonian prime minister who is now the European Union’s top diplomat. She wants to double military aid to Ukraine this year, to €40bn ($44bn).
he case for investing in Ukraine’s indigenous arms industry is compelling. Ukraine was a big weapons-manufacturer during the Soviet era, but the industry largely vanished after independence in 1991. Nonetheless, there was an engineering base and a thriving new tech sector to draw on when Russia launched its full-scale invasion three years ago. The country had the foundations: a solid manufacturing sector and loads of engineering schools and universities from which people with highly specialised knowledge transitioned to defence, says Andriy Zagorodnyuk, a former defence minister who chairs the Centre for Defence Strategies, a think-tank in Kyiv. “Since 2022 the development has been extremely active. There is a constant innovation process,” he adds. Whereas arms procurement in the West typically takes years, in Ukraine an idea can be translated into a weapon in a soldier’s hand within months...

Captured Chinese nationals: Beijing urged Zelenskyy to "refrain from irresponsible remarks"
China commented on the statement of Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who said that Kyiv has personal data of at least 155 Chinese fighting on the side of Russia.
This was stated by Chinese Foreign Minister Lin Jian during a briefing, Censor.NET reports.
He noted that China is neither the creator nor a party to the "Ukrainian crisis".
"The Chinese government has always required its citizens to stay away from armed conflict zones, avoid participating in armed conflicts in any form, and especially avoid participating in military operations by any party. We advise the parties concerned to understand China's role correctly and clearly and refrain from making irresponsible remarks," the spokesperson said.
As a reminder, on 9 April, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said at a meeting with journalists that Ukrainian special services had information about 155 Chinese citizens fighting on the side of the Russian Federation.
Chinese nationals captured by the Ukrainian Armed Forces
Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian defenders captured two Chinese nationals in the Donetsk region. They fought as part of the Russian army.
According to the president, the Ukrainian Armed Forces engaged in a battle with six Chinese in the Donetsk region near the settlements of Tarasivka and Bilohorivka, after which two were taken prisoner.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine summoned the Charge d'Affaires of China because of the participation of Chinese citizens in Russia's war against Ukraine on the side of Russia.

Times reported that one of Chinese fighting for Russia voluntarily surrendered to Ukrainian forces
A Chinese soldier who signed a contract with the Russian army came to the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donetsk region at night and surrendered himself.
This was reported by The Times with reference to a military source, Censor.NET reports.
According to the military source, at least one of the Chinese prisoners complained that the Russian military mistreated him in his trench.
"He came to our positions at night and surrendered. The Russians beat him and didn't even let him eat," the source said.
After he was fed, the Chinese prisoner began discussing political topics, the source added.
The Times journalists reviewed the documents found on the Chinese citizens during the search and said that the 33-year-old resident of Henan Province had signed a one-year contract with the Russian army.
He arrived at the Russian Sheremetyevo airport on February 8. A few days later, on February 17, he registered for military service to obtain a tax code and social security number.
It is not known when he signed the contract with the Russian army, but his visa was issued for 16 days.
Many Chinese soldiers recruited by Russia for the war against Ukraine record their travels on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok.
"The Russians do not perceive us as people. We fight like a suicide squad, and they don't care if we die or get hurt," said one of the mercenaries, named Zhou Ziqiang, adding that they are paid about $2,500 a month.

[FOCUS] Germany wants to supply more than 1100 radar systems for ground surveillance and additional IRIS-T air defense missile systems to Ukraine, which is under attack from Russia. This is part of medium and long-term plans, explained the acting Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) at a meeting to coordinate further military aid for Ukraine in Brussels.
According to Pistorius, four more Iris-T systems plus 300 guided missiles and 100 ground surveillance radars will be delivered this year in the short term. A further 100,000 rounds of artillery ammunition, 300 reconnaissance drones, 25 Marder infantry fighting vehicles, 15 Leopard 1A5 main battle tanks, 120 Manpads ground-based air defense systems and 14 artillery systems will also be delivered. Over the past few days, 30 additional Patriot guided missiles have also been delivered to Ukraine from its own stocks.
----------------
German television reported yesterday that the German military attaché for the Ukraine reported problems with German heavy weapons in the Ukraine, based on feedback he received from his Ukrainian contacts. The 2000 self-propelled howitzer in particular can only be described as having limited war capability, as it is simply technologically too susceptible to malfunctions because it is not robust enough and too prone to failure. The problem with armored combat vehicles is that the maintenance possibilities within the Ukriane are very limited, and these vehicles have to be taken out of the country in a very time-consuming manner in order to repair and maintain them.
This report contrasts with the testimonies of Ukrainian troops in position who handled the Leopard 1 and 2 tanks and the Marders and were extremely complimentary about the safety standards, responsiveness, mobility and maneuverability of these vehicles. None of these soldiers would ever want to fight on a Russian vehicle again.
The Abrams have proven to be too maintenance-intensive under Ukrainian combat conditions, it is said time and again, while the Bradleys have taught the Russians a lesson. In general, the western infantry fighting vehicles are clearly much more decisive for the Ukrainians than the heavy battle tanks, and among the latter it is the “outdated” Leopard 1 that wins the race, it is lighter, and is less often stopped by weight restrictions, e.g. on bridges, and deep mud is also less of a problem, as the other modern MBTs have a greater risk of sinking too deep and getting stuck.
Hehehe, I once said at the beginning that I wouldn't be surprised if the Leo 1 proved to be more valuable than the more modern MBTs. Feedback over the last 1.5 years has confirmed that so far. But the Marder, Bradleys and CV-90s are the most decisive. They appartently are also fine beasts. The safety level of the Marder can apparently still keep up with its modern counterparts, and the presumably too small-caliber machine gun has no trouble having fun with the Russian vehicles thanks to its enormous precision and rapid-fire capability. In contacts with MBTs, the Bradleys naturally have an advantage with their TOWs, but they also offer a much higher target, which is why many observers say it appears that the Ukrainians have lost more Bradleys than Marders. This is difficult to verify.

At least several hundred Chinese nationals are fighting against Ukraine on side of Russia - Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that at least several hundred Chinese nationals are fighting against Ukraine as part of the Russian occupation forces. Dictator Vladimir Putin apparently finds North Korean soldiers insufficient.
The head of state said this during a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defence (in the Ramstein format), Censor.NET reports.
He noted that the involvement of the Chinese military shows that Russia is trying to drag out the war.
"Last week, our soldiers captured Chinese nationals for the first time — they had been fighting on the front line for Russia. As of now, we have information that at least several hundred Chinese nationals are fighting as part of Russia’s occupation forces. This clearly shows that Russia is trying to prolong the war, even at the cost of Chinese lives. North Korean soldiers were not enough for Putin. Now he is trying to make up for his losses by involving yet another nation — the Chinese. How long will he be able to keep doing this?" the President noted.
Zelenskyy called on the defence ministers and chiefs of staff who participated in the Ramstein meeting to work together so that Russia could no longer choose whether to continue the war.
"We have to work together to make sure that such issues no longer depend on Moscow's choices, but on our joint pressure on Moscow, because that is the only way this can work. And along with supporting our forces and maintaining sanctions against Russia now, we must also think about the future - what will make Russia choose diplomacy and peace tomorrow. This is our common destiny - Europe, the United States, NATO," he added. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3546349

Russia can have so many artillery shells they want, but the barrels (Usually, barrels wear out after 2,000 to 6,000 shots.) are harder to produce for both of them they rely for 70% on North Korea.
Russia has a 10 to 1 artillery advantage in January 2025 that’s not true. Many comparisons are made by counting shells and shell production, but these are based on suppositions 70 years out of date. Something like this might have mattered on the Western Front of World War II, given that German and allied artillery crews had similar levels of technology and training, with roughly equivalent calibre and quality of guns. Comparing apples to apples, as they say. It is closer to 1.5 to 1 and do not forget drones toke over the role of artillery also a Russian D-30 is not an equivalent to a HIMARS or other western artillery.
Putin demands Ukraine disarms before peace talks? Here's the reason why. General Drapatyi, the new commander of Ukraine's eastern front, just turned Ukraine's frontline into a Russian artillery graveyard. The shocking numbers: 1,644 Russian artillery pieces destroyed in March alone. With Russia's factories limping along at 150 pieces monthly, Ukraine just wiped out an entire year of production in 30 days. The secret? Ukrainian drone hunters tracking Russian guns 15km behind frontlines, exploiting Moscow's outdated "relocate after firing" doctrine. By the time Russian crews realize they're targeted, their multi-million dollar systems are already smoking wreckage. This isn't just winning battles, it's breaking the entire Russian war machine. Now, Putin's forces need 36 separate assaults for each kilometre gained, a mathematical impossibility that's bleeding Russia dry. https://euromaidanpress.com/2025/04/09/frontline-report-ukraines-new-commander-appointment-transforms-eastern-battlefield/

Allies pledge €21 billion in defence aid to Ukraine at RamsteinAllied countries have agreed to provide Ukraine with more than €21 billion (about $22.6 billion) in new military assistance following talks held in the Ramstein format, British Defense Secretary John Healey said on April 11, according to The Guardian. Healey called the pledge a “record increase in military funding for Ukraine.” The UK will continue to support Ukraine, he added, and plans to allocate £4.5 billion (around $5.6 billion) in military aid in 2025 alone.
Healey also joined his German counterpart, Boris Pistorius, in condemning Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine. “Today marks one month since Russia rejected President Trump’s peace deal,” Healey said. “Putin says he wants peace, but he refused a full ceasefire. Putin says he wants peace, but he keeps stalling talks. Putin says he wants peace, but his forces keep bombing Ukraine — targeting both military and civilian sites.”.. https://english.nv.ua/nation/uk-says-ukraine-to-receive-over-21-billion-in-military-aid-after-ramstein-talks-50505640.html

Norway to allocate €830 million for training of Ukrainian Defense Forces brigade
Norway will provide 10 billion kroner (830 million euros) to train and equip a brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which will be formed from existing smaller units. The project is being implemented jointly with the Nordic and Baltic countries.
This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Norwegian Ministry of Defense.
As noted by the Minister of Defense Tore Onshuus Sandvik during a meeting of the Coordination Group for the Defense of Ukraine in Brussels, the brigade is being formed in cooperation with the Nordic and Baltic countries. It is not about creating an entirely new unit, but about strengthening existing Ukrainian brigades with smaller units that can quickly integrate.
According to Sandvik, Norway is playing a prominent role in this initiative, as it is involved in supplying equipment, ammunition and training.
The goal is to create a full-fledged combat unit of the ground forces that can act independently. The number of personnel in a brigade usually ranges from 3 to 5 thousand. The project is flexible and scalable.
Separately, the Norwegian Minister of Defense met with his Ukrainian counterpart, Rustem Umierov, to discuss support for Ukraine in other international initiatives. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3546453
Russia may use nuclear weapons against satellites in space - Rutte
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that the Russian Federation could use nuclear weapons against space satellites. He called on NATO allies to prepare for new challenges in outer space.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by Welt am Sonntag.
"We are aware of reports that Russia is considering the possibility of deploying nuclear weapons in space," Rutte said.
He noted that this development is "disturbing." Rutte noted that Moscow's capabilities in space are currently outdated and do not match the level of the West.
"That is why the development of nuclear weapons in space is a way for Russia to strengthen its capabilities. This is a matter of serious concern and would mean a violation of the Outer Space Treaty of 1967," the NATO Secretary General said. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3546433
TOTAL DISASTER: Russian River Crossing GOES TERRIBLY WRONG!Today, there are a lot of important updates from the Borova direction. Here, the Russians launched a hurried counterattack to try and halt the Third Assault BrigadeÂ’s advance. However, the attack failed disastrously, as the elite Ukrainian unit turned the Russian assault into a massacre, shredding nearly half a Russian battalion in one day alone. The Ukrainian goal is to undermine the upcoming Russian spring offensive towards Borova and Lyman by launching a crushing counterattack to eliminate the Russian bridgehead over the Zherebets river, which the Russians planned to use to launch their offensive. The Russians understood the critical nature of the situation, so they launched a hurried response across the frontline to stop the Ukrainian advance.
Due to the shortage of armoured vehicles, Russian forces were forced to rely solely on infantry, saving their limited armoured reserve for the final offensive itself. Additionally, the marshy riverbanks and lack of viable crossing points forced the Russians to deploy makeshift pontoon bridges, meant to allow large groups of infantry to make it across and overwhelm the Ukrainian defences. However, due to the makeshift bridgesÂ’ proximity to Ukrainian lines, Ukrainians were able to detect, target, and destroy them almost immediately. This prevented the Russians from moving large numbers of soldiers across the river, leading to a lack of sufficient forces for an overwhelming series of assaults. However, most importantly, due to the sudden appearance of several makeshift infantry pontoon bridges, Ukrainians immediately understood that the Russians were planning a large pure-infantry response, allowing the third assault brigade to get the appropriate defences ready for battle.
Looking at the battlefield, we can see there are only a few interconnected tree lines connecting Russian lines to the Ukrainian positions. However, the Third Assault Brigade had established strong defences here, locking down and preventing any Russian infiltration attempt through them, as these defences proved insurmountable in the previous months of Russian attempts to do so. For this reason, Russian commanders decided to launch their attacks across open fields instead, assuming that the losses, while high, would still be lower than if they tried to take on Ukrainian defences head-on.
To avoid immediate and complete destruction, Russian soldiers used tactics specifically meant to reduce casualties to drone strikes, by keeping a large distance between them and only moving in pairs of two soldiers at a time. This was done to minimize the risk of mass-casualties to a single strike, forcing Ukrainians to use many more drones to eliminate single targets, increasing the chance of Russian soldiers making it across the fields alive. Unfortunately for Russians, Ukrainians had enough drones in reserve, as they released a 2-and-a-half minute compilation of close to 100 individual FPV drone strikes.
However, as the assault force consisted entirely of infantry, Ukrainians deployed specific 5 to 7-inch large kamikaze drones, which are very fast and agile due to their small size. While their agility was high enough to allow Ukrainians to hit the smaller targets individual Russian soldiers presented, they still carried enough explosive payload to achieve the desired effect. Ukrainians also deployed reconnaissance drones to observe the effectiveness of the kamikaze strikes, armed with drone-dropped grenades to finish off any misses. These drones were also able to point out targets for the FPV drone operators, allowing for maximum efficiency during the defence.
During the Russian assault, Russians lost over 229 soldiers, nearly half a Russian battalion in one day. During the whole week of Third Assault Brigade operations, they managed to eliminate a total of 446 Russian soldiers, 16 artillery pieces, dozens of armoured vehicles and trucks in the rear, and 10 makeshift bridges Russians deployed to facilitate the crossing. Overall, the Third Assault Brigade has successfully thwarted the Russian attempt to salvage their bridgehead across the Zherebets river, allowing for a continued push to fully eliminate and clear the remaining Russians from the area. As the destroyed crossing points likely forced Russians to commit soldiers already present in the bridgehead to the suicidal assaults, Russian defences will be weakened, and Ukrainians might be able to exploit Russian weaknesses to finish their operation before Russians can re-man their positions.

He came, he bowed, he may have begged for an autograph. After yesterday, a new term is catching on, “Witkoff.” It describes a rare species of envoy: one who flies overseas, stares down a genocidal regime… and then gives it everything it wants. The Witkoff does not negotiate. He apologizes. He does not challenge. Furthermore, he congratulates. He returns home flush with selfies, propaganda quotes, and, presumably, a souvenir matryoshka doll tucked under one arm. Historians will remember Benedict Arnold for betrayal, Quisling for collaboration, and now—Witkoff —for servile adoration of tyrants in real time, under the bright lights of global scrutiny. To put it in the context of the next edition of the Oxford English Dictionary:
Witkoff (noun)
/ˈwɪt-kɒf/
Definition:
A government representative who abandons national interest to serve as a self-congratulating, fawning, and sycophantic mouthpiece for a hostile foreign regime—especially one engaged in war crimes.
Example usage:
“The ambassador’s groveling before the dictator was so humiliating, the press began referring to him as a total Witcoff.”
Origin:
Coined in 2025 following the conduct of a U.S. envoy who publicly praised and defended an adversarial power while ignoring its atrocities and undermining his own nationÂ’s policy.

Ukraine increases cruise missile production eightfold in 2024The Ministry of Strategic Industries has reported an eightfold increase in the production of cruise missiles in Ukraine in 2024 compared to 2023. The production of long-range drones and the overall volume of domestically manufactured weaponry have also significantly increased. Whereas a few years ago the country was producing only Neptune cruise missiles, Ukraine now has “many new products, which have ensured an eightfold increase in production volumes compared to 2023”.
He also highlighted the increase in the production of long-range drones: their output has more than doubled compared to 2023 and increased 22 times compared to 2022. A total of 324 new types of weapons were developed in Ukraine in 2024. According to the ministry, Ukraine produced weapons worth a total of US$9 billion. “This year, we already see growth. We will have the capacity to produce military equipment worth US$35 billion within Ukraine by the end of the year,” Smetanin added.
Oleksandr Kamyshin, a strategic issues advisor to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stated that the domestic defence industry is currently capable of supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine with almost the entire range of necessary military goods.Today, according to various estimates, 30% to 40% of what our soldiers are fighting with is produced in Ukraine. This is also our economy. As of last year, a significant share of GDP was already accounted for by our defence sector. I am confident that we will be able to and will export our weapons after the war ends with our victory. https://ukrainetoday.org/ukraine-increases-cruise-missile-production-eightfold-in-2024/
Saturday's loss is only the second confirmed F-16 loss that Ukraine has faced, delivering a symbolic blow to Kyiv's forces. The F-16 aircraft are more advanced than the Soviet-era aircraft Ukraine's forces had been using for much of the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war that began in February 2022. The aircrafts delivery from European allies was also hoped to change the battlefield calculus.

Seems the US' Witkoff has made a great deal in Russia. For Putin.
"Steve Witkoff made headlines today after a warm, three-hour meeting at the Kremlin with Vladimir Putin, during which he reportedly recommended that “the United States take a more understanding posture toward Russia’s legitimate concerns.” Specifically, that handing over stolen land to Russia was the only path to peace.
One thing is clear: President Trump’s special envoy to Russia is earning his place in history as the most infamous sycophant of 2025."

More than 100 civilians were injured. Two children were among the dead, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Telegram.
This is another serious blow in the war in Ukraine, which has now lasted more than three years. What will happen next in this deadlocked conflict? The "Neue Züricher Zeitung" (NZZ) recently spoke about this with Markus Reisner, a well-known Austrian historian and officer in the Austrian Armed Forces.
"There are several areas along the front that are favorable for Russian operations, from the Sumy region in the north through the Donbass to the southern province of Zaporizhia," said the military expert. According to him, the Russians could, for example, try "to carve out a large piece of Ukraine in the northeast of Kharkiv province."
Reisner also pointed out a common misconception. "The big mistake is measuring military success by territorial gains. Because this is a war of attrition. That means success is not defined by territorial gains, but by resource consumption." If one side runs out of resources, things can happen very quickly, according to the historian.
Time plays into the Russians' hands in this interpretation. "The crucial question is not how long the Russians can hold out, but how long Ukraine can hold out," Reisner told the "NZZ" newspaper.
The interview also touched on the talks between Russia and Ukraine, which US President Donald Trump initiated. He actually wanted to end the war in a flash, but that demonstrably hasn't happened. Nevertheless, a ceasefire is being negotiated.
"The decisive factor is who moves first – who has to admit that they may no longer be able to continue the war. The US, Ukraine's most important ally, has now dared to take this step," Reisner said.
In his eyes, Putin is in an "excellent position because he hasn't been the first to act, even though he himself may be on the brink of failure." The Austrian military expert also believes: "Compared to before, he seems much more confident." The Russian president recently issued a decree conscripting 160,000 men into military service.
Reisner sees this as a remarkable step. "To put it bluntly: The Russians feel like they did in April 1945 on the Seelow Heights, looking toward Berlin: They believe victory is within their grasp." The historian believes Russia can hold out for another two to three years, "even though its arsenals are emptying."
The reason: "Moscow isn't fighting this war alone. China is supplying important defense components, Iran is supplying drones, and North Korea is supplying millions of artillery shells. In addition, India is funneling money into Russia's pockets through raw material purchases. China, in particular, has no interest in pacification, because then Trump would, as he announced, turn more to East Asia."
Whether Ukraine's arms industry and population can hold out in the long run is questionable, according to the military expert. Russia is targeting its air strikes primarily at industry and infrastructure.
"The most important thing that needs to be delivered to Ukraine is medium- and long-range air defense systems," Reisner said. "Without the US and its supplies, there is a risk that Ukraine will be crushed. Its valiant defensive struggle on the front lines is not decisive if it fails to protect its own population and maintain a functioning arms production system."

Vance responds to Zelenskyy’s criticism of Russia’s justification: It is absurd to say that US is on side of Russians
US Vice President JD Vance said he did not support Russia, commenting on the words of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy about the alleged justification of Vladimir Putin's actions.
This was reported by Reuters, Censor.NET informs.
Vance stressed that he had condemned Russia's actions back in 2022, but was now trying to understand the strategic interests of both sides to find ways to resolve the conflict.
"That doesn't mean I morally support the Russian cause, or that I support the full-scale invasion," he stressed.
The US vice president also added that understanding the "red lines" of both sides was essential to finding peace, and called it absurd to claim that the US is allegedly on the side of Russia:
"I think it's sort of absurd for Zelenskiy to tell the [American] government, which is currently keeping his entire government and war effort together, that we are somehow on the side of the Russians," Vance said.
As a reminder, on 14 April, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with CBS that US Vice President JD Vance demonstrated a lack of understanding of the war in Ukraine and repeated the rhetoric previously voiced by Russian propaganda. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3546864
Witkoff calls talks with Putin "compelling" - Bloomberg
President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff called his talks with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin last week ‘’compelling,‘’ saying they were discussing steps that could end the war in Ukraine and possibly lead to business opportunities.
According to Censor.NET, Bloomberg reports this with reference to Witkoff's interview with Fox News.
Donald Trump's special envoy said that Putin had made his request to secure "a permanent peace," that accoding to Witkoff "took a while for us to get to."
The key to an overall agreement, Witkoff said, revolves around "five territories." He didn’t provide more details, but Russia insists that its seizure of parts of Ukraine since 2014, including Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk, must be recognized in any accord.
While Putin has previously demanded that Ukraine be barred from ever becoming a member of NATO, Witkoff said he also raised issues related to the bloc’s central tenet that an attack on one member constitutes an attack against all members.
"This peace deal is about these so-called five territories, but there’s so much more to it. I think we might be on the verge of something that would be very, very important for the world at large. I see a possibility to reshape the Russian-United States relationship through some very compelling commercial opportunities that I think give real stability to the region too," Witkoff said. Lavrov: EU will do everything to prevent change of "Nazi regime" in Ukraine
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov claims that Europe allegedly wants to find a "brand new semi-Führer" and preserve the "Nazi regime" in part of Ukraine.
His statement was quoted by Russian media, Censor.NET reports.
According to him, the peacekeeping plans promoted by European leaders are aimed at keeping Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in power.
The Russian minister is confident that Europe "will do everything to ensure that the regime does not change in essence".
"All these peacekeeping schemes drawn by the Macrons and the Starmers are based on the fact that it is necessary to preserve at least a piece of land on which the Nazi, openly Russophobic regime will remain, imprisoned for the next preparation of another war against Russia, as was done with the Minsk agreements," Lavrov said, adding that "no one is even talking about elections."
The Russian foreign minister claims that European leaders may be looking for "some new semi-Führer that will be less dependent on various substances".
Lavrov also said that during discussions with Western countries on any agreements related to the Russian-Ukrainian settlement, Moscow insists on "checking Ukraine's good faith".
To recap, the day before, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that US President Donald Trump "understands the Ukrainian conflict better" than any other Western leader. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3546821

As inhumane and immoral the Big Don's "policy" is, it is not without a - rotten - strategic calculation, most likely. By appeasing Russia and giving it card blanche in Ukraine to acchieve its war objectives freely, he hopes that Russia will sit still and stay idle when the US turns on China. Quid pro quo. Sacrificing Ukraine to Russia, he hopes to drive a wedge deeper between Russia and China.
He is victim of an old-era-thinking in which the world was divided only between the US and the USSR, and were China played no role and was non-existent on the world stage.
But China today is the world'S most important tech innovator, and that it has not yet attacked Taiwan and obviously thinks the US still has a few tricks on its sleeve that command caution (why else has it not already struck Taiwan?) , cannot deceive you over the fact that the US' lead in technology is being lost drop by drop, and that technological superiority can compensate numerical inferiorit only to a certain degree, and not further. Add to this that China can chose time and place of opening the war confrontation, and has the advanatge of the element of surprise, preparation, and operating under the umbrella of land-based air power and missile power. If the US does not make the first move and attacks first. which would be a bit much even for a Donald Trump, maybe.
But who knows. Old men have nothing to lose.

North Korean artillery now dominates Russia's ammunition supplyThe majority of artillery shells used by Russian forces in Ukraine in 2024 were manufactured in North Korea, according to a joint investigation by Reuters and the Open Source Center (OPS), published on April 15. North Korea has become a key military ally of Russia, supplying artillery shells, missiles, and reportedly even soldiers in exchange for oil products and advanced rocket technology.
Internal technical reports from Russia’s Defense Ministry, obtained by investigators, indicate that in some Russian military units, between 75% and 100% of artillery shells are North Korean-made. Overall, North Korea is providing roughly half of all artillery shells used by Russian troops, according to Ukraine’s military intelligence agency (HUR), as cited by Reuters. Arms shipments from North Korea to Russia began no later than September 2023, following a July visit to Pyongyang by then–Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, the investigation found. Between September 2023 and March 17, 2025, Russian cargo ships Angara, Maria, Maya-1, and Lady R transported military cargo 64 times from the North Korean port of Rajin to the Russian ports of Danube and Vostochny.
According to satellite images, the ships carried at least 15,809 containers in total. Cargoes from North Korea also traveled by the Friendship Bridge railroad across the Tumanna River in Primorye. Deliveries peaked in January 2024, with seven batches per month, and cargo ships are currently transporting about three batches of shells per month, according to the investigation. The containers could carry between four and six million artillery shells alone. The shells were transported by rail to warehouses near the Russian-Ukrainian border, mainly to Tikhoretsk in Russia's Krasnodar Krai. https://kyivindependent.com/north-korean-artillery-now-dominates-russias-ammunition-supply-in-war-against-ukraine-investigation-says/

^ True seems to be that Ukraine's most important weapons are drones, and that it had brought them to very innovative AI use, building at least sufficient numbers of them so that they can errect and maintain what one observer described as "flying walls of drones" against which the Russian ground forces on attack have no chance to break through. You cannot hide your preparations of an offensive anymore, you cannot readying and amassing ground forces for an offensive anymore, and you cannot conduct the offensive anymore. This will not change until the Russians found a way to jam the drones out of the sky. Which is difficult if they are controlled via fibre/wire... Local EMPs may be a way.
This way, Ukraine cannot win the war, but so can'T Russia, as long as Ukraine can maintain the production number of drones, which maybe makes drones more important than air defenses now.
On the other hand, Russia still can hold out with its current loss ratios for another 2-3 years, estimated Colonel Reisner just recently, because it needs not to fight and maintain its army all alone and all by itself. It gets troops, material, ammo, weapons from its befriended "allies".
I expect that Trump will try to stop the trade into Ukraine of materials and ressources it needs to keep its drones and weapon production running. For this he will try to press the EU, and others. For me it is clear that Trump wants Ukraine to be defeated and surrender unconditionally.

Peskov on Trump’s ceasefire statements this week: Difficult contacts are underway
The Russian dictator's spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on Trump's statements that he was expecting a response from Russia regarding the ceasefire in Ukraine this week.
He said this in a comment to Russian propagandists, Censor.NET reports.
"The contacts are quite difficult, because the topic is not easy, the topic of the Ukrainian settlement. Russia seeks to resolve this conflict, to secure its own interests and is open to dialogue. We are continuing this topic," Putin's spokesman said.
Earlier, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that if US efforts to stop the war in Ukraine failed within a few days, Trump would be told that negotiations were no longer a viable option.

Moratorium on attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has ended - Peskov
On April 18, Russian President's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the one-month moratorium on shelling of Ukraine's energy infrastructure had ended.
This was reported by the Russian media, Censor.NET informs.
"A month has indeed passed. So far, there have been no other instructions from the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Russian President Vladimir Putin," Peskov said.
To recap, on April 16, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi said that Russia had violated the energy truce more than 30 times during the energy ceasefire. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3547529
China sends military to Ukraine to gain combat experience - Hill
Chinese soldiers fighting on the side of Russia in Ukraine may use their experience in Ukraine to invade Taiwan.
According to Censor.NET, this is the opinion of The Hill columnist Gordon Chang.
"The Communist Party craves first-hand experience of the battlefield in Ukraine to inform its People’s Liberation Army for its future wars. For the PLA, the Ukraine battlefield offers the most livid and brutal evolution of the revolutionary and see-saw battle between unmanned weapons and electronic warfare defenses arrayed against them," Richard Fisher of the Washington, D.C. area-based International Assessment and Strategy Center said.
Fisher is convinced that "if the PLA can grasp and expand on the lessons of the Ukraine battlefield, it can vastly increase its chances of a rapid blitzkrieg victory in Taiwan."
"It is also likely that the Chinese officers are doing more than observing and reporting back to China. They may also be giving advice to their Russian counterparts. China, after all, has been backing Russia’s war effort from the beginning," Chang adds.
He also believes that China almost certainly greenlighted the invasion with its 5,300-word joint statement issued by Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin in Beijing on Feb. 4, 2022, just 20 days before the Russian attack. Putin might have invaded earlier, but he evidently acceded to Chinese wishes and waited until after the end of the Beijing Winter Olympics to hit the former Soviet republic.
"Given Beijing’s support to both Moscow and Pyongyang, it is unlikely that North Korea could have joined the war on Russia’s side without China’s approval. With regard to the mercenaries, Beijing probably both knew and approved of their participation in the war," Chang writes.
Charles Burton of the Sinopsis think tank and a former Canadian diplomat who worked in Beijing, believes that China's sending the first small group to join the Russians is in line with the Chinese communist strategy of first creating plausible deniability and then a veneer of legitimacy to gradually build up its troops on the front lines.
"This will almost certainly be accompanied by the gradual introduction of sophisticated Chinese offensive weaponry," he added.
Burton is also concerned that Russia, indebted to China because of the support in Ukraine, will not be able to say "no" when China demands that Moscow send forces to help it invade Taiwan or another neighbor.
"The Chinese and Russian militaries regularly hold joint drills in East Asia. Therefore, the Pentagon should assume that these two powers, along with North Korea, will fight together during the next war. So China probably sees great advantage in Chinese troops, even if just mercenaries, fighting in Ukraine," Chang concluded.
As a reminder, the Chinese government denies its involvement in the participation of Chinese citizens in Russia's war against Ukraine and states that after clarifying all the circumstances, it will assess the actions of its citizens captured in Donetsk region in accordance with national law. Ukraine bans China's firms for helping Russia make missiles
April 18 (Reuters) - Ukraine imposed sanctions on three Chinese companies on Friday claiming they were involved in production of advanced Iskander missiles, a day after President Volodymyr Zelenskiy alleged that China had been supplying weapons to Russia.
China's foreign ministry earlier on Friday dismissed Zelenskiy's accusation as groundless. While maintaining close economic ties with Russia during Moscow's three-year war in Ukraine, China has sought to project an image of neutrality and denies any involvement in the war.
Zelenskiy's administration on Friday published an updated list of sanctioned entities. The list, which also includes Russian companies, named Beijing Aviation And Aerospace Xianghui Technology Co. Ltd, Rui Jin Machinery Co. Ltd, and Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Xining Co. Ltd, all described as registered in China.
Zelenskiy said that the Chinese companies hit with sanctions were involved in the production of Russian Iskander missiles. Russia widely uses the nuclear-capable short-range ballistic missile system in the conflict.
On Friday, Ukraine said Iskander missiles had struck Kharkiv, a city in northern Ukraine, killing one and injuring more than 100 people.
"Today, we have expanded our Ukrainian sanctions against nearly a hundred more entities - natural and legal persons - most of whom are involved in the production of such missiles -Iskanders - like those that struck our Kharkiv," Zelenskiy said in a statement on X.
"Many of these entities are Russian, but unfortunately, some are also from China," he said.
Sanctions ban companies from doing business in Ukraine and freeze their assets there.
Ukraine exported $8 billion of goods to China in 2021, mostly raw materials and agricultural products, while it imported from China just under $11 billion, mainly in manufactured goods, according to the Ukrainian government.
On Thursday, Zelenskiy told reporters in Kyiv his government had evidence that Chinese firms were supplying what he described as artillery and gunpowder to Russia, and that Chinese entities are making some weapons on Russian soil.
He did not offer any evidence for the assertion.
A week earlier, Zelenskiy had said Chinese nationals were fighting on Russia's side in the war with Ukraine, including two who had been taken prisoner. A Chinese diplomat was summoned to the Ukrainian foreign ministry to provide an explanation.
Ukrainian and U.S. officials later said the men had signed up on their own initiative for money.

Well - sobering, to put it politely. With Europe having started to improve its production, Russian production numbers outclasses all Europe together.
If things go like this, Europe will NEVER be able to keep the Russian away. Never ever. No chance.

If strikes on Russian targets did not yield results, Moscow would not insist on moratorium, - former NATO Commander Clark
Ukrainian strikes deep into Russian territory are very sensitive for the Kremlin, which is why Moscow insists on a moratorium on such attacks.
According to Censor.NET, this was stated by the former commander of NATO's Allied Forces, Wesley Clark, in a commentary to Espresso.
"It is obvious that strikes on Russia's energy infrastructure are causing Russia significant damage. If this were not the case, Moscow would not have insisted on a moratorium on such attacks. These strikes limit Russia's ability to generate revenue and are therefore of strategic importance, even if their impact on the battlefield is not immediate. Ukrainian commanders need to take these factors into account and prioritize them appropriately. Obviously, strikes deep into Russia's territory have forced it to make a demand: "Don't strike our energy infrastructure," Clark explained.
The general noted that strikes deep into Russian territory create diplomatic pressure on the Kremlin and produce certain results. However, the main question is what exactly Russia is willing to do in exchange for such an agreement
"The question is what exactly Russia is willing to do in exchange for such an agreement. So far, none of these agreements have come into effect, as every time a commercial or diplomatic framework is discussed, Russia puts forward new demands, trying to get additional concessions. However, it seems that the long-range strikes are creating diplomatic pressure and are having some results," he added.
According to Clarke, the war of attrition is now underway. Therefore, it is likely that the Ukrainian command could consider strikes on operational targets located directly near the front line that affect the course of hostilities.
"The key question is the effective balance: wouldn't it be more appropriate to focus on operationally important targets? For example, strikes on ammunition depots demonstrate their effectiveness - they are achievable and produce a concrete result. However, everything about positional warfare essentially boils down to a struggle of attrition. In maneuver warfare, the goal is to concentrate attacks on specific areas, opening the way for mobile forces to achieve a decisive result through speed and flexibility. In the current situation, Ukraine is mainly engaged in positional defense. In such a situation, the main tasks on the battlefield are to prevent the concentration of enemy forces and disrupt attempts to change the nature of hostilities. This is achieved by undermining the enemy's ability to sustain the war - through attacks on fuel and ammunition stocks, troop concentrations and other critical logistics facilities," the general summarized. Orban’s government has written to Hungarians to vote against Ukraine’s EU membership, saying it would destroy their economy
The Hungarian government is sending out ballots for a national consultation among its citizens. They are going to be asked about their support for Ukraine's membership in the EU. However, official Budapest directly calls on its citizens to speak out against it.
According to Censor.NET, this is stated in a letter dated April 19 from the Hungarian government's information center, which is at the disposal of European Pravda.
As noted, the letter calls on the Hungarian government to vote against supporting Ukraine's accession to the EU, as, according to official Budapest, this "will cause Hungary enormous losses."
"It will cost every Hungarian family hundreds of thousands of forints a year, jeopardize pensions and support for farmers, and pose risks to security and the labor market," the letter says.
The government also argues that "accelerated accession to Ukraine in the current circumstances will destroy the Hungarian economy."
"We, the Hungarians, cannot accept the fact that such an important issue is being resolved before our eyes. In the coming weeks, the government will provide detailed information on issues related to Ukraine's accession," the letter reads. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3547688
Trump administration pressures Ukraine to end war without demanding anything from Russia - Axios
U.S. officials are pressuring Ukraine to call for a ceasefire, but are doing nothing to influence Russia's position.
According to Censor.NET, Axios reports this with reference to American and European officials.
According to the sources, Trump, who had previously promised to achieve peace in Ukraine within 24 hours of taking office, is disappointed with the delay in negotiations and is ready to abandon the US role in this matter. In particular, in a private conversation, the American leader said that he was disappointed with the ineffectiveness of these talks.
One U.S. official noted that Trump may focus on other areas of foreign policy if an agreement is not reached soon.
"We need to figure out... within a few days whether it's possible to do it in the short term," US Secretary of State Marco Rubio commented on ending the war in Ukraine.
However, one of the European diplomats added that Rubio did not specify what exactly such a step would look like, so he only said that the United States wants rapid progress.
In turn, two other European diplomats emphasized: "Rubio has made it clear that Trump is losing patience and may withdraw from the process if a deal is not reached soon."
Also, three European diplomats emphasized that Rubio's words were primarily aimed at Ukraine. In particular, a source close to the Ukrainian government also said that these statements were made to put pressure on Kyiv. In addition, the source expressed concern that the US president's withdrawal from the talks could suspend US military aid to Ukraine.
At the same time, European diplomats added that during the meetings in Paris, Rubio did not talk about increasing pressure on Russia.
"It seemed that Rubio and Vitkoff were under a lot of pressure from Trump and were trying to pass it on to other players," said one of the interlocutors.
"Ukraine was quick to agree to Trump's plans for a 30-day ceasefire, but Russia was slow to accept the proposal, arguing that it was winning on the battlefield and therefore had a number of conditions for any peace deal. As a result, it is unlikely that the Kremlin will be particularly concerned that Trump will abandon diplomacy," Axios summarized.
Earlier, the New York Post reported that a complete ceasefire in Ukraine could be agreed upon in London next week. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3547675

Russian President Vladimir Putin announces an "Easter truce'' in Ukraine, according to reports
Putin says there will be a temporary end to hostilities from 16:00 BST today until 22:00 BST tomorrow (00:00 Moscow time)
The Russian leader says he assumes Ukraine will follow the truce but Russian troops are ready to repel any possible violations
It's unclear whether Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accepted the terms of the truce
Only to blame Ukraine if orders do not reach everybody on the fronts, and they broke it already. At 17:15, Russian strike drones were detected in our skies. Ukrainian air defence and aviation have already begun working to protect us. Shaheds in our skies — that’s Putin’s real attitude toward Easter and human life.

Is it normal that during a cease fire, not all troops have yet received the official order?
I know we are 2025. They should have perfect communication with the chain of command. But if you see the current state on how they are fighting...
(WW1 trench like state) i doubt it.
Maybe some local commanders still didn't received the orders? or with a delay?
I think in every war we know, there were ALWAYS broken deals during the cease fire.
Because of miscommunication or they just don't care. Or both sides find any good reason to ignore the cease fire (the other side did something suspicious)
If there is an official surrender, or a official peace deal. Everybody needs to stop shooting and release the POW's, but during a cease fire.
Especially a temporary cease fire. Both parties will always do things in there advantage.
And what is seen as a cease fire? Does supplying ammunition and reinforcing defensive positions fall under ''cease fire''?
''oh look its a temporary cease fire, but they are getting new ammunition, and they are preparing themselves for a next assault. Should we do something?''
''No,we have orders, its a cease fire, we just watch and do noting''
or
'' Screw the cease fire, we have a reason to shoot at them''
I never take these temporary cease fires for real. There is still a war going on. So you can never guarantee the cease fire.
Both sides Ukrainian military and Russian military will disrespect the cease fire.
The only good thing about a temporary cease fire, is that both sides have the time and safety to take care of there wounded.
There is no question of Russia laying down its arms. Not because local officers have not received or understood the order, on the whole front Russia is firing with all types of weapons on Ukrainian fronts and civilians. Russian attacks on various places on the frontline continue, and Russian artillery fire has not stopped yet either. There is no Russian ceasefire!
But if Russia is actually willing to abide by the proposed unilateral truce, so is Ukraine, Zelenskyy argues. ‘If there really is a complete ceasefire, Ukraine proposes to extend it until after Easter,’ Zelenskyy said. According to Zelenskyy, Russia's failure for the time being to accept a proposal for a longer ceasefire shows ‘Putin's true intentions’. ‘Thirty hours is enough to make headlines, but not for really confidence-building measures. In thirty days, peace could have a chance.’

We are ready for 30 days of complete silence if Russia is mutually ready for it, but there is no response from Moscow, - Sybiha
Ukraine is ready to extend the "Easter truce" for up to 30 days, but the Russians are not responding to this proposal.
This was stated by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Censor.NET reports.
"Regarding the so-called "Easter ceasefire," we have not yet heard Moscow's response to our proposal to extend the truce for up to 30 days. Despite a slight decrease in combat activity yesterday and today, Russian troops continue to attack Ukrainian positions. Ukraine is responding appropriately and responsibly, and we are reciprocating both the fire where it occurs and the silence where it remains," Sybiha said.
The minister emphasized that the main issue is that yesterday Ukraine offered to extend the ceasefire after midnight if Russia reciprocated. However, no response has been heard from Moscow.
"Russia's actions after midnight, tomorrow and throughout the week will show Russia's true attitude to the US peace efforts and the proposal for a full 30-day ceasefire. They will show whether Russia is serious about peace or whether Putin's statements yesterday were just manipulations," the Foreign Minister summarized.
Putin's announcement of an "Easter truce"
As a reminder, on April 19, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin allegedly announced an Easter truce that would be in effect from 6 p.m. Moscow time on April 19 until zero o'clock on April 21.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's announcement of the so-called Easter truce by saying that it was another of Putin's attempts to play with people's lives.
Later, President Zelenskyy said that if Russia is now ready to really join the format of complete and unconditional silence, Ukraine will act in a mirror image - silence in response to silence, strikes in defense of strikes.
On April 20, Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin dictator had not ordered the truce to be extended. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3547819
Lipavsky on Putin’s "Easter Truce": It’s like going on hunger strike and secretly eating candy
Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavsky commented on the so-called "Easter truce" announced by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The minister doubts that Russia wants to end the war against Ukraine at all.
His statement was quoted by CNN Prima NEWS, Censor.NET reported.
Lipavsky criticized Russia's failure to comply with the "Easter truce" declared by Russia itself.
"It's like going on a hunger strike between breakfast and lunch and continuing to eat candy in secret... We see that the shelling continues. Ukraine reports that a number of attacks have taken place, so the ceasefire announced in this way is more of a media stunt than a reality," the Czech Foreign Minister said.
The diplomat also noted that the aggressor country refuses to agree to a 30-day truce, which Ukraine has already agreed to.
"Putin never agreed to it and started putting forward other conditions. We have to look at reality, not words," Lipavsky said.
He also expressed doubt that Russia even wants to end the war it started against Ukraine.
"If Russia didn't want the war, it wouldn't have started it. So now the only chance is for Ukraine to successfully defend itself, so that Russia cannot achieve its goals militarily. We see that they have not managed to destroy Ukraine in three years. But it is possible that a situation will arise when Russia will be ready to negotiate a ceasefire," the diplomat said.

Pentagon announces rotation of about 6000 troops in Eastern Europe
The US Department of Defense has announced a planned rotation of two US brigades in Eastern Europe. Earlier, the media wrote about the possible reduction of the US army in Europe after Donald Trump' s return to the White House.
According to Censor.NET, this was reported by DW.
It is noted that the US Department of Defense has announced a planned rotation this summer of approximately six thousand US military personnel serving in Eastern Europe. This message was published on Friday, April 18.
According to this information, the 3rd Armored Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division will replace the 1st Armored Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division in Europe. Several soldiers from the latter were recently killed in Lithuania during a training exercise.
In addition, the 1st Armored Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division of the US Army will replace the 3rd Armored Brigade of the 1st Armored Division in Europe.
The rotation will involve about 6,000 soldiers
According to the US military portal Task&Purpose, this is a planned rotation of about 6,000 US troops as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve. The United States and NATO have been conducting it since 2014. American soldiers are sent to serve for nine months in Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and the Baltic States.
On average, each US Army brigade has about 3-5 thousand soldiers. According to Task&Purpose, the 3rd Armored Brigade of the 1st Infantry Division, which is heading to Europe, has about 3,500 soldiers.
According to the U.S. European Command (Eucom), there are about 78,000 U.S. soldiers stationed in Europe, including about 37,000 in Germany. There are about 10 thousand in Poland.
The Pentagon has recently confirmed its intention to reduce the US military presence in Syria.
Recently, the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces in Europe and NATO, General Christopher Cavoli , stated that he did not agree with the idea of withdrawing U.S. troops from the continent. Source: https://censor.net/en/n3547815
More and more European countries are considering financing Ukrainian defense instead of supplying weapons - WP
More and more European countries are considering the model of injecting money into the Ukrainian defense industry instead of sending ready-made weapons.
This is stated in an article by The Washington Post, Censor.NET reports.
It is noted that there are doubts in Europe as to whether Europe will be able to fully compensate for the possible termination of American aid to Ukraine, especially air defense.
A European official, on condition of anonymity, told the publication that more and more European countries are considering a model of injecting money into the Ukrainian defense industry instead of sending ready-made weapons.
According to European representatives, this could speed up the provision of aid, as European stockpiles run out after sending weapons to Ukraine.
According to an unnamed European official, this strategy also allows NATO countries to use Ukraine as a kind of testing ground for weapons development and testing. This includes drones, in which NATO countries do not have the same experience as Ukrainians.

Wouldn't it be better to stop sending weapons and going for diplomacy to end this stupid war...
Europeans are wasting there money. Ukrainians are suffering for 3 years. And i guess some ordinary Russian civilians are kinda getting tired sending there children as draftees...
The more weapons you give. The longer the Ukranians will suffer. Especially since the US pulled back. Russia has the momentum.
Its almost impossible to regain all lost territory. In worst case Ukraine will lose more land. Russia suffers too. But they know they have the advantage and momentum. Even back home, i guess Russians are kinda calming down on protests. Because they feel the war will end soon in victory.
I know this potential defeat will come down hard for
Ukraine. Everyone would defend he's homeland at all costs.
But it kinda hurts me, seeing the war going on for years, to a point where its pointless. Thats why i hope they go for a peace deal. And the people stop getting killed...
I'm always been anti-war.
If you see Ukrainian and Russian draftees getting killed or heavily wounded with there guts spilling out, screaming for there mother... and the politicians staying behind there desk. You will understand what i mean...
Wouldn't it be better to stop sending weapons and going for diplomacy to end this stupid war...
Poo-tin doesn't want to end the war, that's a fact. :timeout:

Why do you still ignore that this has been done, by the dozens of times. And that Putin has no interest in peace if it does not translates into getting evertyhing he wants.
Or do you think "end of war" acceptably means "total surrender and subjugation and colonization and exploitation?
Do you think the Ukrainians wanted all this? That they have chosen all this voluntarily?
In what black box have you lived the recent three, four, five years? The hot war rages since 2014! And the Ukrainians did not start nor wanted it.
Whether the Ukrainians want to be unfree again, and surrender to Putin's imperaliastic demands, or that of Trumps great deal plan, is not our decision, but theirs.
Get your head out of the sand. Putin wants Ukraine destroyed as a sovereign entity. He wants to keep what he has stolen and plundered in mass murder. Trump wants control over Ukrainian economy, to plunder it as well and to replace rare earths that China withholds now and replace its sovereignty with dependency. Trump dispises Ukraine, and he hates Zelenskyi personally, wants revenge over him.
Russia cannot economically live anymore without war production. It needs war, and military production. Else the economy grinds to a bitter end. Putin can neither politically nor biologically survive if he does not win this war.
Putin lied into the face of Western leaders, personally, just hours before he invaded ukraine that he would not attack. Since then he told lies and manipulated, and cheated, and maniulated, and lied again and manipulated more.
Thousands and and thousands of Ukrainian kids have been kidnapped by the Russians, and given into foreign Russian families. What is runnign here, is genocide. Plain and simple. And Putin announced it before the war, said word by word that neither Ukriane has the right to exist as a state nor the ukrainians as an individual cultural ethnicity. He denied that they exist as beings not Russian. ATTEMPTED GENOCIDE it is what this war is. Read the definition in the praeambel of the anti genocide convention of I think 1951. Want to do a diplomatic tete a tete with somebody doing and saying such things? Wanna think he can be trusted?
Diplomacy is all nice and well. But it takes two. And it must have a realistic basis of realistically perceiving things as they are, not as what one wants them to be, and its goals must have a realistic way to be achieved. Currently, I see none except that one side looses the war of attrition and cannot keep up anymore and collapses, and must surrender. And that hardly is diplomacy, thats war.
Good intentions and meaning it well is not enough, can nevertheless lead to great evil and injustice.
And we others in Europe also cannot have an interest in Ukraine being overthrown by Russia. Because we are next. Better the war is now fought on Ukrainian soil, than in Poland, Finland, Romania.
You say you are anti war. Well, I am anti theft and anti burglary. Nevertheless, thieves and burglars exist. They commit their crimes, no matter whether I am anti that. What use is it if I demand that we should give appeal a chance and stop the police from persecuting thieves and burglars andf that we must not lock our doors?
Anyone who refuses to carry a sword in his hand can still be struck down by another's sword. Radical pacifists think that is okay, especially if it is not themselves gettign struck down. I don't think so. Its better to be strong and not needing to be strong, than to need strength but not having it.

Pro-Russian people could also argue and say that NATO is using Ukraine as a tool to fight Russia.
If always heard that its even forbidden for NATO to send military equipment to a non-NATO member.
Russia could make a complain about this towards the UN.
They can say '' we never attacked any EU or NATO country directly ''
In Russia, there is this believe, that the Western world (nato, US, Europe) wants to destroy Russia.
They believe that its NATO that keeps advancing there borders to the east, if Ukraine is a NATO member, Russia would be scared. Because NATO nuclear warheads can be installed in Ukraine in reach of Moscow (in theory)
Sometimes i try to see the Russian side of the story, and there perspective towards us.
You are not trying to see Russia, you speak Russia what you posted ^ is all FSB!
