Mapping Keyboard

Can a person remap the keyboard? If so how?
I dislike the enter = "Fire" command
I am ok with the space bar = "Fire"
In haste I inadvertently fire a torpedo when trying to accelerate or in free camera mode trying to zoom.

You would probably be interested to start with jimimadrid's SH_Keymapper (https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=4715) utility. The file you manipulate is commands.cfg found in the Game \Data \Cfg folder of your install. It is text-based, and can be opened in MS Notepad, or more easily in Notepad++ (https://notepad-plus-plus.org). No matter what you do though, make a back-up of the file first, for those "just-in-case" moments of time, when you go "WHOOPS!!!"...

i second PB's suggestion for jimi's keyboard mapper, which was originally designed for SH3 and can be usedfor SH4.

there is another keyboard tool, SH4 Keyboard Configurator (https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/downloads.php?do=file&id=4765). you can also use that to get the hang of things. sometimes i just use a text editor such as Notepad or Notepad++.
