Years ago, the West was laughing. It doesn't laugh anymore.

Just wait until they fall out which will inevitably happen in the future.
China, India and Russia will all have desires on being 'Top Dog'

They are united in three things: they all dispise the west, some more, some less, but all of them find the West disgusting; they have plenty of ressources, some of them critical and rare; and they represent an awesome share of all mankind.
Plus we clever Westerners all by ourselves torpedo the FIAT paper money we have enforced on all others. The Euro will fall, that is no surprise since it was a still birth from beginning on, but, and that is news to some, the dollar is dripping away, too.
Saudi Arabia is an OPEC heavyweight and is approaching Iran, and is opening up itself to China, and has slammed the door into America'S face repeatedly now due to the chaotic ME policy of the US.
I fear your scepticism on the BRICS states' survivability is unfounded, optimistic. Their influence grows, and rapidly. If the sceptics were right, BRICS should have been a word from the past already now. Instead, what the term means and points at, is flourishing in political and economic power. While America's and Europe's influence have lost at the same time.

BRICS gains ground, petrodollar scheme gives ground. And the EU - pisses of its next important business partner, Malaysia. Brussle really thinks that the rest fo the world cares for its bureaucratic amok runs.
The article mentions this book, that I had on my radar already before, but I have not yet gotten it. I'm not certain that it interests me that much to read it all in English.

Thank you, Markus. ;)
Who of these members of BRICS have the highest BNP and who has the second highest ?
I would say the country with the highest BNP should be the leader of the group or they could rotate every 2nd year.
Dollar..Will soon be worthless-I'm not an economist, only a feeling.
Here what I think will happen in the future regarding this BRICS
More country-especially African country will join and more country in South America even countries in Central America will join in the future.
They will develop their own currency.
Nothing but a wild guess.

BRICS is no organization like the WTO, just a quick name to sumamrize a couple of nations who share views and coor8idnate their polticla and eocnimic ambitions in a certain way. As an informal group, they beocme more and more influential, have more and more nations thinking likewise signing tretaies and deals, and may trigger the founding of formal organizations that are rivalling those initiated by the West long time ago. To beocme independent from the rule of the dollar is one declared intention, and we see movement, step by step, into that direction. The article I linked in Google-Translator gives a few examples.
