We have a Movie thread but no TV Series thread, so, I'll start the ball rolling.

Number (1) is a bleeding great series, I'm 6 episodes in and this is turning out to be a diamond in a field of horse manure, no heroes, no super humans, it's just survive or die.

Number (2) is not usually what I would watch but as it's supposedly based on a true story I thought I'd give it a go. I'm 3 episodes in and so far it's a bit iffy, (iffy) means I'm not really taken by this series and some of the language she uses wouldn't be heard in a brothel, but I've started it so I'll finish it to the end.

Number (3) this has all the makings of a good series, I'm only 1 episode in but there's a range war on the horizon between ranchers and sheep farmers and I'm thinking the body count is going to spiral upwards. There's only one man who will come out of this a rich man and that's the bleeding Undertaker.

Number (4) I'm once again 1 episode in and I'm thinking this is another iffy one, I just can't believe everyone was a bunch of bleeding savages in the wild west but that's the vibe I'm getting with this series. I'll keep on watching it to the end but I'm thinking I've made another boo boo just like I have with number (2)

(1) The Last Of Us.
Twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.

Series Final Rating 8\10

(2) The Law According to Lidia Poët. (based on a true story by all accounts) Hmmmm
In late 19th-century Turin, the young Lidia Poët, fights against everything and everyone to get what is rightfully hers: to be enrolled in the official register of lawyers. A profession, at the time, reserved exclusively for men. Nevertheless, nothing could stop her dream of becoming the first female lawyer in Italy.

Series Final Rating 7\10

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyIeHa0zvXM

(3) 1923
Follow a new generation of the Dutton family during the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.
I stopped watching this bollocks after Series 1, the writers may have believed they had a "Band of Brothers" smash hit on their hands but the series disappeared up it's own ass.

First Series Rating 5\10

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYMeik_nmUA

(4) The English
An aristocratic Englishwoman, Lady Cornelia Locke, arrives into the new and wild landscape of the West to wreak revenge on the man she sees as responsible for the death of her son.

Series Final Rating 6\10

I gave the series an extra 0.5 just because Emily Blunt was in it.

We don't have Netflix nor do we watch any TV, online or otherwise, so my suggestions will all come from DVD boxed sets.

We just finished binge watching the whole of "Breaking Bad" - the last word in black comedy (bad language warning!)

There have been so many shows throughout the long years that I have no clear favorite but as I look over this thread this one came to mind first:

I watched this program a couple of months ago, how the hell I forgot about this series is beyond me, so I've corrected that memory error.
I enjoyed watching this first Series with Jenna Ortega, I think many a young actress couldn't have played the part of Wednesday Addams and her teenage years but Jenna did a fine job of it and I'll watch a second series if there is one.

Don't take it seriously and you'll probably enjoy it like I did, there are a couple of downsides to this Series, such as a not very good script and Gomez Addams acted by Luis Guzmán, this was a total bleeding mismatch in my opinion, but I persevered with it and gave it a 6.5\10 in the end, which is a bloody good rating for me. :D

In a future where the elite inhabit an island paradise far from the crowded slums, you get one chance to join the 3% saved from squalor.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yyzNQfaQR8

I'm 6 episodes in with 2 to go, I thought this was going to be a load of tripe and I would be turning it off pretty damned quick but, it has turned out to be quite a decent watch so far. If anyone has seen the TV Serial Squid Game then this is a less violent series on how to be eliminated from achieving their goal of being in the elite 3% who make it through the tests. It was made in 2016 so it isn't a rip off of the violence ridden Squid Game, this TV Series focuses on brain power and sometimes having to work as a unit to get through a test, the wrong answer to a question or scenario will get them eliminated, not killed but, sent back inland to where they came from. There are some violent scenes and some scenarios that involve death but that isn't the normal way a test is conducted.

Has a modern feel to it which is rather at odds with the period look at times. For example, when under cannon fire from a shore battery somebody on the ship yells "Incoming!" I'm sure that nobody back then would ever even have heard this expression.

If you can get past this then it's a cracking series with great visuals, stories and music

For The People.
Brand new lawyers work for both the defense and the prosecution as they handle the most high profile and high stakes cases in the country – all as their personal lives intersect.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8E_zISqHwHs

Kate Littlejohn (Prosecutor) vs Sandra Bell (Public Defender).
These two lawyers made this show, the cold and ruthless manner of Kate Littlejohn v the compassionate and empathetic Sandra Bell was a sight to behold. Lawyers must keep their emotions in check or their opponents will use that against them, in Sandra's first trial case she learnt that lesson the hard way.
I liked this Series and it was a damned shame a 3rd one was cancelled, I'm guessing viewer ratings was the cause as usual, thick stupid Americans who prefer watching reality TV instead of brain food such as this need a kick in the bleeding nether regions, if any of you can name another courtroom drama such as this I'd be extremely grateful.

I'm currently watching anything Zombie related these days, the western worlds population are acting like a load of bleeding zombies so I thought if I could get into their zombie infested brains I might be able to understand just where they're coming from, I mean the population, not the zombies.

Z Nation
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ZFIS2AqAz8

Season 1.
Blood, gore and people fighting for their very lives, this is bleeding great I thought, just carry on with this and it'll be well worth watching. Sadly, that was a huge mistake on my part as the writers of the show began to put unrealistic scenario after scenario in each and every episode that followed, by the end of the first season I had steam pouring out of my bleeding ears.

Season 2.
oh my bleeding word, what have these bleeding idiots done to this show, the whole of the second season should have been scrapped and re-written by someone who is even slightly competent, These writers should be tarred and feathered and the useless bastards thrown into a bleeding dustbin, (trashcan) for those people who abuse the English language on a daily basis. I know it's not your fault that your "Founding Fathers" were as thick as the proverbial brick but that's another story. :O:

Season 3.
I managed to watch 2 episodes before I admitted defeat and threw the bleeding towel in, I'd had enough, I couldn't take anymore of this bollocks, the series started out so promising with season 1's first episode getting a mighty 7.2\10 and slowly but surely descending into the shambolic putrid smelling garbage that it finally became.
I have to give it an honest rating and, taking the first ever episode into account I'm going to give it an overall rating.

Overall Rating 2.5\10.

This could have been the second best of the best zombie series that there's ever been but, the writers just weren't up to the job, what a bleeding shame, at least "The Last Of Us" is a deserved leader of the top spot for now.

I'm going to watch "Day of the Dead" next, a comedy zombie series by all accounts and after that the South Korean series "All of Us Are Dead" a school children zombie apocalypse, it sounds interesting, I can imagine eating a schoolgirl throws some interesting questions up for the writers and director so they'll have to handle that one rather delicately...... :03:

All Of Us Are Dead

After a failed science experiment, a local high school is overrun with zombies, and the trapped students struggle to survive. With no food or water, and communication cut-off by the government, they must use equipment around the school to protect themselves in the midst of a battleground or they will become part of the infected.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IN5TD4VRcSM

Well, well, well, a decent zombie series for once, I've watched countless Movies and TV Series on this subject matter and this show is one of the better one's. If you're hoping to see great actresses and actors like Katharine Hepburn and Gregory Peck then you're gonna be disappointed, most of them are only teenagers who've probably never been in a show as big as this before. There were a few movie\tv cliche moments such as a Mum and a Dad risking their lives to find their children, I don't know who invented this scenario but it's been done to death and it just becomes cringeworthy and needs to stop like 20 years ago, this is where the writer and the director were lacking in some inspirational creativity. Apart from that, it was an enjoyable show, it could have been done better and needed polishing up here and there but overall it hit a home run for me.

"The story is set in a parallel universe where technology is highly advanced and lifelike humanoids called Synths are the must-have machines for any household. Joe Hawkins decides to buy a Synth to help out at home, but his wife, Laura, feels uncomfortable around the humanoid. Elsewhere a widower tries to fix his malfunctioning Synth "Odi", who holds some precious memories of his late wife."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BV8qFeZxZPE

I liked this show, not a lot, but I liked it, my favourite characters were, DI Karen Voss, Mia,(aka) Anita and Niska, there are a few others who should get a mention but if you watch the series you'll know who they are. No humans made it on to the list, I could give a shout out to at least 5 humans, but overall I felt that there were too many nasty bastards in high places to give a **** about any of them. Only criticims I had about the show was, it was at least 4 hours too long and, not enough human\synth interaction was shown throughout the country, now that would have been a better use of those 4 hours, that seems to have got away from the writers, once again they missed the bloody creativity boat, ah well, maybe next time....

MASH, the most British pitch black comedy ever to come out of the US. I absolutely love that one and it is THE main reason I miss not having a TV anymore. It is also the series that sparked my love for helicopters, believe it or not. When I grow up, if ever, I want a scale Bell 47 rc model!

The Boys
Superheroes are often as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and sometimes even as revered as gods. But that's when they're using their powers for good. What happens when the heroes go rogue and start abusing their powers?.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1bhOaLV4FU

Seven Freaks and a multibillion dollar conglomerate against 2 human pipsqueaks, it wasn't looking good but, there's always someone willing to help, or should that be coerced?.

Wow, when I started watching this series I expected it to be just the same as that stupid twat from the 1970's, you know who I mean, "Superman", with a few villains thrown in as cannonfodder to satisfy "Hollywoods" big bleeding Ego. Yeah, Mr President, which desk do you want me to bend over so you can stick that big bleeding flagpole up my bleeding ass, what a load of bleeding junk that was.

Oh boy, that's not so with these bleeding freaks, they're violent, murdering, raping bastards and, when things go South they have a multibillion-dollar conglomerate that covers up all their dirty little secrets for them. There are a few heroes who still have a shred of decency about them but they're overshadowed by the bad ones, suffice to say I'm enjoying watching "The Boys" give the freaks a kick in the pants every now and then.
Whoo Hoo, little piss ant humans taking on the "Superheroes" and even sending one of them to hell, that's one pervert gone but there's an endless conveyor belt of freaks waiting in the wings, it's about time The Boys upped their game me thinks.
I'm halfway through the second season and I'm giving this series a rating on what I've seen so far.

The Morning Show.

The show examines the characters and culture behind a network broadcast morning news program. After allegations of sexual misconduct, the male coanchor of the program is forced off the show. Aspects of the #MeToo movement are examined from multiple perspectives, as more and more information comes out regarding said misconduct.

Series One.

This show is not great TV, but it is interesting, when Reese Witherspoon delivered a couple of off script truth bombs I thought the producer and the Network Executives were going to bleeding wet themselves, sadly, there weren't enough of those moments to make this show into a classic. I've watched the first series and "truth be told" I was extremely disappointed with it

There's a great cast to the show and they did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life, but, I couldn't shake that feeling off that they were missing out on something, what could it be I wondered?.

Then it hit me, "Like a Smack in the Mouth" the #MeToo Movement, Woke Twitter, Abortion Laws, Toxic Work Environments, Police Brutality, Gun Laws, etc, that's what it was missing, something that would light a fire under the asses of "Middle America". They should have Focused mainly on one subject per episode and you could have set the scenes for mass demonstrations from both sides of the argument, but, unfortunately they didn't have the bollocks to go for it and, that's why it didn't get the rating it should have had.

There's no let up with this News Station, the drug and crime statistics are shoved onto the backburner and there's no dodgy politicians either, bloody hell, how unrealistic is that?, and there is the problem with the series, there isn't a lot of News being fed into the station, a News Station with out News, whoever thought of that should have been smacked around the head with a baseball bat until he reconsiders his position, a touch of sarcasm was inserted in that paragraph, I hope you Americans appreciate it.

There could have been 20 to 30 episodes to Series One if they had really gone for it but, they decided that lot above wasn't needed and decided to their disadvantage that a power struggle behind the scenes would be more interesting, lazy TV script writers again, Its no wonder that Movies these days are devoid of any spark of creativity, oh well, perhaps next year.......

Series One Rating.

Silo
In a bleak dystopian future, humanity clings to survival deep underground within the confines of a colossal silo. Juliette, an engineer tasked with unraveling the mystery behind the death of a colleague, uncovers startling secrets that threaten the very fabric of their enclosed world

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZYhuvIv1pA

A dystopian murder mystery drama, I’m not sure why its been getting rave reviews because this is just another inferior Agatha Christie murder mystery drama that's underground?. The first episode and all of the others up to episode 8 barely touched on the main theme of the series which is, what was planet earth really like?, what happened on the planet?, who built the silo?, why was there a revolt in the first place (and against whom)?.

Lots of questions but no real answers, well not until the 8th episode that is and, even then with barely any help from the writers I'd already worked out how they were spying on the public and who were the nasty bastards secretly running the silo. But, the big questions like the who, why, what and the how was still missing an answer.
I might find out later this month with episode 9, but, that begs the question, there's a season 2 in the pipeline, why would they need one?, are they just going to keep murdering people and starting all this bollocks from scratch again?, who knows.

Aha, I almost forgot.
When the power source of the silo went down there was a huge clue available for a split second, you caught a glimpse of the lush green outside world through a fake window, why was I the only one to see it, hmmm, was it just another tiny clue to keep your juices satiated?.
I'm hoping - that maybe - just maybe - that the next few episodes get a move on as this tv series is starting to get ponderous and that's pretty dangerous ground to be on.

Black Mirror.

A contemporary British re-working of The Twilight Zone with stories that tap into the collective unease about our modern world. Over the last ten years, technology has transformed almost every aspect of our lives before we've had time to stop and question it. In every home; on every desk; in every palm - a plasma screen; a monitor; a smartphone - a black mirror of our 21st Century existence.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0XOApF5nLU

Its not a proper TV series and its not a Movie either so, I decided to put it in this thread as its a series of different themes instead of a Movie thread which just focuses on one subject, as in sci fi etc....

This show is bloody brilliant, I've watched them all up to Demon79 season 6 and there's only been 2 or 3 that I wasn't keen on, the rest of them however are a pleasure to watch as the consequences of the main actors or an unknown actor\s actions unfold.

I have to give it an overall rating instead of a series rating as each episode is different from the others.

Bargain.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mi33lFSWVGk

Noh Hyung-soo arrives at a remote hotel thinking he's meeting high school student Park Joo Young for sex, not just any old sex by the way, but paying a young lady for her virginity kind of sex. Well, this deed does not go unpunished, in fact it's going to get a whole lot worse for him as he's discovered that he's now become the merchandise. To his horror he's realized that he's stumbled into an organ-harvesting ring and those organs of his are up for sale to the highest bidder.

As if nothing else could make his day even worse than it is, an earthquake happens, wow, these Koreans are innovative and fast paced as hell, it's completely different to play it safe Hollywood and their gender type bollocks that they're constantly trying to shove down your throats.

Virgin sex, organ harvesting and an earthquake, all in the first 25 minutes, it doesn't get much better than that.

So, I watched the 1st episode and enjoyed every minute of it and, I've decided to give it an above average rating too, it would have got an even higher rating if the young girl had got her kit off but we beggars can't be choosers can we. :haha:

First Episode Rating 6.9\10

Update.

After watching all six short episodes I'm going to give this 6 part series an overall rating. I'll just give you a hint of what the next 5 episodes offer, the supposedly virgin girl has now ended up on a survival mission, with a mission of revenge as a side salad thrown into the mix and, just don't get in her way as killing and untruths come out from her like bees around honey. That reminds me as well, there are other protagonists who have their own agendas too, who survives and who lives?, that is the question. :O:

Overall Rating 6.8\10

Child chess prodigy Beth Harmon, a little girl discovers she has a talent for chess, her real mother had a Phd and she wrote books on mathematics, so it was laying dormant in her genes from the very beginning. Drug addicted from an early age of 9 in the orphanage and later in her teens she becomes alcohol addicted, she's treading a fine line between madness and genius.

That's all you get, no more Spoilers for you on this mini series.
What did I think of it?, well, for a start it was well acted, and Anna Taylor Joy as Beth was outstanding and, so was the series as a whole. I couldn't pick many faults out with this one and that's why I'm giving it such a good rating.

Mini Series Rating 8.5\10

I wouldn't call this spinoff a big pile of steaming garbage that rides off the back of "The Boys" but it's not far off, I watched all 8 episodes but I kept asking myself why am I still watching this series?. It certainly wasn't for the quality acting or the story line and, the same goes for the agenda messages and stereotypes that they just shoved in, then there was the characters, yeah, truth be told I didn't like any of them either. The only outcome I can hope for with this boring messy work is that it gets cancelled and pretty damned quick, plenty of gore without good characters and a decent storyline doesn't make for a series that I would ever watch again.

Yesterday, Netflix officially premiered "The Three-Body Problem," a new drama carefully produced by the original team of "Game of Thrones." The drama is adapted from the long science fiction novel "The Three-Body" written by Chinese author Liu Cixin. The opening scene of the first episode describes a scene during the Chinese Cultural Revolution, which has caused widespread heated discussions on social media (excluding viewers in China, because the drama has been banned by the Chinese government due to the censorship system). Many people commented that it was too violent and bloody, while others, particularly those who experienced the Cultural Revolution firsthand, argued that due to Netflix's rating system, it was impossible to fully capture the brutal reality of the era on screen.

Indeed, my grandfather was one of those cruelty abused and maltreatment to death through struggle sessions. My mother was the daughter forced to witness her father's gruesome death. What was even more horrifying than depicted in the video was the public torture and abuse my grandfather endured day after day, beaten until unconsciousness, only to be dragged away and repeated the next morning. After each session, the Red Guards would force my grandmother, along with my mother and her siblings, to kneel on stage and clean up my grandfather's blood. My mother rarely recalled that period of her life. But one evening on the anniversary of my grandfather's death, when I was 16 years old, after drinking some glasses of wine, she began to recount those cruel memories to me. My mother who always proud and elegant broken down that night as if sulfuric acid had been poured onto a gypsum statue. She cried out like a child, tears streaming down her face, shouting for“Baba(father)”. I held her tightly, fearing she would shatter into sand and I would never be able to put her back together. She completely collapsed in my arms, crying out, "Those demons who killed my father! Not a single one was punished! Those executioners! Never apologized! They live among us, as if nothing ever happened, as if they were human!"

That night, she cried herself to sleep in my embrace, while I stayed awake, fearing that the black hole of memory would consume her. Thankfully, the next day, my mother woke up and resumed her usual demeanor. For many years, she never mentioned it again until her passing, and I realized it was the cruelest pain and hatred she could never resolve in her life. Her elegance was her armor, her shield, and her spear. She made those demons see that even though they could destroy lives, they could never destroy spirits. There were things she wouldn't allow them to shatter! While people watch this TV series as entertainment but for me that feels like watching a documentary of my family's history. As I write these words today, my heart still bleeds. I feel I have to record that real history. Because those who lived through it are passing away, yet, the justice has not been arrived! Please also understand that the painful experiences of my family are just one in a million within that man-made catastrophe. Nowadays, those Red Guards who have shown no remorse and never apologized are regaining unlimited privileges. Throughout their upbringing, they were never taught the kindness of human nature but were only instilled with the cold, ruthless of revolutionary struggle. They grew up in a cruel red environment and slaughter was the only skill of their life. https://twitter.com/YueMillward/status/1771066191257448689

Extraordinary.

In a world where everyone develops a power on their 18th birthday, Jen didn't. She's turning 25 and is still waiting to get hers. Adrift in a big, confusing world and armed with nothing but a bit of hope and a lot of desperation, Jen begins her journey to find her maybe-superpower. But in doing so, she might discover the joy of being just kind of ok.

A great light hearted comedy series with some weird and whacky characters, a huge shout out to Angela the young shop keeper, for one so young she showed us that age is no barrier to talent. If this show doesn't make you laugh then you're already too far gone in the head to appreciate anything.

Skybirds Review
"Oh man, that Fallout series is good, really good! They nailed all the typical details and features that characterise the game, and the looks are incredibly close to the game's world. Watched the first three (of eight) episodes, and fully enjoyed what I saw, giggled, and laughed. The humour is black and sometimes tough, the gore is so very much over the top that only a fool would take serious offence from it, and the absurdity of so many scenes and situations from the game is transported almost on a 1:1 basis, by which I mean they did not copy the same jokes and situation comedy, but they inhaled and then breathed out the spirit everything in Fallout breathes.

Very good adaptation! They nailed it."

Well, I never played the game so I won't comment on it but, I have watched all eight episodes of the TV Series and I can say without any bias that it totally rocked my boat, yeah, and Lucy "Ella Purnell" rocked it as well. The outstanding character of the series was The Ghoul "Walton Goggins", I'm surmising with that ending that there's going to be a 2nd series and maybe even a 3rd, if they keep to the same format I cant see why it won't keep the rating that I've given it.

Overall Rating 8.5\10

This series just beats "The Last Of Us" to gain my Top Spot Award, The Ghouls interactions with the naive Lucy made my day.

Woohoo a whodunnit, what a little gem this series is turning out to be, I'm 3 episodes and its got me hooked, no flashy graphics, just a plain old whodunnit, and plane is the operative word here, because most of it so far is onboard a plane.
The detective who's escorting the prisoner "Dr Nolan" back to China soon finds out that this is more than an escort job, if you have an IQ of 85 or less I'd give this a miss, for anyone else it's time to put your Miss Marple head on.

Update

I've binge watched the last 3 episodes and this 6 part series was gripping stuff, there were twists and turns to this up until the very end. Its not very often that I'm impressed with British TV but I am with this series. It was great stuff ITV and my rating reflects that.

It's an American TV comedy series, it's light on laughs and the canned laughter has me grinding my teeth but it has Courtney Cox in it and that's good enough for me. If this is what they call comedy over the pond it's no wonder that they have so many shrinks making millions of dollars out of the braindead fools.
I'm on series 1 episode 8 and there hasn't been anything much to write home about as yet, but, there was one memorable scene in episode 1, no, no, I'm not going to tell you what it was, but, I should have stopped watching it then and there and claimed a win but the Courtney effect kicked in, I think I'll give that scene another look by the way. :haha:

Brassic (2019 )

A group of working-class friends finding unconventional ways to win at life in northern suburbia. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtbEWBIPOEk

Brassic is a very good comedy drama, this could be a classic that rivals the UK version of "Shameless", that's if the writers can keep this level up. The actors all played their part well, and the storyline, although not the best was enough to keep me watching it. I've only watched the first episode and it's got my nod of approval, there's some swearing in this series, so it's best if there's no children about if you do decide to watch it.

Stranger Things

This thrilling Netflix original drama stars Golden Globe-winning actress Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, who lives in a small Indiana town in 1983 -- inspired by a time when tales of science fiction captivated audiences. When Joyce's 12-year-old son, Will, goes missing, she launches a terrifying investigation into his disappearance with local authorities. As they search for answers, they unravel a series of extraordinary mysteries involving secret government experiments, unnerving supernatural forces, and a very unusual little girl.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9EkMc79ZSU

This TV Series is slow, in fact, if it got any slower it would be in reverse, the reviews said this show was fantastic, the only fantastic thing I've seen so far is Winona Ryder knocking her character out of the ball park for a home run.
There's no criticism of any other characters either, all play their part OK but they aren't going to win an Oscar for it.
I'm 5 episodes in and I still don't know where the character Eleven fits into this show, how did she get her powers?, are there more like her?, why doesn't she go to that secret government lab and squash it like a tin can?. There are more questions than answers and it's been reflected in my 5 episode review of this series.

I'll watch this series till the end of season 1 but, if it doesn't get into 3rd gear by the end of it I'll be giving it the boot.

Reasonable Doubt 2022

In Reasonable Doubt, you'll judge Jax Stewart for her questionable ethics and wild interpretations of the law until you're the one in trouble Then you'll see her for what she is the most brilliant and fearless defence attorney in Los Angeles who bucks the justice system at every chance she gets.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nI3rb3BeQ8

As you'll come to realize this show is specifically aimed at the black community, who I find to be the most racist people on earth even though they'll deny it. If this had been made in the UK it would have gone down like a lead balloon, why the hell you yanks put op with this black garbage I have no idea but, every time I watch a defence lawyer show they always use Race as a weapon of mass destruction.

This show could have been terrific, But... the constant ragging on white people and calling them every name in the book for absolutely zero reason Is not ok, it wouldn't be ok if the races were reversed, and it's not ok this way either.
I mean, it's all the way to the point of, the only mention of a white woman is the one who lied about being sexually assaulted and is discredited without a second thought, but a black woman who claims to be sexually assaulted (also by a rich black man) gets upset that she isn't immediately believed by opposing counsel? Come on.....
It's fine when it's done in a way that fits in with the storyline, but the characters are talking badly about white people and calling them names without any provocation whatsoever, I'm not going to recommend this show, as there's too much bollocks in it and, all the "f whitey" stuff should have taken a back seat and driven over the nearest high cliff along with the screenwriters.

TV Rating 4\10.

It scraped in at 4\10 which is under average, if there was less of the racial bollocks slurs and a lot more white cast to even things out it would have got a 6 or higher.

Slow Horses 2022.

Slough House is a dumping ground for members of the intelligence service who have screwed up, left a service file on a train or have blown a surveillance, or become drunkenly unreliable, they're the services poor relations. A dysfunctional team of MI5 agents and their obnoxious boss, the notorious Jackson Lamb, navigate the espionage world's smoke and mirrors to defend England from sinister forces.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9ZJChzPn0U

I like the premise of this series, spying is not all glam and travel like a James Bond movie, but ranges from the mundane surveillance to the disgusting such as going through someone's rubbish.
Each character is fleshed out throughout the episodes and their flaws, of which there are many are actually their main assets.
The boss man, Jackson Lamb, is brilliantly played by Gary Oldman, lank greasy hair, questionable hygiene habits, a flatulent chain smoker, who, despite his disparaging comments about and to his team, will go to the wall for them.
This is more like an incompetent Columbo type series, some of the characters are so thick I wondered how MI5 employed them in the first place, but, as we've all seen over the years, the stupid always get rewarded somehow.

TV Series Rating 7.5\10.

There was the usual Woke bollocks in this series but, if you look beyond all that nonsense you'll find out that this show is pretty good.

Citadel: Diana

The global spy agency Citadel was destroyed by the syndicate, Manticore; since then, Diana Cavalieri, an undercover Citadel agent, is alone, trapped behind enemy lines; the only way out for her is trusting, Edo Zani, the heir of Manticore Italy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8i1RCK1rCuM

Citadel Diana was OK for a run of the mill spy drama, it was a straightforward show with a straightforward story but a few things put me off it, 1st, those flashback scenes were just too much, one is enough for me and no more, 2nd, Diana's hair wig, what the hell was that all about?, and 3rd, the head of the Zani family, he didn't need a gun as he could kill you with one boring sentence.
Apart from that the series had the usual professional killers who couldn't hit a barn door at 30 paces to save their lives, maybe next time eh, or even better, portray them as the trained killers that they are instead of a bunch of bleeding incompetents.
Matilda de Angelis as Diana navigated a series of double crosses in an action packed thriller without much action or thrills, it really needed the Russo brothers to upgrade that script because it had more bore than gore in the end.
Matilda is a decent actress but she really needs to work on her voice, get a voice coach you daft mare, she uses her normal voice as she did in the series "The Law According to Lidia Poet" in every role she plays.

TV Series Rating 5\10.

There were a lot of negatives with the series, but it still managed to get 5\10 which is still pretty good, if they'd sorted those out from the start it could have been a surprise hit of the year.

A big plus for Matilda de Angelis, she's always worth one, a look that is you perverts, a look. :O:

It is good. A small cast and budget....but high quality script, actors, locations etc. And you can see that it "influenced" a few much later similarly themed movies. The whole series is on the net if you want me to point you in the right direction. When I rediscovered it recently, I binge watched the whole lot and was not disappointed, it's aged very well. A superior tv series.

Yes I know the 2 movies I think you refer to: "The Eagle" and "Centurion" - both favourite films

It would seem to me that this TV series was inspired by the book of that name by Rosemary Sutcliff. She also wrote "Sword at Sunset" (which my brother and I read avidly when we were about 13) which gives the Arthurian legend a realist treatment, whereby Arthur is an ex-native British levy, late of the Roman occupation army. She wrote the most bloodthirsty stuff - not at all what you'd expect if you ever saw her - a genteel old lady

Marvels The Defenders

Four of Marvel's biggest heroes are each working individually but have one common goal in mind -- to save New York City. Burdened with their own personal challenges, Matt Murdock (Daredevil), Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand (Iron Fist) realize that they likely won't be able to accomplish their goals working solo. That realization leads them to team up and form The Defenders, a supergroup that is more equipped to save the Big Apple than the heroes would be if they continued to work on their own.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYvHxEEgrPA

While most of the villains were extremely underwhelming threats and the heroes weren't much better either, I did make it to the end without committing suicide, it was a close run thing though.
They had the opportunity to make the villains an incredibly scary shadowy organization of highly skilled ninja warriors but instead we got another legion of generic piss poor gun/swordsmen. When are these pillocks going to learn that it isn't the number of dead bodies that make a good series but the skill of the bad guys that should have the heroes trembling in fear when they go into battle against them that makes one.
There was some good acting especially from Jessica Jones and the fight scenes weren't too shabby either but they would have been so much better if the villains were up to the job, just one more thing and it was a showstopper for me, Sigourney Weaver was totally miscast in this average show, why the hell didn't they make her terrifying instead of a mouse that squeaked instead of roaring like a lion.

As a young "Man of Culture" growing up in early '60s Australia "The Samurai" tv series with Shintaro and Tombei and hordes of ninjas was HUGE. Us kids couldn't get enough of the melodramatic acting, the dramatic posturing/posing, the "alien" ( to us ) music, the stunning scenery - landscape and buildings, exotic costumes, weird haircuts, etc etc. It was a great introduction to the exotic world on our "doorstep".

Years later with surfing the net I'm finding a heap of amazing stuff from Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia. The Split is a British TV 6-episode 3 season legal drama series which follows the lives of the Defoe family who work in divorce law, aside from the youngest sister who works as a nanny. It's a well made series with decent acting by the cast and even though I don't usually watch these type of series it's piqued my interest. The series is heavily focussed on relationships, it never goes overboard with the melodrama but it came close at times. There is a sexual predator in this series, there's always one in every office isn't there, I think they put him in to spice things up a bit, midlife crises and all that, is he going to get her panties off or isn't he type of thing, me thinks she needs some excitement somewhere because she's lacking something in her life.

Barcelona, 23 May 1981; eleven hooded men broke into the headquarters of the Central Bank of Barcelona; what began as a spectacular robbery quickly became a real challenge to Spain's new democracy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwK_11zpSuA

They tried to make it interesting but they failed, a weak script that had 3 hours and 34 minutes of yackity yak and a few gunshots to stop you falling asleep, it was boring and excessively long. The location of the bank isn't even in Barcelona and the acting is sub par at best, María Pedraza as a young reporter isn't a good actress so she was probably casted for her looks and even they were just above average. As for the real history of the events of that time, either someone doesn't know their Spanish history or they were trying to rewrite this series to suit their own narrative, don't use this rubbish in your Spanish history A Levels or you'll fail them.

Not My Review.

Japan’s 17th-century historical drama “Shōgun” is by far a Hollywood masterpiece. The meticulous details in the set design, wardrobe, and character development take you back to a time of protocol, duty, love, and power when one lapse in judgment can mean death.
The tale opens in 1600 with an English sailor, John Blackthorne –a perfectly cast (Jarvis), marooned in Japan with his ship crew. Blackthorne and his ship end up in the enemy’s possession of the politically savvy Lord Toranaga (Sanada). He sees the Englishman as a chess piece to be used against his rivals, the council of lords ruling the country. This encounter marks the beginning of a significant cultural exchange between the English and the Japanese, a theme that runs throughout the series and will be of particular interest to those fascinated by Japanese culture.
Blackthorne, thrown into a strange land and culture, quickly learns he must adapt to avoid death. Through his eyes, we learn the culture of 1600s Japan, along with the samurai warrior class and the overall fatalism regarding death. A willing participant, he learns their ways and becomes a high-ranking samurai, thus entwining his fate with Lord Toranaga.
The series is predominantly in Japanese with subtitles and, of course, English, so you will need to pay attention. I found myself rewatching some of the scenes, as the violent action scenes tell the visual story between the characters. The visual mastery and choreography of the action scenes are some of the best I’ve seen, with their resolute portrayal of even the minor violent scenes. These engaging action scenes will keep you on the edge of your seat, eager to experience the series in its entirety.

Got a few question related to this TV Series thread

I think it was a comedy. The series follows a group of young people in an university for wizards and witches.

This one was a comedy. Here you followed a family who was shaped as dinosaur.

The last one was a drama-Here you followed young people who was going in school to become lawyer.

It's not a great series and it's not a bad one either, could that possibly be the twilight zone it's in then?, no, no, no it isn't, it's the grey zone, a place where you can't make your mind up whether you like it or not, but you keep on watching it.
The creator of the show left after 5 episodes as he said management were sticking their noses in where they didn't belong and that's why it only lasted 2 seasons.
It's supposed to be a comedy drama, really, I didn't see much of that, and the drama, well lets just say they tried but they effed that up as well, it's rating time so I'll be kind to it even though it doesn't really deserve it.

The series has been going for nearly 30? years and at last count? had 142 !!!!! episodes. It's set in the picturesque :) English County of Midsomer, very pretty. I don't know how many people live there but by golly they're bloodthirsty. About 150 murders in nearly 30 years in a small? picturesque village. Jesus Christ, I thought I lived in a dangerous area. The sex lives of college girls.

Four 18-year-old freshman roommates at Essex College in Vermont. A bundle of contradictions and hormones, these sexually active college girls are equal parts lovable and infuriating.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgQ-ugHEhiA

Not my review.

As a current college student myself it's really nice to see tv show finally made about us rather than high schoolers. With that being said, is this show perfect, no but I very much enjoyed it nonetheless. The main issues I had were with dialogue that at times shows that this was a show written by millennial rather than gen z aged college kids; and the believability that this is a real college environment particularly in the wardrobe choices and even how the sorority recruitment went. But if you don't care about those things then this is a really fun show! The characters are flawed and relatable young adults and I was definitely watch the next season!

I'm 5 episodes in on the 2nd season and I've forced my self to watch it, this tripe is not to my taste but hey, I'm a bleeding fossil compared to these young ones so a lot of leeway has been given on my part.

Not My Review.

Ish is a geologist, and within minutes of the premiere, he’s bitten on the hand by a rattlesnake. He manages to suck out enough venom to survive but ends up unconscious at home for days. When he finally wakes up, he gradually discovers that nearly everyone is dead. A fast-moving pandemic wiped out humanity. Apparently, skepticism stemming from overreactions to the previous pandemic led people to dismiss the real danger this time. Hmm.

Series Rating 5\10

I watched the first 2 episodes of 6, a lot of bollocks is involved with the series, Rattlesnake bite, cut the wound open and suck the venom out is so 1950's TV I almost turned it off, but I stayed with it and I'll watch all 6 episodes to the end.
There's a lot more bollocks in the 2nd episode as well so I think it'll continue as it started, only good thing about it is there are no Zombies, although I suspect a lot of couch potatoes will watch it.

The Hood Maker

"Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams" is a 10-episode science-fiction anthology series that journeys into unique worlds beyond the reach of the imagination. Based on short stories written by Dick, each stand-alone episode is inspired by a different story, adapted by a team of leading British and American writers. The all-star cast changes with each episode and includes Bryan Cranston, Steve Buscemi, Greg Kinnear, Timothy Spall and Anna Paquin.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSzenLCIsBg

We all have those moments when you have a feeling something is about to happen, and it does, this show is very similar to "The Black Mirror" series so I wont be revealing anything as it would spoil everything. The first episode looks into a world of Telepaths and normal humans, no one would like their inner thoughts being read by the police or government so someone invented a mask to block out any telepathic thoughts when you wore one.
It's a pretty simple first episode, use a telepath to find out who "The Hood Maker" is and, where they are making them, there's always a twist to these tales and this one is no exception.

First Episode Rating, 6\10.

The first rung of Good, I always did like these programmes so I'll always give them a decent rating.

The Stand (1994)

When a government-run lab accidentally lets loose a deadly virus, most of the population of the world is wiped out. Survivors begin having dreams about two figures: a mystical old woman, or a foreboding, scary man. As the story tracks various people, we begin to realize that the two figures exemplify basic forces of good and evil, and the stage is set for a final confrontation between the representatives of each.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsMp2pZK-Cw

This series was pretty good but, I didn't think the inclusion of the mystical old woman or the even darker figure of Randall flag was necessary to the overall plot, that's why a full point has been taken off it. It should have stuck to the plague and the aftermath and it could have been an even better watch than what it was, plenty of encounters between good and bad people would have fleshed this series out naturally. This is Stephen King we're talking about though and, he does like his horror themes. He wasn't at his best with this but he didn't have to be to create a world ending plague pandemic, it's probably still better than what Hollywood could come up with these days and it was made over 30 years ago.

There were some contestants that I would have loved to shoot as they were a pain in the proverbial backside, thankfully none of them won the game.
Making alliances in the game is bloody stupid as you're only putting a target on your back in the later rounds and, the other players are going to rip those alliances to shreds, be warned. I only watched a few episodes, but I got the distinct impression that the scriptwriters were playing the viewers/audience for "mugs", and their approach was "make it up as you go along". Milk the storyline for every penny you can get.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6zbdYNg9Rs

It's watchable TV for a change, the only thing that bothers me is, any and all crimes are solved in just one episode, I'm thinking they should demote half the detectives as they are just water carriers, you know what I mean, gophers, go for this and go for that, someone has to do the mundane legwork don't they?. Morgan puts her brain power to work and it helps to put a correct crime scene together, with abilities like that on the police's side the criminals don't stand a chance.

I'm surprised no one remembers this tv series...... It's English/British/UKish.....the gov't of the day gets overthrown in a military coup. They establish iron control of the media. All dissent is violently suppressed.

It follows the lives of a few key characters, and builds to a satisfying conclusion at series end. If you can get it/DVD do so it's bloody good.

Riots??? The last proper riot was about 30 years ago when a mob of bolshi unionists stormed Parliament House and sacked it. Piss weak scared Security did nothing. We had some affrays during covid, The media always plays a part in stirring things up.

Star Trek: Enterprise (2001 2005)

A century before Captain Kirk's five-year mission, Jonathan Archer captains the United Earth ship Enterprise during the early years of Starfleet, leading up to the Earth-Romulan War and the formation of the Federation. Set in the mid-22nd century, over 100 years before James T. Kirk helmed the famous vessel, this installment of the "Star Trek" franchise is set on the Enterprise NX-01 -- the first Earth starship capable of warp 5 -- and explores the history of the interplanetary upheaval that eventually leads to the formation of the Federation.

Aaah, Star Trek Enterprise, I remember it well, The screenwriters screwed the pooch when they wrote the Xindi wars into this programme. Thankfully they realised just in time what a big mistake it was, but the damage had been done by then and those star trekkers they lost in droves would not return.

Low points.
The Screenwriters
The Xindi

High points
The Andorian, Shran
Hoshi Sato

Ultra high point
T'pol

TV Series Rating 7\10
Hoshi Rating 7\10
T'pol Rating 8\10

It got an impressive 7\10 rating but it could have been much more, I'm going to watch the series again but I'll skip the Xindi nonsense.

I wish they could make a serie where you follow earth development from First contact 2063 and to the day NX 01 take off.

Edit
I meant the development of the society.
