When I first started in my new job, I was so excited about the prospects of taking public transportation... only to find out that my normally 60 minutes commute would be 120+ minutes taking public transportation. In some central areas of DC Public Transportation works well (when there are no strikes) but other major government centers are still devoid of practice transportation. :(
