It is hard to believe, but I just noticed my join date was 2007. That means I've been here for 15 years.

I leave it and come back to it over the years, but subsimming has been a thread in my life since I first discovered Silent Service on PC back in 1985.

Thanks for Subsim, Onkle Neal!

The years flew by. :k_confused:

I was still living in Osnabrück when i found Subsim, that must have been 1999 or 1998. I had questions on Jane's 688i, found the early version of this forum bakc then and was told I should ask Neal Stevens. And I asked "Who is this Neal Stevens and where can I find him?" while already trampling on his lawn. :haha:

Some of us who have 2001 in their avatar may add even one or two years more, if you remember back in the early years there was some server issue and Neal moved data to another server, something technical happened and many people ended up getting a new replacement date for their entry date, and that happened to be this 2001 date some of us unisono show in our avatar. Thats how I recall it at least.

Submarines are still an interest of mine, but not a dominant anymore, I scan some of the subsim forums here, but 99% of the time silently, like it is appropriate for a submariner. If I am active in any sort of social media - GT is probably the candidate to name. Never met any of you personally, but I am used to some of you since long now :) . And over time I learned to not eat everything as hot as it was cooked in here. ;)

After reading Skybirds comment about his story I came to remember that I was a member of subclub from 2001/2 and it was through an invitation from Hitman I became a member here in 2003. I was one of the few who should test SHII in the pacific.

It was first from 2009/10 I became more active here.

I suddenly got this crazy idea.

Create avatar/badge in Bronze, Silver, Gold and platinum

A person who has been a member for 5 years gets an avatar coloured bronze
A person who has been a member for 10 years gets an avatar coloured silver
a.s.o

How this avatar should look like I don't know only that it should be in these colour and with the number 5, 10, 15 and 20 in it.

Well my first thought was a submarine badge in some of the colour and the number on it.

Where should it be placed-Under the information about the member.
and the contribution sign.

Not sure exactly when I joined, noticed I had entered the mystery subsim comp under my actual name (Stephen Wilson) though on the 2000 subsim.com site via pages archived on the Wayback machine. It’s great to be able to have a window into the past, check out the site as it appeared in Sept 2000 at the link below… looks like we were eagerly awaiting the release of SH2 & DC at that point :)

We should also have an avatar badge for "Most typos in a

- posting
- paragraph
- sentence. "

That way I could easily get a triple scoring! :D Because sometimes even I myself can no longer reconstruct what I actually wanted to write. :O: :haha:

Otherwise you were correct. It's isn't in anyway his thread and it's only a mod who can make a statement and then lock it.

This is a international official game and discussion forum-Where you may get a few or many response to your statement.

Yes the Thread is own by it's author but he has no copyright to it.
