Sound like you?
Then you may be a qualified candidate for New York's new Director of Rodent Mitigation.

No mention of a requirement to play the pipes though.

"swashbuckling attititude, crafty humor, and general aura of bad assery"?? Gadzooks! That's what my Gefallen Engel sig is all about;:O: in addition to which, I'm from the Big Apple originally, and have had to do rat mitigation twice...once in my neighbor's house (in the garage drywall eating stored dogfood & a year on SF's Treasure Island guarding the old rodent/raccoon infested PanAm Clipper hanger(hospital set & 3 'copters) https://scontent-sjc3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.6435-9/51438035_969079906618569_3730402671098593280_n.jpg ?stp=cp0_dst-jpg_e15_q65_s320x320&_nc_cat=106&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=da1649&_nc_ohc=4c8bIzKm8HkAX-S_uj9&_nc_ht=scontent-sjc3-1.xx&oh=00_AfCD--A8GDH4KT8bXq5NLWMVCmJShSXOEuI8jWNmxM9UWQ&oe=63B86B5F during the TV filming of 'Trauma' in 2009. The sound of the hundreds of ratclaws stampeding from the ceiling above when entering to use the bathroom at night was dreadful. Moreover, rats love feasting on the set's miles of heavy light/electrical cable, creating fire hazards, and production caterer's meal for 100+ supplies. So much for showbiz. Fear motivates me too; I lost one amigo to Bubonic plague which is still alive in California; the damn quacks had thought it was pneumonia 'till the autopsy proved otherwise....:hmmm:

If the position was in Washington DC, I would lean more toward bipedal rodents.......
I'm from the Big Apple originally
I knew there had to be a reason why I like you. :har:
My point of origin was in Perth Amboy, NJ. :arrgh!:
The only questions left-
Yankees or Mets? "Giants" is optional because you ain't that old. :O:
Sabrett or Hebrew National? Hot dogs are more important than most people think. :hmmm:
Chocolate or strawberry Yoo Hoo?
Best radio station in the world, WABC or WCBS?
:D
Speaking of the Clipper, I found the launching ramp for the old girl on Ford Island (Pearl Harbor) back in the late 80's. :yeah:

My point of origin was in Perth Amboy, NJ. :arrgh!:Bronxville New York was my own forge-spot to Bridgeport Ct mom and Brooklyn NY dad. My first 2 years were in Teeneck, NJ, when we uprooted to Minnesota.
The only questions left-
Yankees or Mets? "Giants" is optional because you ain't that old. :O:Yankees! 'specially as the MVP and AL single-season homerun batting champ just demonstrated loyalty and re-signed with them for $333 million over 9 years!
Sabrett or Hebrew National? Hot dogs are more important than most people think. :hmmm:Hebrew National; my immigrant paternal great-grandmother from Swabia Germany was married in the Brooklyn Temple. How my grandfather and four great aunts were Methodists is a family mystery!
Chocolate or strawberry Yoo Hoo? Chocolate
Best radio station in the world, WABC or WCBS?cannot decide:hmmm:
:D
Speaking of the Clipper, I found the launching ramp for the old girl on Ford Island (Pearl Harbor) back in the late 80's. :yeah::yeah: all the ramps at TI are long gone...and of the three hangers there in 2009 during the year-long production, one, that served as the firestation set, has since been demolished. Only two hangers and the stately Admin. building, used as production/finance offices, are left.

Is that a step up from dogcatcher?
I didn't see that any piping skills were required, because after all they got a big river right there which could easily drown every rat in the five Boroughs.
Maybe NYC doesn't intend on paying the rat catcher after the job is done and just want's to avoid the resulting debt collection efforts, so they are limiting the means that this Swashbuckler may employ.
