View Full Version : Camcorder Playback Anomaly

I store my camcorder videos on an auxiliary hard drive attached to my laptop. Until yesterday they always played fine using Media Player, which I have on the laptop... now they keep jamming up and stopping.
But... if I copy the video file onto an SD card and play from this instead, everything works fine as before - I tried this because I wanted to check whether the files had become corrupted or that Media Player or even the pc was faulty
Is the auxiliary drive maybe wearing out?
Could be the cable from the drive to the laptop, or possibly the laptop was doing a process in the background that was memory intensive.

Thanks, HW3 - gives me something to try (the cable) plus I have Bitdefender which is ALWAYS bloody updating or doing something in the background :)

like most things its a process of elimination, a background process hogging resources is common, I would boot up your laptop in safe mode, is there anything showing up in the task manager ? and are there any start up programs which you don't need to be running ?

HW3 got it with the cable, thanks. I'd forgotten that I'd removed the cable from its usual port in the laptop and plugged it into a USB hub recently - this hub can be temperamental (mouse suddenly stops working etc) so I've plugged the drive cable back into the laptop and it all works fine again - doh!
Thanks, guys :)
Glad you figured it out and got it running good again. :Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:
