no contest at all.
the only part of Crimson Tide is the fact that Ohio-class SSBN's exist. after that, it is all Hollywood fantasy.
it grossed 3x its production costs and THAT is why it was made.:03:

Realism is a very important factor among the characteristics that make us love Das Boot, but ''hollywood fantasy'' isn't something necessary dismissive for a film. They are two different films with different aspects don't criticize the one using the standars of the other. In the that's the differnece between european and american meantlity. So what you say it's like saying: what I don't like in crimson tide is being an american film, das boot by being german is automatically better.
:subsim:
I'm so to say kind of confused.
First time I saw Crimson Tide was in the cinema and after the movie and before the text on who was in it a.s.o an information came up.
This movie is based on a wargame.
It was only at the cinema I saw this text. Haven't seen it since then and I have seen Crimson Tide a few times thereafter.
Could I have remembered wrong or mix it with an another movie ?
Das Boot is the best movie when it comes to WWII Sea warfare movies
While Crimson Tide is a modern day thriller and it's a good movie.
If I have to pick I would take Das Boot.

no, that is not what i meant.
where and who made the two films is irrelevant.
what i meant to convey is that Crimson Tide has very little of the reality of Das Boot, purposefully.
