Playing game in manual targeting mode.

I have a japanese ship. AOB is around 90 degrees.
I select a ship in the manual, click the little RED mark to send to TDC.

Upper right I select the stadimeter. Wait for hightest mast of ship to be on vertical line of periscope. Click on the button to "take a picture" and I should be able to move mouse up/down and then press the RED button to estimate range.

Problem is : I selected a ship from the manual, sent it to TDC
Stadimeter is not working when I press the button : no shadow image appears on the scope.

WTF ?

I have the crosshairs RIGHT on target. I click the button to "send mast height to TDC" in the recognition manual
Nothing seems to work : upper left on the torpedo settings I should see the ship kind name appear no ?

Have you locked the periscope to the target? I don't remember if that is required.

Click on the button to "take a picture"There's a button to take a picture on the orders bar. The button for the stadimeter is on the periscope tools panel.

Just to be sure we're talking about the same thing.

Lock was required.

Done a whole patrol. shot all torpedoes. All misses.

Using stadimeter on cargo ships gives me speeds like 50 knots or over.

Manual targeting seems hopeless.

do not get discouraged. others have had similar problems.
i use auto-targeting with all my installations.
the way i figure it, as Kaleun, i have trained my attack team in all of the various duties and functions of the attack process so that i do not have to do the entire attack by myself. THAT is auto-targeting. at least from my POV.
Good luck, either way, Herr Kaleun.

I've been checking Youtube to see how people do.
They don't seem to use the stadimeter at all.

They put markers and chronometer 3 minutes to find out the speed.

I'm gonna try that, seems to work much better :salute:

The three minute thing is to determine speed. The stadimeter is used to determine range to target, if I understand correctly. They are separate but both are needed.

I thought this was a good tutorial.
