Over in Palm Bay a little east of where Ian now a CAT1 hurricane is located. It’s expected to be a Tropical Storm between now (12:20 am est) and by the time it moves into the Atlantic and points North.

Media over here depict it as having been a real big one. Is any bord member living there affected? Everyone alright...? :k_confused:

A good friend of mine who quarterbacked our football team in High School lives in Orlando and runs his own business there. Although spared the full onslaught of the hurricane's fury, there is extensive flooding and power is out is out in his area. The Hurricane went right over him but had weak-ed by then, to a certain degree. I spoke with his mum Tuesday and she hasn't heard from him-yet.

Other friends live in Florida and waiting on word for how well they are doing, as well.

/\ likewise here; old Minnesota retirees, college buddies, and my real estate appraiser-associate (12 years) and his wife (my wife's legal secretary) all live in Sarasota which has been clobbered. No word yet; as all I get on my phone is: "all circuits are busy"...I'm appalled at all the marinas that are destroyed along with all their boats.https://images.foxweather.com/static.foxweather.com/www.foxweather.com/content/uploads/2022/09/668/376/GettyImages-1243594320.jpg?ve=1&tl=1https://www.newsobserver.com/latest-news/f9tmll/picture266613001/alternates/FREE_1140/TropicalWeatherFlorida%20(4).JPG

^ The Marinas and boats in the general area where the hurricane made landfall would be the first things to be destroyed, even before the hurricane came in. I hope everyone in the affected areas are doing ok.

Being on the eastern side of Florida other then strong winds, a lot of rain and a few tornado's nothing else really happened. One of said tornado's hit the Kings Point area on Tuesday night which is where one of my co-workers lives and he showed me some pictures of cars that been tossed around like toys and another one hit the parking lot of the store where I work on Wednesday morning. Luckily it happened early enough in the morning that there were not may people out and about yet. It took down some of the trees and branches and a couple of the handicapped parking signs. One of them had been pulled clean out of the ground and the other was bent over like it was a wet noodle. On Wednesday morning when I was driving to work I saw one of the outer bands as it moved south-east to north-west. That was the first and only time I've ever seen a part of a hurricane.

Finally got my electricity back today after four days. Ian was less of an event in the middle of Florida where I am than Irma was in 2017.

Overall, not as bad as a normal day in the Holy Loch. :D
