Thea shes of the late trailblazing "Star Trek" actor Nichelle Nichols will take flight when they are released into space from a Vulcan Centaur rocket by United Launch Alliance later this year.

Among the remains also aboard the flight will be the ashes of "Star Trek" creator Gene Roddenberry; his wife, Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, who played various roles in the show and films; and James Doohan, who played Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the films and TVseries.

This will be the third time Roddenberry's ashes were put in to space.... Gotta love those reruns.

It is not too late to get a reservation. They start at $12,500.... evidently that's for a one way ticket. :)

They ought to save the ashes of each member of the original cast then once the last one dies shoot them all into space in a miniature Enterprise shaped space urn, set on a course to go where no man has gone before. People would be talking about it's progress for decades like they do the Voyagers.
