Have you ever had the (severe) weather ever score a kill? I was shadowing a convoy in very rough seas so I was holding off on my attack, and one of the tramp steamers in the convoy somehow took damage and slowly slipped behind the rest of the convoy and then sank! I never touched it!
I have seen escorts damage themselves with depth charges, but seeing the weather rack up tonnage is a new one for me!

Sadly, many here have seen the that very thing. It is worse in stock SH3. I cannot speak for other big mods, but when while building GWX we modified the ships physical properties and behavior which mitigate the storm sinkings bug quite a bit, but periodically you still see it happen.
As to the DD's harming themselves with their own DC's this factor was virtually eliminated in GWX via a combination of means. Fifi has engineered NYGM to mitigate (If not eliminate) the same factor as well.
Any mod that replaces any of the ships in question, or modifies their physics, very likely re-introduce those bugs.

Just using GWX since I picked the game back up a week ago or so. Playing today is when I saw the storm claim a merchie.
Many moons ago (pre GWX days) is when I often saw the depth charge suicide; haven't seen that recently.
The folks who put in blood sweat and tears to bring us GWX deserve lots of thanks!
