Yup, the infamous F-104G "Starfighter" - here as the Marineflieger-version. The Widowmaker, the Flying Coffin. The Luftwaffe and the Marine lost a total of 292 Starfighters out of 916 procured, with 116 pilots killed from 1961 to 1989.

I've checked the protected cruisers' names, classes, individual ships against these classes, nationality of shipbuilders, dates of commission (to eliminate all not built before the battle) plus of course all the photos - I'm just missing something completely :timeout:

...well at least I've led Eich to the 'promised battle' and know more about 'protected cruisers' than I care to....:woot::damn::x ...was it in Squadron 1?

It was :yep:

Yeah! I'm not a pickpocket after all! No goodness on my part as i kept looking at vessels of Squadron 1 ...not Squadron 3??!!:yep::smug::hmph::()1::|\\:sunny: During the crucial Battle of Tsushima on 27 May 1905, Otowa was assigned to the 3rd squadron :nope:of the IJN 2nd Fleet, and saw combat against the Imperial RussianNavy cruisers Oleg, Aurora and Zhemchug. During the first day of battle, she did not take any damage. On 28 May 1905, Otowa and Niitaka intercepted the cruiser Svetlana which had been heavily damaged the day before and was attempting to escape towards Korea together with a destroyer. Otowa was hit by Svetlana's stern guns, killing one officer and four sailors, and injuring 23 others before the Russian cruiser sank. Later that day, at 1600 hours Otowa participated in the final combat of the battle by engaging the cruiser Dmitrii Donskoi, during which time she was hit again, injuring two sailors.https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c4/IJN_Otowa_in_1905.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_cruiser_Otowa#:~:text=Otowa%20(%E9%9F%B3% E7%BE%BD)%20was%20a%20protected,Yokosuka%20Naval%2 0Arsenal%20in%20Japan.

I left that one alone because I didn't expect it to have been in the battle - it was only commissioned in 1904
