Both "I'm the one that" and "I'm the one who" are grammatically correct, but "I'm the one who" is generally preferred, especially when referring to people, as "who" is specifically used for people. :Kaleun_Goofy:
Here's a more detailed explanation:
"Who" vs. "That":
"Who" is a relative pronoun used to refer to people, while "that" can be used for people, animals, groups, or things.
"I'm the one who":
This sentence is a more formal and precise way to express that you are the person being referred to.
"I'm the one that":
While grammatically correct, it might sound slightly less formal and less precise than using "who" when referring to people. :arrgh!::hmph::smug:
Ostfriese
03-07-25, 02:06 PM
I've been taught that the relative pronoun "that" can be used for people and things, but shouldn't be used if the person has already been named, as it can be impolite. "who" is for people and anmials that have a name (like pets), "which" is for things.

Sorry, this one escaped my attention :D
This is a little difficult to answer, because "famous" is relative. The ship in question is not as widely known as Bismarck, HMS Hood or USS Enterprise, so someone who never put much interest into the naval side of WW2 will not know it, but you don't need to study WW2 history for decades to come across the name, either, so I'd say that you folks in this thread should have heard or read about the ship.

Yes. Build in Europe, HNLMS De Ruyter was transferred to the Dutch East Indies before the outbreak of the war and spend her entire career in the Pacific. She was sunk in the second battle of the Java Sea in the wee hours of Feb 28th, 1942. Her wreck was found in 2002, but by 2016 her wreck had disappeared, very likely because of illegal scavenging.

I'll be back later - got to go out. I have to admit I gave Moira a shot at this (she didn't see the picture, mind) telling her that this slimy stuff that looked like peanut butter had something to to do with baby sharks being born. She said straight away "mermaids purse" (she once picked one up on Hastings beach)
You don't want to go picking stuff up on our beaches this week though :haha:
I hope this wasn't cheating? :D
Jimbuna

In our case tis an offer to move into my lads first house right on the coast overlooking the mouth of the Tyne and the beach.
The downside being it is only two bedroomed but I'd still have a computer room.
