.:hmmm:....it would be fun to use the DNA from that to determine who Hitler's real grandfather was. He was always worried he might be Jewish from his housekeeper-grandmother's employer? His antisemite father, Alois, who had changed his name from Shicklgruber to Hitler; and researched the issue himself through Graz church records, abused the young Adolph severely in childhood...??...Can you imagine anyone clicking their heels, raising their arm and bellowing: "Heil Shicklgruber"!??...on such minor details, history turns...most of it bad??!

Other than it looks today, the original walls were painted in a way to look like bricks, this is how it is supposed to have looked like:
https://i.postimg.cc/XqfhGsdH/riddle.jpg (https://postimages.org/)
Rome was not able to conquer the whole area of Germany, and after some lost battles they decided it was not worth the hazzle and erected a wall that went all through Germany, existing for 180 years without really working like planned. Instead of holding back the german tribes it was the center of constant attacks, battles and defeats on both sides.
Anyway at the beginning of the 19th century some german archeologists excavated roman ruins and began to find out about the history of romans and their great wall they called 'Limes' in Germany. Short to 1900 another archeologist excavated the "Saalburg" near Bad Homburg and proposed to Kaiser William 2nd to reconstruct it around 1910.
