Thank God for that - I had seen Royal Charter given as a Sunderland job too, I'm sure - that yard was what I'd focused on at the end there. Anyway...

Dang! In tediously looking at the 4 shipyards directly(#'s 11-14 on the Wear River shipyards map) "on the east coast" as Jimbuna put it, JL Thompson, Sunderland Co Ltd., Osbourne Graham, Bartram & Sons, I took a long look at Duncan Dunbar's(short career-span) unique yellow stripe but was thrown off by the false gun ports not matching Jimbuna's original (somewhat blurry) puzzle...it also didn't help that I misread a clue and was looking for a barque-rigged clipper not a full-rig one... nice one Eich! I'm returning to my genie lantern now. :wah:

Eichhörnchen

@ Vinny: both - depending on circumstances, although it was not originally for recreational use.

Clue 1: This is a small but vital part of a much larger item - but I'm not looking for the larger item, just this part of it

Clue 2: My photos have greatly magnified it - it's actually only one quarter of the size shown here

Rifle sight?

Eichhörnchen
01-06-25, 09:30 AM
Correct - the "leaf sight" of the Lee Enfield .303 no4 rifle; it flips up for target shooting then down to raise the battle sight for combat. I was rated an Army Cadet marksman with this & my red badge is shown here - the one topped by a crown

Reinstate my post if you will please. I'm not sure why I can't see my own picture, holding my civil war Enfield with similar gunsight, from my own :subsim: album on my end?? I've posted it before with no problems...:hmmm:

Sorted but I suspect you may have copied a faulty link but if you click on it then should be viewable.

I can post your image of the pic using 'copy image link' but cannot transfer it from my own :subsim: album apparently....:k_confused: Looking up "what happened to the 'copy image link' " function I've used for 11 years, I'm not the only one with this issue. I'm still on WIN 10; Most of the posters with the copy image link problem had upgraded to WIN 11....
