Nope and it has an ä in it's name

The only one that quickly comes to mind is the Panzerjäger, but that one was built on the Panzer I chassis, and I'd say the wheel in the picture doesn't even look closely to that.
Edit: Brummbär also has an ä, but they were built on the Panzer IV chassis, and it doesn't look like that one either.

Aktungbby
09-17-23, 11:29 PM
well you're certainly doing yer homework. It has a panzer turret. Now study 'big bang theory'...:hmmm:

Catfish
09-18-23, 03:20 PM
Not the 'Mäuschen' :hmmm:
Was there even built one? The only one I know that was really built was called Maus, so without an "Ä". Even there only was a field test version without gun..

Aktungbby
09-18-23, 05:42 PM

Ostfriese
09-22-23, 12:22 AM
If that's about the TV-series: never watched it.

I'm at a loss here. The "ä" you want limits it to very few languages, German, Finnish and Swedish alongside a few post-soviet nations in Central Asia.

I've found nothing that fits all of your requirements.

Aktungbby
09-22-23, 12:48 AM
all right I'll throw you a bone since you're the only one left.:D It's German, not on treads and doesn't have a main gun...and has a single specific defensive purpose...seriously related to 'big bang theory'; but not related to the tv show in any way.:yeah: I'd mention how many wheels it has; but that would give away the puzzle. Its crew consisted of a driver and a commander.

Ostfriese
09-22-23, 01:31 AM
Hmm, if I'm right here you are to be commended for having dug very deeply:

Alkett Minenräumer? A 100+ metric ton tricycle, of which only one prototype was ever built?

Aktungbby
09-22-23, 02:02 AM
thats it! The NK-101 minenräumer.:Kaleun_Salute: Too slow and susceptible to artillary it was found abandoned in russia and is in a museum there to this day. The 10 plates circumfrensing its 3 tricycle wheels, two front, one rear each would explode mines as the bottom three plates briefly formed to absorb the mine's explosive force. Over to birthday boy, Ostfriese-thanks for your persistence!:salute:https://i0.wp.com/www.destinationsjourney.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/alkett-vskfz-617-nk-101-side.jpg?w=1232&ssl=1 https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-6vTOU1Akksc/WmSt1eVf88I/AAAAAAAA0E4/cJJvPfqRzZcq7wzTZLfUwbpljZQ5YtAFQCLcBGAs/s640/Minenraumer%2Bside%2Bfront%2B.jpg http://panzerserra.blogspot.com/2018/03/schwere-minenraumer-alkett-vskfz-617-nk.html Each wheel was equipped with steel "feet" fixed in a floating position so that three of them leaned on the ground in any position of the wheel - in order to create the maximum area of contact with the ground, which was better to dissipate the blast wave from mines triggered by the weight of the machine . An additional advantage was the reduction of the trawler's pressure on the ground, because it had a weight of 50 tons. Theoretically, she could withstand the explosion of any mine. https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-vCxVYYpYYLY/Wp6B33dK9_I/AAAAAAAA06U/2ZDDAkL4ZTA6eh7YbztCWw5UiZ5f4dvQwCLcBGAs/s640/Minenraumer%2Bspecs.jpg https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Klu4gkS3eWM/WqVdyXlN0LI/AAAAAAAA0_8/XQejeg_gdCY90QDm6q3Dw-DVBgWM4fvyACEwYBhgL/s640/climbing.jpgand the 'competion, Mine exploders; Schwere Minenräumer Alkett VsKfz 617,

https://i.imgur.com/wnidRP5l.jpg

Also called volcano snail or scaly-foot gastropod, Chrysomallon squamiferum lives at a depth of 2400 to 2900 meters at some points along the geotectonic rift in the indian ocean, near hydothermal wells also called "black smokers", in temperatures up to 750 degrees Fahrenheit or 399 degrees Celsius.

There is iron embedded in its housing as in those scales you can see on the photos. You can pick it up with a magnet.
It's shell is so tough that some engineers think about military armour based on the material.

"The volcano snail could go extinct if conservation efforts are not made for it with the onset of seabed mining and exploration. Its habitats are on the verge of being destroyed by human activity."

ancient pangolin armor?

Good idea but no. Not a pangolin, also it is recent/extant/(contemporary?)
Probably existent since a long time, but no one really knows yet.I protest!:Kaleun_Mad: your 'correct' answer to my above quote should have been: " you're half-right; stay on the (sulpherous) scent and perhaps we'll 'sea' U at the finish"...:shucks: Actually, this puzzle was driving me nuts-I'd seen this particular picture before but couldn't place it; my Aricept tablets are past their expiration date!:timeout::oops: Congrats to Jimbo!:salute:

A Hispano-Suiza engine?

Aktungbby
10-17-23, 02:20 AM
My sources indicate it was a British Admiralty requested naval Sunbeam 110 hp engine desired by the Navy for its purposes. Only one was built. It was equipped with a .303 front firing machine gun.

Aktungbby
10-19-23, 01:52 PM
Big hint: it never flew and was deemed a failure for its intended purpose: there is even a 1/72 scale model of it: https://www.subsim.com/radioroom/picture.php?pictureid=13319&albumid=815&dl=1697741451&thumb=1< practically a dead giveaway!:shucks:

Berwick & Company in London; the first Sizaire-Berwick had been made. but you nailed it!:Kaleun_Salute: well done! https://i0.wp.com/www.escuderia.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/sizaire-berwick-blindado-1915-worst-weapons-0.jpg?fit=800%2C419&ssl=1 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52669098943_a3a24f82f3_b.jpg over 2 U
