I would assign "sea-going" to some ship, but yes the thing it belongs to is something living in the sea.
You little ol' geologist, you... why this is mineral in nature (?)
No, it is organic.
To make things a bit more clear the original is "organic" (though "the proportion of mineral and organic phases is an evolutionarily adjustable continuum, and nature undoubtedly possesses examples for every step between all mineral and all organic"), the thing in the picture is an artificial copy.
To mention the original it belongs to, is of course enough.

Indeed it did most probaby not exist in its today's living form geological ages ago (and nothing has been found). But relatives or better predecessors of this species did, and you can find a lot of their (extinct) fossil rests.

Giant squid (Architeuthis dux)
Markus
YES!

This is the beak of Architheutis dux:
"The parrot-like beak of the giant squid, strong enough to bite through steel cable, is used to cut prey into small pieces. Unlike the octopus, whose arms have simple suckers, the arms and tentacles of the giant squid are equipped with hooks and sharp sucker rings."

https://i.imgur.com/Y53lTtTm.jpg

The only hard part that is left of the elaborate sculpted ammonites and belemnites, being reduced over millions of years during evolution.

Some other depictions:

https://i.imgur.com/rkqbjMll.jpg

https://i.imgur.com/8l8v0jUl.jpg

Some time before it was thought that the architheutis was hunting sperm whales, but it was found it is the other way round.
Those squids are hunters, but the sperm whale specialised on hunting them.

"Before whales evolved, it could be that giant squids lived near the ocean surface. After whales evolved and discovered that squids are tasty, the giant squids might have started living in deeper water, to escape the whale predators. Some whales might have started diving more deeply (and developed specialized physiology allowing them to hold their breath up to 90 minutes and to resist the great pressure at depth) so they could feast on the squid, so the squid might have responded by living deeper still. Cycles like this, between predators and prey, are examples of co-evolution."

https://i.imgur.com/MSbeK2xl.jpg

Sperm whales have typical wounds from the sharp hooks of the tentacles of those deep sea sqids and their beaks, but usually the whale is the winner.

Architheutis is seldomly seen alive, when it reaches the upper layers of seawater it is usually dead, or dying (due to the missing pressure of the deep seas). Recent studies show that sperm whales and giant squids like Architheutis are being confused by underwater sounds emitted by submarines and subsea oil operations, whence the beaching of whales and increased sightings of dead squids at the oceans' surfaces.

Jim sure showed the right direction, but the octopus (sometimes called "Kraken") has eight arms without hooks or claws, while the sqids or kalmars have ten (being decapoda rather than octopoda) – two of them are longer and have special tasks of catching prey and drawing ot to the other arms, and the beak.

OT, Physeter macrocephalus ("sperm whale") has its head filled with a special substance to amplify and record a 3-dimensional picture of its surroundings by emitting a 200 db clicking sound that is being echoed and processed. It uses active sonar to hunt those giant squids.

How??

Obviously down to his crystal balls :)

Ostfriese

Well, building Lego (and other companies' bricks, there are better and cheaper brands out there) is one of my main hobbies, and I own a decent collection of sets (however, none of them is that old, my parents gave away all my childhood legos a long time ago, after I had moved out). The first picture gave the bricks away (there's a small but distinctive line between the red bricks of the chair), but the true giveaway was the part of the TV set.

The set number and the year I simply took from the database link I provided.

Anyway, a new riddle:

Who is this?

Bonus points if you can tell me who he's talking to.

No, but I laughed :D

"Ostfriese" by the way is the German word for "East Frisian", a person from Eastern Frisia, a region in the very northwest of Germany where I lived for a few years. More than two decades ago, actually...

"According to senior figures at Miles, the design and the research gained from the M.52 was shared with the American company Bell Aircraft, and that this was applied to their own Bell X-1, a ground-breaking high-speed experimental aircraft which broke the sound barrier."

Results were also used in designing and building the English Electric/BAC Lightning.
