When I load Silent Hunter 4 there is a quick mission - FBM 420610 Yamato’s Destiny 1942 - in which the Japanese Battleship is the target. When I run the missions the game crashes when the Yamato is suppose to appear. Do I need to download a playable Yamato? What am doing wrong?

What is your game set-up Ham920? In other words, what mods do you have added to the game? The "FBM 420610 Yamato’s Destiny 1942" is not a Stock game file, so it is kind of important to know what you have activated on top of your game install. Also, of almost equal importance, is what folder do you have Silent Hunter 4 installed in? If you are in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft ..." or similar (suich as Steam), then a mod will not activate correctly there. You would need to have the game installed in a folder you create yourself, such as "C:\Games \Silent Hunter..." or similar. This can be a difficult process if you have the Steam game, and much else "Steam" installed. Hand-in-hand with that is the possibility that you might have to empty the Save game folder, which defaults to "C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH4..." Let us know your config, and someone can help. :salute:

My error, I thought this mission was one of the stock missions. I reinstalled the game as you suggested in the Program folder instead of the Program (x86) and created a new Silent Hunter 4 folder. I’ll install some of the missions with the Yamato and see if they work. Thanks for your advise, I’ll get back to you if I still have a problem.

My strongly recommended suggestion is... NEVER, EVER install 'any' game in either of C":'s 'Program files'...

This is Win's watchdawg 'UAC's' iron fisted Darth Vader-Vulcan-King Kong death grip controlled terror-tory... & it don't like your tampering about in its domain... even if you tell it you want to & to give you access to do so.

Which, if you're adding in mods or editing/altering files in a game, then by its definition, that's tampering & IT (UAC) will end up reverting things back to what they were before... or 1/2 arsing it, at that & that... will result in weird things happening, if not causing the game/s to flat out, flat line... aka 'CTDville' here you come... :yep:
