Sean mentioned the thread above. Jeff Groves has numerous air rifles and collects and shoots them often, as I understand it. You should speak with him, Blackswan as I'm sure you both have a lot in common. There is probably no one here that knows more than Jeff on air rifles. :yep:

I've heard good stuff about the BSA line but never actually shot one myself.
I read that one is good with slugs also!
By slugs I mean bullet shaped projectiles. There's some Air Rifles that shoot them great and some that just don't like them!
Most that don't like them are usually choked barrel types. One can cut the choke off then re-crown the barrel for better results.
I'd suggest JSB Pellets as the best choice to start with. Not all guns 'like' the same ammo. One BSA may love cheaper pellets while the same model may prefer a different brand.
So test different ammo to find the one YOUR Rifle likes!
I'd suggest 200 rounds of cheap ammo through the barrel before you start going for accuracy! And DO NOT clean the barrel! Air rifles like to get a coating of lead before they get really accurate! I have some with over 2000 shots with no cleaning of the barrel! I only clean when accuracy starts falling.

Sounds like a funny story but I can tell you from experience!
I shoot high powered Air Guns. Up to .50 cal!
Shooting one day with a .30 at a plastic stake out at 45 yards?
I had a couple come back at me and take out a window!
:o
That's 90 yards round trip. If it could break the window?
It could have took out an eye!
So be very careful of WHAT you shoot at! NEVER shoot at Golf Balls!
Those suckers will send a round back at you with almost no loss in velocity!

I agree with you but then again, most responsible people wear eye protection when they go shooting and also hearing protection where appropriate, Unlike Ralphy and his Red Ryder bb gun. :haha:

Ralphie did have glasses on.
Just not ballistic glasses as I doubt they existed back in that portrayed time period.
How to you plan to fill that Air Rifle? It calls for 232 bar. That 3300+ PSI!
Me? I have a compressor that can fill to 4500 PSI.
I gave up hand pumping several years back!
Also didn't check if that BSA is regulated. So you may not want to fill to full pressure if it's not.
Edit:
Resources say it has no regulator but Hill makes one.
Regulating an Air Gun is a whole different story you'd have to be interested in hearing!
I have Regulators in some of my Guns. But not all of them.

Ralphy certainly didn't have ballistic glasses on and what's worse, Black Bart got away. :haha:

^ As a kid, I had a Crossman 760 Variable pumpmaster that was pretty powerful. It was far more powerful than Ralphy's Red Ryder BB gun. I rebuilt it a few times with new rubber o-rings and such. It would shoot 645 fps with BBs.
Later, I preferred my " Wrist Rocket " slingshots with aftermarket tubing. Those slingshots were dangerous.:o

I liked the difficulty in mastering on target shooting with the wrist rockets. I still have the Crossman 760 and it needs rebuilt, again.

This is my .50 cal Sniper.
It's not shown with the Silencer I have on it now.
Not regulated and is scary accurate out to over 140 yards!
Scary accurate means I could hit a head shot at that distance.
With the Silencer? You could be 2 yards away and not hear it fire!
It blows holes through stainless steel pans at 140 yards plus!

Sorry Jeff, this is a BB gun thread. I'm terribly sorry but you will have to leave your cannon's at home.:haha:
Jeff-Groves

That BSA is not a BB gun!
In .177 cal (Which is the size of BB's) it's just as capable of killing a person as a powder burner!
Thus the reports you read about Air Guns killing someone.
To treat an Air Rifle as anything different from a powder burner is insane!
It's a Gun. It can and will kill if not respect as a deadly weapon.
My .50 is setup and designed for one purpose.
Should things go bad and I need to survive? I'm taking someone else's stuff! And they will never hear the shot!
I also have special ammo for it. At 100 yards? Better have the BEST ballistic vest!

And as a side note. I had the chance to go out side yesterday and shoot the .357 and .30 Evanix Rifles after a LONG Winter.
There is nothing like a nice shooting session to really calm your nerves!

Had a HW100 and a QB78 which a friend of mine made custom barrels and internals.
QB78 uses the 12.5g CO2 cartridges before the mod I was getting 6.5ftlb and around 110 shots before having to change the CO2 caplets
After the mod I was down to 45/50 decent shots by pumping out 10.5/11ftlbs
The HW100 I used to charge that with a scuba diving bottle much easier than the stirrup pump.

A TIP.
DO NOT RUN ALL THE AIR OUT OF YOUR GUN!
Not sure how the BSA would handle it but......
All the Guns I have need to be high pressure 'Shocked' if they are run too low on air pressure.
I have a SCUBA tank at 3000 PSI I use to seat the valve with a quick blast of air.

Just noticed the spelling error in the thread title so have edited it from 'Riffles' to 'Rifles'
An off topic comment to Jims post ^
Made a search 'cause it would be interesting to know difference between rifle and riffle
Here is what I found
Since a rifle is a gun and someone might use a gun in a robbery, your Quick and Dirty Tip is to remember that to rifle is to ransack a place while looking for something to steal, and “riffle” is the nicer word that means to flip through or shuffle things
End of an off topic...

My Shooting table is finished due to price of wood going through the roof in limeyville went for a minimalist approach with locking spring loaded hinges just got to apply grey undercoat to the legs then apply grey satin then apply stain and varnish to plywood
