1. Is there a mod that gives clean optics to the periscope view? There are smears and sometimes, especially when it's dark, it's hard to tell if it's a smear, smoke on the horizon, or a dirty computer screen.

2. Is there any way to turn off notifications when leaving port? All the sound and "ship spotted" reports make leaving to go on patrol longer than it needs to be. I already turn off the radar but I can't find a way to turn off the hydrophone station.

Using FOTRSU 1.7.

Thank you.

try moving the highly-skilled sensor crew out of the sensor compartment (attack center?).

another method that i use from time to time is to change the exit point to a location that is a bit further away from the home port. i never leave port from the dock so changing the exit point is a matter of convenience for me.

Thanks. So you're saying remove the watch and the crew in the control room. Did I understand you correctly?
Any mods for clean optics?

move whatever crew are manning the sensors that are detecting the friendlies.
Sonar and Radar are in the Conning Tower or Sensor Room Or Attack Center.
it depends on what mod-set you are playing.
this example is from FOTRSU.

i found it easier to move the departure location away from the port.
another technique i have used is to clear out the US Harbor Traffic file. that kind of activity does nothing for me as i really do not pay attention to it.

as for your second question, i know of no mods to clear the scopes.

...clear out the US Harbor Traffic file
How do I do this?

How do I do this?

browse to \data\campaigns\campaign
make a copy of US_HarborTraffic.mis. (select the file, then ctrl+c then ctrl+v)
edit US_HarborTraffic.mis using a plain text editor such as Notepad.
ctrl+a, then delete, then save.

eh voila.
if you need the original file, revert back to the copy you just made.

That would be another good feature, a command to ignore friendly contacts as a key.

:up: Departing and arriving friendly ports is unnecessarily time consuming and annoying.

Yet... let us, NOT forget that they didn't just warp jump or lightspeed travel outta port, by any stretch of the imagination, either...

so, while it is time consuming & tedious... it is... realistic.

That's just My own standard view point on it... just to be clear. I play with as near as realistic as is possible, given that it is a sim... & short of time jumping back to them... days... is, as close as 1 is going to be able to get, to experiencing that. :shucks:

I find it annoying because it doesn't add anything of value to the gameplay. Sure sailing out of port or returning to your berth might be fun the first few times but after that it becomes a tedious chore for me.
