This could actually be done. You would need to fiddle around with zones.cfg and create an objectremains controller for the whale; it would be complex but perfectly doable.

I have used a similar technique to have sailors jump off ships right before they sink in SH4. :yep:

but... in all seriousness.... would be kinda... cool, to watch a whale get away.

Would think it'd be doable to have it randomized to say... 1 or 2 out of 10 maybe even a 3 outta 10, ratio... but... wouldn't go any higher than... :hmmm: 4 outta 10.

That way, it keeps it random on when you'd see it occur.

I really am thinking about methods to include fishing activities for the trawlers & small boats in SH3/4. Whaling (and whales escaping) could be included; it's just an issue with time - the whole concept is one of the "reach goals" for Wolves of the Kaiser and any WW2 Atlantic mods I do later. The U-Boat HAHD crew was going to include lots of sea life fully animated, and posted beautiful screenshots of animated fish & crabs, but unfortunately I think that mod group has disbanded. :yep:

The whole idea's not entirely out of place; in WW2 a German raider sneaked up on a whaling fleet once and captured the entire group of ships as they were catching whales - including a gigantic whale factory ship. Would make for an interesting U-Boat encounter. :hmmm:

A shame if that group, did disband... would have been grand to have seen what they had in mind & had been working on, released. :hmmm: Ahhh well...

It would be very cool to encounter some shoals of fish, they could be generated exactly the same way as birds are :yep: (but with different "triggers" of course).
I even don't understand why they didn't ever think about that... :doh:
