Charles McGee has died at the age of 102. One of the kindest souls I have had a pleasure to meet.

You are very fortunate to have met him. I would have liked to have met him as well. I saw a documentary on the Tuskegee Airmen and Brig. Gen. Charles McGee was featured. A lot of bomber crews owe their very lives to these gentlemen. They were able to return home because of the efforts of these men. The " Red Tails " did it all.

Another of the group was Dr. Roscoe Brown. Dr. Brown passed away July 2, 2016, at the age of 94.

Another was William Johnson of Glen Cove who passed away at 95.

Lt. Col. Alexander Jefferson is is still alive and was featured in the documentary as well. Alexander Jefferson celebrated his 100th birthday in 2021.

Rest in peace gentlemen and thank you for your valor, courage and skill. :Kaleun_Salute:

He was a soft spoken man. We spoke for a good 10 minutes. He flew them all. He said his favorite is the P-51. I purchased his book and he signed it for me.

I'm hardly surprised as all the " Redtails " interviewed in the documentary came across as complete gentlemen. The guys seemed composed, intelligent, humble and somewhat subdued as to their contributions as fighter pilots and their missions escorting bombers in WW2.

General McGee as well as the other was very soft spoken in the documentary, as you said when you met him. Lt. Col. Alexander Jefferson was also soft spoken but also very animated. The documentary was great and I will look for it and post it here if I can find it so if anyone is interested, they can view and enjoy it as well.

These are two of the documentaries that I saw but not the one I had in mind. It does have subtitles but unfortunately, they are not in German. I hope you can maybe do a search there now that you have the documentary, Catfish. It's my hope you can find it there with German subtitles. Charles McGee is in it so I know AVGWarhawk will like it.

~ Enjoy~

I always admired the Tuskegee Airmen. I never thought I would be able to meet one in person. This day was truly a surprise!
