Today the Google screen has shrunk on both sides (horizontal only) to about half the screen size. :k_confused:
Is anyone else having this issue? Is there a fix? :hmmm:

Edit: This may be an XP issue!!

Thanks I think!! :k_confused:

I am trying Yahoo, seems to be working ok but would prefer Google.

I probably should get another computer but being a pensioner it's a little hard on funds. Would upgrade to Win 7 but that is being phased out and 90% of my games/programs will only run on XP. I did install Win 7 once but none of my old software worked so I restored to an old backup of XP.

I feel your pain.

I still have an XP install disk around here somewhere. I also have an unopened Windows 7 disk because when I ordered my new laptop, the only option was Win 10. My original plan was to install 7 on the laptop and use ClassicShell (http://www.classicshell.net/) to make it look and act as much like XP as possible.

But, I found out that I could still use ClassicShell with Win 10. So now, I am using a sort of hybrid Win 10/7/XP UI.

I still use some DOS programs with the help of DOSBox, but eventually I had to come to the realization that some programs I love I will never see again - barring some expensive and questionably worthwhile Herculean effort.

Yes I paid a lot of money for software like Wavelab, great program but only runs on XP. :wah:

Don't know if this will help –

1. Install the program you want, if this works you have already 'won'. Right-click on the program's icon and select compatibility, you can then run this program eg. in Win XP, Vista or Win 7 compatibility mode. You can try and fiddle with the settings, it often works.

2. If you have Win 7 pro or Win 10 pro (no idea about Win 8, i avoided this)
you can install a free virtual machine (vm) with the OS of your liking, "Hyper-V" as the virtual machine is being called in the Windows world can be used to install native Dos, XP or whatever.
In Win 7 there is even a free Win XP included to use in Hyper-V if i remember right.

This usually works, if you need certain resolutions or memory or adapters for this machine you can adjust this in the Hyper-V settings, it will emulate it and this works in most cases.

Explaining how to do this with Win 10:

Thanks Catfish, I did try Win 7 Pro 32 bit in various compatibility modes but no go, it has problems with serial ports and background programs running in these various modes, anyway I'm 70 this year and lack enthusiasm!!
At least Yahoo and Bing run ok and they are not bad, can live with the various side effects.:yep:
Again thanks.

The newer versions run on Win 10 and upgrades from previous versions are about $200.00

I think all my games were made for XP and earlier, although many will run on Win10, so my (offline) gaming rig is XP. There's always been more than enough to keep me happy from the heyday of disc gaming

Can't you set up a partition(or what they call it) So when you start the computer it will ask which OS you wanna use-XP or WIN7.

Did you put your monitor in cold water? That'll cause shrinkage.:Kaleun_Thumbs_Up:
