Sad news. He was an icon.

Rest in peace, John.

From Bleacher Report

According to the Pro Football Hall of Fame's website (https://www.profootballhof.com/players/john-madden/), his .759 regular-season winning percentage is the highest for any coach with at least 100 career victories. That is even more remarkable when considering the fact he was the youngest head coach in the American Football League when he was hired at 32 years old.

I remember watching many football games with John Madden and Pat Summerall announcing the games. Pat Summerall balanced out the announcing with professionalism while John Madden could barely contain his enthusiasm for the game. Being a former player and coach, John madden knew football and always gave the viewers the benefit of his knowledge.

Rest in Peace.

Not always the best advice though:

John Madden with 1:37 left of regular play in Superbowl XXXVI:

“With no timeouts, I think that the Patriots, with this field position, you have to just run the clock out,” Madden said. “You have to play for overtime now. I don't think you want to force anything here. You don't want to do anything stupid because you have no timeouts and you're backed up.”

He did change his tune though once the Pats made it into Rams territory:

“This is amazing,” Madden said. “This is something, and I will admit as a coach and as an analyst, I don’t think they should have done. But they had the guts, they have a young quarterback and they did it. They were backed up inside their own 20-yard line and had no timeouts left. They're calling these plays, and not only calling these plays but making these plays. At some point, when you’re in the Super Bowl, you have to let it all hang out, and I’ll say this -- Charlie Weis and this Patriots team, they are letting it all hang out.”

^ He wasn't always right but then, who is ? John Madden was entertaining though and made football games fun to watch while he and Pat Summerall did the announcing. John Madden is / was a lot more knowledgeable and fun to listen to than former Quarterback Tony Romo who appears to have a bias against a number of players..

So what happens to Madden football Games now?
Maybe a cross between The Walking Dead and Madden NFL?
So you could have players that died long ago but still have their skills?
:hmmm:

If they do that? It was MY IDEA and I want my cut!
