How do you all get to your search area? I mean, in real life it could take days for a sub to get to their area. In the game I don't want to watch my screen for an hour while my sub does nothing but sail.

So leaving port, I use time compression to leave port, move quite fast, traveling at full speed, on the surface. At what point should I start slowing down, recharging batteries, stay submerged during the day etc.?

Related question, how long do you play at one time? Given some time patrolling, then closing on a contact, attacking, counter attack etc., is an hour enough time? Or two?

I know I can spend as much time as I want, but need some idea of minimum times

Full speed to the patrol area burns a lot of precious fuel you need to overtake convoys.

Pressing the ‘M’ key sets your engines to the efficient speed so as to not burn fuel.

The idea of reserving fuel is so you can stalk a convoy, attack it, then overtake (full/flank speed) and attack again.

My M key brings up the map. Looking at the keyboard layout when help is pressed, I don't see a key that does that. Could it be a mod.

rapheal21 -- I hear you and it real life I totally agree, but in a simulation game I'm not too sure. Being on a sub was not alot of fun. No sense playing a game if you're not enjoying it.

Do you have wolves of steel? I have an old version so maybe they changed it.

I do have some mods. Screen says half speed is the most efficient.

Then stick with that. I know it takes awhile to get to your zone, but that is the way to play. You will have more resources to make good kills! Good luck!
