It has its benefits. For bicycles, the infrastructure is very good, there is more traffic done in Münster on bike than by car and public traffic. Over 40%.

The natural surrounding is flat, and again has very good bicycle infrastructure, for biking it is ideal territory. But its all a bit flat and lacks a bit of change. More interesting and idyllic is the Teutoburgerwald region to its North-East (Osnabrücker Lasnd, Tecklenburger Land). But that is hilly, and not ideal for bicycle tours - if you have no inbuild support wind (e-bike). :D

Its a commercial hotspot in the region, an administrative regional centre, fiscally its better off than most districts in Northrhine Westphalia, and its very popular with Dutch tourists and shoppers, on some days it seems the invaders have taken over the city :) . Us Huns take revenge by attacking Enschede in return. :D By car the border is I think half an hour away. The weekly market in Münster at the central cathedral is huge, and famous beyond the region - and thus very crowded.


In general Münster is famous for its bicycle culture, horses (together with the nearby small town of Warendorf it is the Olympic center for equestrian sports and Germany's world-famous and extremely successful dressage team), and fertile farming grounds (what continues northwards). The climate is such that it trains horse's immune system and stamina. givkij ng them a robust health, thats why horses from this region are in high demand for horse breeding, nationally and internationally.

By city, I prefer Münster. By landscape and surroundings, I prefer Osnabrück. My real love lies in Lübeck. I did quite some tour videos between Münster and Osnabrück, it takes me all day long on such tours, 8-10 hours, 130-150 km, since I drive no race, and spend time in Osnabrück, too.

When was that? The train station has been completely demolished and replaced with a completely new built that was opened just I think four years years ago.

Could I have remembered wrong ?? It was in 2005. I had a 3-4 hours waiting in some town near the Dutch border.

I do remember the stairs down and this long hallway.

The tunnels and stairs to the tracks were refurbished, they were not located inside the main building, but so to speak in the "backyard". The looks have changed there, too, but the substance of the construction there was not destroyed, so you may have recognised the form and arrangement. But the surfaces you saw in 2005 all have been replaced meanwhile, that is all new for sure.

The new station opened in summer 2017. Its fine.

Wow, what a city, certainly a lot of churches (BIG). Amazing how well a lot of the buildings including the churches have survived the war, I dare say it was one of the cities that didn't get bombed much.

This damned coronavirus has changed a lot of our life style for the worse, traveling just one example, the wife and I have our Pfizer shots booked in October.:up:

Quite the opposite.Practically every house was bombed out and a hollow shell. Much of the old facades you saw were just that, facades, with the house behind having been completely rebuild. It looks old, but isnt. The churches burnt, but as structures survived. That indeed was a miracle. Some of them are still not cleaned and are black with the smoke from the fires.
