Which silent hunter version should i get?

Hi,


Looking to get silent hunter 4, i see 2 versions on steam and 1 version on ubiconnect.



Any suggestions on which to get?


Also, and this probably ties in with question 1, which mega mods are there. Looking for 1 mega mod to use, similar to gwx in sh3. no other modding planned. Used to be TMO and i think Fall of the rising sun but there a few more these days.



Also, have windows 10, not sure if that changes answer to which version.

Just to add on the mod, looking for historical accuracy so seems TMO and FOTRS are the two ones to get. Any preference on one vs the other?

From what I understand none of the mods work with the base game Steam sells as its version 1.3 so you also need the expansion which upgrades the game to 1.5 then you can use mods.

Or you can just buy it from Ubisoft, its both together and only 10 bucks, 2.50 on sale.

I picked it up on Ubisoft for $2.50 then installed the FOTRSU megamod.

Yup, was just about to buy the version on ubisoft for $2.50. Just wanted to make sure the ubisoft gold version was 1.5. Heading to checkout now and i'll download FOTRS.

To properly be able to use, need to make sure the version of SH4 you grab is... ''Silent Hunter IV: Wolves of the Pacific Uboat Missions'', which is tagged as v1.5, & that's on Steam if you grab it there.

Ubisoft, just has (the last I checked, that is..) SH4: Gold (which is ''Silent Hunter IV: Wolves of the Pacific Uboat Missions'' v1.5)

Can confirm SH4 plays on Win 10... just ensure to NOT install in either location:

C:\Program files

or

C:\Program files (x86)

Windows, does not like tampering with any files or programs in their iron clawed grasp... that includes games most notably, especially where it pertains to using mods... :yep:

This also applies to game launchers, as well. best to install in a user created folder in C:which, you can name whatever you need, such as...

C:\Games\Ubisoft

then install accordingly.

Also make sure to use either a 4GB patch or Large Address Aware to tell your computer, to assign the games .exe more than 2 GB's of RAM.

ah, thx for the 4GB patch advice. I wasn't aware i needed that for sh4. I used it for SH3 and it fixed ALL the crashing problems i ever had. Wish i found it for SH3 years ago!!


I would think that 4GB advice would be a top sticky note. At least for SH3 cuz it keeps me playing it and had a HUGE impact.
