So I started playing again after a long hiatus. I’m in the costal waters campaign in 1939. I’m crawling along at 3 knots in silent running, depth 100 meters trying to avoid detection. I’ve got a warship of some description off my starboard beam, bearing 077 medium speed, moving away estimated range about 5500 meters.

Listening to the hydrophone I can hear the constant chugging swishing noise of the screw, but every now and then I can hear a humming drone coming from the same bearing, almost sounds like a lawn mower sound or aircraft engine. It comes then fades away and then repeats. There also a high pitched whistling noise as well, almost sounds like when you blow air over the mouth of a bottle. Has anyone else heard anything like this? Does anyone know what it could possibly be?

For real??? My hydro operator identified it as a warship, and it has blade noises, the humming sounds also followed its bearing.

I figured maybe it was some sort of machinery or something 🤔

Well some DD's do have a whine. Which ones I am not sure about but I mostly hear it when a Tribal is close.

And yes, tye game has whales. Sounds as well as animated ones. Saw one once, heard many more. Which was epic!

it is a great feeling to see a whale on the game and the game will classifie the whale has a warship

I do miss Dolphins though travelling in front of my bow wave and slightly to the side.
