I was curious about this myself. Since the Steam Deck is running Steam OS out of the box, my guess is one would need to install Windows first so the patchers etc can be executed. I have a preorder in, not supposed to be available until mid next year but, hey, if I can play my sub sims in handheld with mods … yes please.

Silent Hunter V doesn't run without Ubisoft being installed.
Unfortunately, I don't see SH5 on Steam Deck working anytime soon

the truth is that you can install ubisoft after installing windows. You can even install SH5 steam version and mods. who knows!
