Hello everyone. I’m sure this has been asked before howeve, I can’t seem to find an answer. I’ve been given the Guadalcanal Life guard mission to be complete nlt dec 5 1942. It is currently early aug. how do I complete this objective? Is there a magic number to hit? I’ve rescued 8 airman from the waters and the sea appears littered with airman. If I can’t complete this objective am I “punished” by the game so to speak? I’m currently running TMOwtw (I know I know I’m a noob) Thanks.

I cannot remember for sure for certain, but it will be at least six, sometimes 10 that you have to rescue. The game "defaults" to 10, unless the modder changed it. You do have to pick them all up inside the designated area. Did your "orders" tell you how big of an area to pick-up in? Most missions like that will have 2 dozen "survivors" in the water usually, but you do not have to get them all, unless you want to try to beat Dick O'Kane while you are there... in the meantime, not plugging them, but looking at your username, it reminded me of a book that Admiral Lockwood wrote about this very subject, and lo and behold, if you do Amazon, the Kindle version is 'free' right now. You probably have to register with them and give an email for the "free" book, but:

Here is a pdf I found a while back when researching this subject for inclusion in FotRSU:
