Nice find! I had the pleasure of running into a shipmate from the WWII Parche while at the post office one day. Shared a quick story and then we were both on our way.

Thanks! Nice. Any idea if he was aboard for "Ramage's Rampage" 31 July 1944? "Most exciting 48 minutes of the submarine war" (paraphrasing) I believe Clay Blair called it.

I added that convoy to TMO campaign so player can try to pull it off. Convoy is on historical, route, timing, composition etc (as much as possible in the sim) with the ability to operate on the surface now in TMO at night like that now, quite interesting.

In order to evade escorts after an attack they tricked the escorts by going into the shallows. The escorts thought they would go to deep water after the attack to escape and so went to the deeper water looking for them, but didn't find them.

Yep , Parche's first patrol was Formosa, second was also off Formosa with a wolfpack and was when "the rampage" took place in July 1944.

Interesting tactic. Ramage was a uh character.
