Is there any way to prevent crashes or know when or where they will occur in SH3? I am running the basic Steam version with Windows 10. No mods. I have had the game crash twice in the Med (in CN or CO) and just today in grid AM11 in the North Atlantic.

Large Address Aware... can find it & download/use it after doing a google search for it... simple to use, is just a 3 step process. Tell it where the SH3.exe is located... click to assign the .exe more than 2 GB's of RAM, then click ok.. Done.

The there is a 4 GB patch... which I think most mega mod packages, come with that... if I'm not mistaken.

Both methods will help reduce significantly, the number of CTD's you'll deal with, but... NOT knock them out from happening completely 100%. Is still some things that can pop up to cause CTD's...

Hope this info helps... :shucks :yep:

I cannot find SH3.exe. I am running on Steam. What can I do?

After opening up Large Address Aware (or LAA as some also refer to it...) in step 1, there should be to the right a couple of dots. Clicking on that, will open up a sub menu, allowing you to actually search for where on your computer, an .exe is located.

With Steam, SH3 should be located in the library area set up, when you installed Steam to begin with & when you installed your 1st game or games, as the case may be.

It should look something like this:

C:\Games\Silent-Hunter\SH4-Steam\steamapps\common

Whereas in the \common folder is where SH3 should be installed & set up.

I know that how you have Steam installed when you do a folder search, won't look exactly like Mine does there in My example... but... the part that should, is ''\steamapps\common'' section at the end of it.

That is, as far as I know, it should at least.

Hope this info helps... :yep:
