Samoa's first female PM locked out of parliament by losing opponent.

Some people just don't know when to skulk off quietly into the night. :haha:

What we need here is a dedicated News channel so we can post News snippets like this one where it doesn't really deserve it's own thread, it would also clean up the General Topics section as well, you can always clean it up on a yearly basis. How does "News of the Day 2021" sound, is it a good idea or should I just Shut Up and leave the executive decisions to those who think they know best. :O:

Thank you for bringing this up ... the Samoa in question is not American Samoa, but is Western Samoa which gained it's independence from Germany back in the 1990's.

The man that refuses to step down has been the PM for 22 years the 2nd longest of any other PM in history.

Yes I feel sorry for her, but she has been sworn in, just denied the right to take hold of the present day government.

My great grandfather on my dad's side was from American Samoa believe it or not. We always wondered where Dad got his jet black hair and dusky features. His family in North Wales were largely unknown to us (although Facebook has changed all that) and he never talked much about them after he left the Army and settled in England with Mum

I wrote to the main newspaper over there to tell them how I was a part-Samoan from American Samoa and how my great grandad had jumped ship in Cardiff way back. They obviously weren't very interested as they never replied
